Quote:I've seen this idea batted around and I'm in favor. I like the idea of "you can't have everything, so CHOOSE!"
Attache keeps to the side:
Hey, there was some talk about special rewards for staying true to your morality and not side-switching, right? What if only the morally pure (or impure redside) can become...Incarnates! *gasp* -
Quote:Heh, like Hal hasn't switched back and forth a couple times himself. Seems appropriate to me.
NekoNeko has a short memory:
Hey Pedro, you have that Green Lantern quote and you're also a Loyalist?
Just thinking that is both ends of a fairly wide spectrum...
(I'm not saying, I'm just saying...)

Quote:While all that is true, it's not really the responsibility of the individual players to makes sure the servers are evenly distributed. What is, is. If they want more teams, going to Freedom is certainly a viable option. Personally, I find Freedom and Virtue way too crowded, but I'm weird.
ClawsandEffect is pointy:
Just wanted to make a point about this.
People who complain that some of the servers are "dead", and then switch to Freedom because of it, are only making the problem worse.
The game isn't dead at all. But the fact that everyone and their grandmother is moving to Freedom for "easier teaming" is contributing to that perception. -
Quote:Out of my 30 current Victory characters, only two are planned to switch over at the moment.
M_I_Abrahms wants the skinny:
So, as we're waiting for Going Rogue access, be it Beta, Open Beta or Live, an idea was suggested for a poll to see just how many of our characters are actually being considered/prepped for the side switching that will be made available.
Discourtesy, my brute that is the "opposite" of Decorum, will be switching from Villain to Hero, but it's all a trick (he was originally a "Bizarro" character that's now evolving more into "Lex Luthor").
Hermione Brinkman, a MM, is Decorum's long lost sister and was conceived with side switching from vengeance-seeking Villain to Hero as part of her story arc.
Decorum, being a big ol' goody two shoes type, will absolutely not be switching, although he certainly will visit Praetoria to see what's going on.
The rest are all up in the air. Once I've established my characters, they have a tendency to write their own stories, so it's whatever comes up.
EDIT: Oh, high levels? I only have three 50s, and side-switching doesn't fit any of them. Also I may make a Dual Pistols Praetorian, but I haven't fleshed that out yet. -
Legion of Valor still going strong on Victory (although we had a name changed forced on us from the original Hard Corps). Fallen Legion redside, as well.

Me, three. UBB was well past its prime when they STARTED using it, much less now. -

When I'm intoxicated, I usually also have something more entertaining to do than sit in front of a keyboard.

Depends on the intoxicant for me. A certain smoke, with its inherent ability to uber-focus and to make even boring things interesting and fun, couldn't be more suited to playing video games, especially immersive ones. -
I went afk one night at my work (hotel night audit) because I was getting robbed.

Yes, but the fact remains. You can have something that is technically called a "farm" that contiains nothing but livestock. Many people might call that ranching, but it would not be wrong to call it simply farming.
Essentially there is no requirement to grow crops to have a farm, just to perform any of the the activites that fall under the rather large umbrella of things that are considered "farming".
If you are to pull up the search section of the USDA website and put in the phrase " livestock farming " you will get over 350 results.
If livestock farming is an acceptable term for the USDA, who are we to argue?

Can't we all just get along???? -
IIRC, it's the more intricate building graphics, etc. I get laggy over there, too.
I also don't like the look, and I'm not particularly fond of playing the "bad guy", although I'm sure I'll get around to it more once I get some better hardware. But, yeah, the design is much better. -

farm
noun 1. a tract of land, usually with a house, barn, silo, etc., on which crops and often livestock are raised for livelihood.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but are they HUGE tracts of land? -
I missed you with this pitcher of water.
I'll try again. -

I know. I posted an entire paragraph . Then I expected the Playskool Cartel to pay attention long enough to read a paragraph. What was I thinking?
[/ QUOTE ]
I was kind of thinking the same thing. I've seen some walls of text on these forums in the past few years and the OP barely qualifies. I think some of you are on hair triggers here.
[/ QUOTE ]
Same here. Or maybe some are just allergic to reading of any type. -

