Best way to get a photo of my hero/villain

I wanted to get some screenies of my various heroes/villains, wondering what the best way was?

Ideally I want just a white or neutral background. Any good locations in the zones to take simple screenies?

I vaguely recall there was a way to make movies outside the game, and wondered if there was a way to get my hero/villain's character model into that system for a more staged photo?

Fairly high-res, full-length, close-up, and well-rendered would be a plus.

Thanks in advance!

Depending on your environmental reflection settings, the windows of the AE building get pretty neutral from the outside if you're up on the second-floor entrance balcony.

Also the skyline on the islands lacks the warwalls so you can find some prety neutral locations. Nerva I think is a decent spot for that.

Inside the underpasses in the rikti warzone you have some nice blank walls. Over near the crey encampment there are some good long tunnels that work. Atlas park has a few in the north-east I think.

If you have a problem finding any of these let me know and I can try to be more specific.

You could Demorecord your character in a short clip, then change the MAP to an invalid one to get a nice blank black background to work with.

eg.
1 0 Version 2
0 0 Map maps/City_Zones/City_03_01/City_03_00.txt
0 0 Time 0.000

You don't have to include a Map line at all.

Here is an example of what I used to get this image, with a nice blue background (I find black tends to wash out lighter colors, and obscures the edges of characters with darker costumes):

I saved that as "aggelakis.cohdemo", then I played it with Sloth's Demo Launcher, and took a screenshot of the CoH window.

To replace your character, just demorecord your character (it only needs to be recording as long as it takes you to type /demostop...your character's costume details are recorded IMMEDIATELY upon typing /demorecord filename), and find the blurb in the file that looks like the "PLAYER "PLAYERNAME"" line down to the last PARTSNAME line. Copy that block and paste it overtop of my character's details. It's easiest to do this in a remote part of the game, where there are very few other player characters and few mission doors and few enemies. I like to use the far northern corners of Peregrine Island where there's nothing for miles. It makes it far easier to pick your character out of the demorecord.

You'll note the POS line says "0 -5004 -7.45" ... that sets your character -5004 feet (or whatever the recorder uses for unit measurement) below ground level, which takes the character far below the clouds that would make the background not be a solid color otherwise.

Dark Astoria with Ambient Occlusion set to, either min or max. Whiever makes it totally gray is my first thought.

Or what everyone else said.

If you're going to stay in game (vs. demorecorder), keep in mind light sources and time. If you're anywhere outside (or inside with direct access to outside, like the trams) at "night", your characters colors are going to be altered. I usually use the basement of the City Hall in Atlas Park myself, but there are better places.

Dec out.
