Have fun getting your thread deleted.
The bannings are off limits because it is between NCSoft and the player in question.
Personally, I do not know anyone who has been banned and I know a LOT of people that were farming the HELL out of the Comm Officers. Which leads me to the conclusion that the people banned were doing something well beyond what is considered acceptable.
If someone got banned and didn't do anything wrong, well, yeah that sucks. But if they were knowingly doing something against the rules and got banned for it I have no sympathy.
Funny how now that CoH is doing the same thing other MMOs have been doing for years as far as rule enforcement goes is raising such a stink. Everquest banned a lot of people, with no warning, for comparitively minor infractions. WoW currently does the same thing, again for relatively minor infractions.
And people are crying about getting banned here for extreme exploits like it's a horrible injustice.
Amuses me.
IBTD, bye now -
Uh, no. I'm not going to have you pay me to come up with a build for you to copy exactly because you A) don't know how to build a blaster and need someone else to do it for you, or B) are too lazy to open Mid's and do it yourself.
If you had asked for advice on a Fire/MM build and not come out and said "make me a build to copy" I might have been more inclined to throw you one.
Since I play on Pinnacle it would only be 100 milion anyway.
I'll earn it myself.

Actually it's because of my blaster that I stopped playing characters without status protection, heh heh. Even my controller is sonic.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you won't play anything but a Force Field or Sonic Defender or Controller? Or a scrapper, tank or softcapped blaster?
Wow, that seems very......limiting. -
The whole thing is unlikely to ever see the light of day, but what made you think THIS wasn't grossly overpowered:
[ QUOTE ]
power 4: Analyze Weakness toggle: Your speed and agility allow you to find weaknesses in your foe's defenses. All foes within 150ft have a 15% chance for -33% resistance and -25% defense applied every 1 second. Toggle does not cause aggro.
[/ QUOTE ]
Depending on how long that lasts, and whether or not it stacks, you may have just come up with the most overpowered Epic pool power ever. Debuffing enemies from SNIPE RANGE? And it doesn't agro? The only way this power would be feasible is if it costs as much (when enhanced) as running Telekinesis and both Rad toggles at once, and even then it's still stupid overpowered.
What you are asking for here is to make your hover-blaster an untouchable god of ranged damage.Quickness, and that abomination of a toggle debuff along with 20% (enhanced) ranged and AoE defense?
You have looked at blaster APPs before right? Don't you think this is asking for just a LITTLE too much?
Did you consider how incredibly overpowered this pool would be in PvP? A blaster who stays at range, with SR level defenses to ranged damage? Uh, no, villain players would raise a hell of a stink and rightly so. -
[ QUOTE ]
the shield power is fun to play. I only got one real problem with it. the problem is the active defense power. that power should like all the others of its kind should be a toggle and not a click type power.
[/ QUOTE ]
Put 2 or 3 recharge SOs in it and put it on autofire (hold down Ctrl while you click on the power) It will automatcially go off when it's recharged and you don't have to worry about it.
As others mentioned, it is functionally identical to Practiced Brawler from SR and whatever Ninjitsu's mez protection power is called. -
You can get away with skipping Touch of Fear and Confront, and maybe Shadow Maul in Dark Melee. In Shield Defense you can skip Grant Cover and One With The Shield if you want, you need everything else.
I would go either Combat Jumping/Super Jump, or Hasten/Super Speed (If you go with Hasten/Super Speed I suggest picking up Combat Jumping as well) If you really want to take Teleport I won't tell you not to, but the powers I mentioned here will be more useful in the long run (Combat Jumping and Hasten are much more useful for a scrapper than Recall Friend or TP Foe)
Yes, Shadow Maul and Sands or Mu are basically the same thing. However, Sands of Mu is unenhanceable, while you can enhance Shadow Maul. Sands will never get beyond your base accuracy, which means the higher you level the more often it will miss. I have them both and chain them together all the time. It's not the most efficient chain, but it's fun.
Fitness pool is pretty much required if you want to fight for more than 30 seconds, Dark Consumption will still be useful in long fights.
The Fighting pool is a good one. You can use Boxing to round out your attack chain if you need an extra attack. Tough will help with Smashing and Lethal resistance, which are the most common damage types in the game, or alternately cn be used as a set bonus mule if you'd rather not burn the end running it. Weave will add even more defense on top of Shield's toggles.