What the hell do you guys do with all those characters? How can anyone have more than 3 ACTIVE toons, there's not enough time in the day to do any more than that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally, I blame Kurt Busiek. He inspired me to make characters the "Astro City" way.
And it depends on what you mean by "active". I have toons I pull out a couple of times a week. Some I might pull out once every couple of weeks. Some maybe once a month. Some I haven't touched in years (aside from badge updates and the like). I just like lots of choices. -

Thanks for bringing this to the forums Steiner. Sad to hear Mids is stepping down due to RL, but glad to hear that you'll be heading up updates to the program. Best of luck to both of you.

This.
Why spend time typing up my own thoughts when someone else has already expressed them?

The Fifth Column Oroborous 'TF'.
Last room. Fighting off ALL of those Ambushes while fighting Maestro, Requiem, -and- Vandal on their little platform. 1 SR scrapper, 2 Regens. We survived by the skin of our teeth through the Triple AV Aggro, then spent a good 4 minutes fighting back against all the ambush waves. Both Regens died at least three times before we all went down.
AWESOME fight. =-3

When I soloed that on my inv/em tank, that last battle lasted ten minutes or more of constant fighting and I survived for only two seconds after the "Mission Complete" signal went off. Incredibly exhilarating! -

I did a Film Noir/Hardboiled detective style arc..

I've got a idea burning for one, but what I want to make it really work is a half a dozen maps in black and white (as I want to make the characters as "greyscale" as possible, too). But I'll definitely give yours a looksee! -

2 cents' worth: we don't rent the game. We subscribe. Wouldn't a magazine subscription be a better analogy?
[/ QUOTE ]
Probably. I was originally just trying to be just subtly "off" from the inevitable "rental" agreement that comes up to illustrate the difference, but like many 'net conversations, it kind of took on a life of its own. -
[ QUOTE ]
I like teaming with kids because they remind me there is a level of enjoyment in these games that us old folks just don't get anymore. They take powers because they are neat and they really want a missile launcher from their epic because that looks really cool. While we might be passed that phase it's a nice reminder to see someone else have that kind of moment.

Well, it is nice to know that even at 48, I'm still a kid in my head.
Actually, I already knew that. -
What a great thread! I love upbeat stories!

Clickey Clacks! I gotta remember that!

I've been calling them "clickers" from the start, but I just stole that from Alan Moore's "Top 10". Clickey Clacks has a bit better ring to it, I must admit. -

QR: What becomes a legend most, I mean what deserves a kick the most....?
Answer: TANKS WHO REFUSE TO TANK! These are few things more annoying [rockin' the aura might be one of them].
Was on an AE team the other night with a tank who was firmly in the back, doing nothing. This was a level 30+ Tank, mind you. This was all well & good until our leading Tank d'ced.
Teammate #1: "Okay Shy Little Girl [not her real name], you're up!"
Tank: "ummmmmm.... no thank you."
Teammate #2: "hey, *you're* the tank now. We got no one else."
Tank: "Errr...... no..... I'm new at this."
Me: "But you're level 35, how can you be new?" [although I already knew how, dear reader, trust me]
Tank: "Stop being mean to me, you guys."
Teammate #3: "Here, I'll tell you how to do it. First you.... [explaination of basic Tank behavior follows]."
Teammate #4: "Stop being mean to her you guys! She's NEW!"
Me: "Look, that's not being mean, we are trying to help her. Because trust me if for instance she gets onto a TF and refuses to Tank, then she IS gonna hear some truly mean stuff and this'll seem like nothing."
Tank: "Stop it you guys I don't want to."

However, logging in and updating my spreadsheet, takes a lot of time, especially if I decide to go find an NPC whose name begins with the letter M to find out my /played time (number of hours played).
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd have to bet that "updating your spreadsheet" was the far bigger of the time sinks than just logging in for the badges.
