Quote:Personally, that's my definition of a "story bible".
DKellis wants a book:
I'm still not quite convinced of the existence of a story bible that is anything more than maybe a collection (a large collection, it must be said) of random disorganized notes. -
Quote:Your explanation is nice sounding nonsense. The universe is not a pool table. The world never hinges on one and only one event. There are hundreds...thousands of influences on even the most meaningless events. Sure, sometimes you can change one thing and it makes big changes. Most of the time you could make hundreds of changes and nothing would change.
Durakken says one and only one:
je_saist, I already explained why one must assume that the history is exactly the same up until that point. If you disagree wit that provide an argument against that instead of just saying "NU HUH!!!!"
It would certainly have been possible for there to be a Nazi Germany without Hitler. Do you think he did it by himself? What it needs is someone "Hitler-LIKE" but it doesn't have to be him. To be honest, guys like Goebbels had a whole lot more to do with shaping the Nazis than Hitler himself. -
Quote:You're wrong from the beginning because you make the assumption that alternate/parallel dimensions must be the result of some divergence point. Ain't necessarily so. In fact, that's the way Marvel Comics do it in What If? and Exiles, but all their dimensions aren't so. DC, on the other hand, virtually ignores the concept and things simply develop differently in different dimensions. The reason is "because they did".
Durakken should get a shovel:
je_saist. You're simply wrong. People are who they are because of their pasts and the world is created from their past. As already said, it is near impossible to have anything near what the world is like if it doesn't follow the same path up until a divergence point. In this case Sometime after Cole becomes an incarnate.
I highly suspect that what we're looking at here is not What If? but rather the old-school Earth 1/Earth 2 thing from DC. They're simply different. No divergence point needed or given.
In fact, given all the discrepancies mentioned in this thread, I'd be almost assured of it. -
And the "shameless" is the best part! If you try to be subtle with jokes around here, people just think you're serious.

Quote:Agreed. It ain't over for me until they kick me out and lock the doors.
treboreleets has that right:
I consider a game beaten when the credits roll, and then I go back for anything I missed to achieve 100% completion. Since CoX never has the credits roll, I will most likely only consider it "beaten" once I have accomplished everything I want to do on any given character. I have yet to do that for any of them. -
As I understand it, isn't the problem that buffs and debuffs are treated exactly the same by the software and they don't have a way to separate them out? Is canceling a single buff or debuff even possible without reworking the whole system?
And just for the record, teleport is neither a buff nor debuff that I know of, so it doesn't apply (unless I'm wrong, and then freely willing to be corrected). -
When it comes to IOs vs. DOs/SOs, I use whatever's gonna give me the biggest bump at the time, regardless of "the future". Inf is ridiculously easy to come by for stuff like that, so whether it's efficient later on is of no concern to me (I'll just stack up some more SOs). I load up on TOs on my lowbies, too. They cost almost nothing and I figure every little bit helps at those low levels.

And as such a loyal member since the year 18-diggity-two, I think I deserve as such.

If you're going to stay in game (vs. demorecorder), keep in mind light sources and time. If you're anywhere outside (or inside with direct access to outside, like the trams) at "night", your characters colors are going to be altered. I usually use the basement of the City Hall in Atlas Park myself, but there are better places.

I agree, it's all in the phrasing. "The room was tinged with the aura of fear." is less jarring than "You have a feeling of fear come over you."

Felderburg didn't miss anything:
In other news, I keep hearing about this "revamped" "new player experience." I know that 1-20 in Praetoria will be different, but how will it affect the CoH and CoV tutorials -
Please. If we could harness people's inexhaustible fuel for trolling, the world wouldn't have an energy crisis anymore.

Maybe it's the new "kewl" thing.
Can it please replace boys with floppy haircuts and wearing girls' jeans? -
Heh, I leave it in just in case they eventually have it make a difference, I don't have to change anything.

EDIT OBLIVIOUS POST...
Quote:Ah, I see what you're saying. Hmmm...think I'll stick with mine, mostly because I'm used to the rhythm. Thanks for the explanation, though.Carnifax_NA explains:
When you use +lbutton you're basically firing and selecting in one go, so no target circle as you say, you just TP in one action. Much easier to string them together, just keep your finger on Shift and click the mouse. -
I know I was impressed by waiting a whole 25 minutes before virtually blowing a gasket that no one came to his rescue.
-
Curious, what's the need for "+ lbutton"? I just bind lshift to tp. I tap it, the target circle appears, then I click where I'm going. Is it somehow faster to have to hold lshift down and have the command go off "all at once"? Do you get the little target circle when you do it your way.?

We know almost nothing. In fact, it's probably not a good idea to assume that it will follow what has previously been called Incarnates. It may follow that pattern, but it might not resemble it in the least.

Good non-linear thinking! Although in an interesting circular fashion.
I vote we put LISAR in the legislature next time! -
I apologize for apparently creating a meme.
I'm so ashamed. -
Quote:Back in the early days of American comics, it was more or less formulaic that the good guys wore primary colors (red, blue, yellow) and the bad guys wore secondary colors (green, purple, orange). Plenty of exceptions, but that was the general rule.
Nos482 wants the old school info:
I mean, whats up with that colour? Is there a joke or something that I didn“t get?
One interesting side-note is that Marvel had several heroes who started out as villains and were later heroes that followed the rule. Hawkeye wore purple, the Vision wore green and so did Quicksilver (at first), etc.
EDIT: Awww, didn't read far enough. Durakken more or less beat me to it. -
Quote:WOLVERINES!
Rick Astley is no strange to love:
Yellow dawn YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Quote:I'd forgotten about that, thanks!
Basilisk can be my alternate memory any time:
Alternately, type [plasmatic taser] in your chat window and see what the powers do there.
I do still wish they'd fix/return the mouseover info though. -
Quote:Just to note, Martial Arts (the game set) contains no blocks or dodges. Those would be a function of a different (usually secondary) powerset, generally Super-Reflexes.
Cyberforce has the wrong half:
As much as I enjoy watching a good spinning back kick, I'd like to see a couple of good cover-ups or blocks when I dodge an attack. -
Quote:While your detailing is correct, you'll have a hard time convincing the "average American" (fan or hater) of that. We've tried for years at CBR, but still get people showing up all the time insisting that anime/manga means giant eyes.
rian_frostdrake sees the narrow perception:
as for the anime pack, while i think people with spa's reaction are bing narrow minded and silly and possibly bigoted, anime is not a single genre.