Dark or Body would be good Epic pools for you to look into if you decide to take one. -
I got them as random rolls. I got 3 in a row on my rad/sonic defender
-
Ditto.
I have an AV who spawns in a group of Behemoth Overlords, and they all dwarf him, the hardest guy in the map to kill only comes up to the chests of his bodyguards, that just doesn't seem right.
The AV in question is Surtr, the Norse Fire Giant, so that makes it even more incongruous. -
The Chance for Lethal applies only to the power it is slotted in. It gives a 20% chance of applying additional lethal damage when the power successfully hits. It is best used in a power that recharges and animates quickly. So, if you have a Katana scrapper you would want to put it in Gambler's Cut or Sting of the Wasp rather than Golden Dragonfly.
The Damage % (in Mako's case 3%) is a global buff. If you have 4 or more Mako's IOs in the same power all of your attacks get a 3% damage bonus added to them. -
My first memorable moment was the night I coined the term "Clawsing" (the term is used to describe popping every inspiration in your tray and going berzerk, usually applied to a scrapper, but other ATs can do it as well)
I was running in a trio with 2 SG mates. I was the lowest on the team by a wide margin. My Sg mates dropped in a room with about 25 Rikti that were orange to me agroed on us. I hit Instant Healing (I had just gotten it, so it had no slots yet, I was level 28) and ate every inspiration I had except the blues and proceeded to slaughter the majority of the Rikti clustered around us. My SG mates saw what I was doing and started passing me their inspirations as I was fighting. I killed off 24 of the 25 before a stray shot finally dropped me. At which point the other scrapper rezzed and finished the last one off.
That was also the night I settled on my claws/regen as my main. -
I hate it just because I do. I tried playing it several times and never got past level 10 any of those times.
I think it's butt-ugly with the Scrubbin' Bubbles animation in all the powers. I've met maybe 4 players that were competent in their knockback use and didn't send stuff flying every which way.
I have watched many new players with energy blast who just got Explosive Blast. What is the first thing they do when the tank herds stuff up to be killed? They fire Explosive Blast into the middle of the spawn. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Usually just before the tank reaches the spawn. Even the ones that are competent in their use of the set can't help causing chaos and occasional teamwipes once in a while. That is a sign of a poorly designed set when a GOOD player still does bad things because the set's design forces them to. Knockback into walls is one thing, but what about when there are no walls? Don't get me wrong, knockback has it's uses, and is a good way to keep yourself alive, but to have knockback in every power of an entire set is just ridiculous.
I just plain don't like it. It's my personal opinion, which I am entitled to, and I don't ask that anyone agree with me if they don't want to. And I don't see that opinion ever changing, at least as long as the set remains unchanged. -
[ QUOTE ]
Even with SOs, more than two end reductions in a toggle defense is definitely a waste
[/ QUOTE ]
Fixed for accuracy, as per personal experience. -
Werner's got it pretty dead on here. RttC shuts off anytime you are mezzed, which is very often, every AT in the game has some sort of mez available to them, and if it hits you it WILL stick.
Most players that can do so will fight you at range and never enter melee range, making RttC worse than useless in PvP, it's pretty much just an endurance drain that doesn't do anything. Add in the fact that the set lacks a self-heal, and is a jack of all trades set that isn't very good at any one thing, and you have a set that gets annihilated in PvP.
Basically all the things that make it awesome in PvE are the same things that make it suck in PvP. -

As far as endurance concerns with /DA, it can't be said enough: Get the Theft of Essense: Chance for +End Proc for Dark Regen.
[/ QUOTE ]
Interesting idea - I should try this with my Spines/Dark. Right now I have conserve power on autofire but this could free up a power slot if it works as described. Cool, thanks.
Agree with all the other comments....
[/ QUOTE ]
It is wonderful to have that in Dark Regeneration, but it is expensive to the common player.
[/ QUOTE ]
At only a 20% chance for +10% End it's not worth it
[/ QUOTE ]
That's per target. If you're routinely surrounded by foes when you need a heal, it pretty much just stops costing you endurance on average.
[/ QUOTE ]
QFMFT
My Dark Regeneration routinely has me GAINING endurance when I fire it off. It checks for every target in range and has a chance to go off for each one.
If you are surrounded by 10 enemies and Dark Regen hits all 10 of them, you are almost guaranteed to have the proc fire at least twice. I've seen it hit as many as 6 before.
Slotted end cost = 21 end per use
proc on 6 targets = 60 endurance returned
net endurance gain = 39
Do not sell this IO short, it is HANDS DOWN the best single IO investment a Dark Armor anything can make. If you can only afford one IO in your entire build, it should be this one. It really is THAT good. -
[ QUOTE ]
ClawsandEffect - As I said before, I don't have any interest in rebuilding a virtual clone of my scrapper using DM/WP (It would be months before that character saw 50th) so it's either find a build I can respec this character into I can live with or just scrap the scrapper all together.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wasn't necessarily telling you to reroll, was just mentioning that a pure regeneration regen with no other mitigation just isn't that practical anymore. The "roll a DM/WP instead" was just my advice if you were dead set on just regeneration for mitigation and not willing to compromise. Since it seems you are willing to compromise my statement is redundant.
Builds look pretty good, you should be well on your way to getting about as close as you'll ever get to an old school regen. -
Batman impersonator: "What's the difference between me and you?"
Batman: "I'm not wearing hockey pads."
Had to quote that.
Some of the ideas are cool, some are meh. Some sports themed costume pieces would be very cool.
Examples follow: Catcher's mask as a Detail 1 option on faces. Football pads as a Shoulders or Chest Detail option, perhaps split it between the two. Goalie mask, both modern (as a Helmet option) and classic (as a face option) Cricket bat for War Mace. Hockey gloves. Various jerseys (hockey, football, baseball, basketball) Hi-top sneakers. Cleats. Catcher's knee pads w/cleats as Boots option. Football Helmet (or even just the faceguard as a half helmets option) Football pads under a jersey as an Armored option. Same with hockey pads. Batting gloves.
Some of the emotes are cool ideas. I don't know what the power for the pack would be though. That's about all I can think of. -

Since the Devs never saw fit to award me an accolade in Croatoa or Striga I seriously doubt they will do so in the RWZ either.
[/ QUOTE ]
You get Geas of the Kind Ones for completing all content in Croatoa, including all the defeat badges. That is exactly the kind of thing the OP is referring to.
I could see an accolade for RWZ. It would by definition be available to both sides as well. Which would be kind of cool because there isn't any other accolade that is shared in such a way.
Remove Zookeeper from the list, change Vanguard-Ready to a total Vanguard Merits acquired badge and add in all the exploration badges in the zone and you might have a workable idea. Hell, you don't really even need to add any badges to the game, just tie the RWZ badges that already exist to an accolade and call it good.
So, something like this:
Vanguard Veteran
- Requirements:
-- Master At Arms
-- Demolitionist
-- Vanguard Operative
-- Apocalyptic
-- Trespasser
-- Powerful
-- Lifesaver
-- Under Fire
-- Base Jumper
-- Homewrecker
-- Junkyard Dog
-- Scarred
-- Asunder
-- Unabashed
-- Eyewitness
-
*scratches head, stares at screen, bewildered*
This was actually a serious suggestion?
Hell, if that's the case let's just make it 10 endurance for every badge you get and completely break the power/endurance ratio. That'd be what, over 6100 endurance if you collected them all?
Tell you what else we can do, we can change Foot Stomp into a power that will one-shot GMs and kill everything in the game at once, on both sides. Oh, I know! Give level 1 characters the ability to one-shot a level 1 minion and instantly get to level 50!
Let's raise the level cap to 10,000! And get there with one attack!
Do I need to illustrate any further how dumb I think this idea is? -
I brought up the wands and staffs here because it's the only origin specific powerset you had actually fleshed out. And you said yourself that this thread only exists because people meantioned that other origin powersets should be considered in your other thread.
Also, how is my mentioning a Midnighter AT that uses a wand not on-topic with an Origin Specific Powerset?
You started a thread. People posted in it with their thoughts. End of story. -
BBhumeBB, read my post earlier in the thread, and the OP's response to it. Your concerns were already addressed. I felt much the same way about it and even gave examples of some of my own characters.
I stated that if it were an option we were given then yes I would be all for it. But, if we were forced into such a thing I heartily disagree with anything like that being implemented. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'd pick the character that I have the most fun with, or played most often, or the one I considered "my main".
[/ QUOTE ]
This.
When choosing which character to sink a lot of money and time into, always go with whatever one you enjoy playing more. All the power in the world doesn't mean squat if you don't have fun playing the character.
I'm IOing my Claws/Regen scrapper and my Sonic/Devices blaster. I have several powerset combos that will be more powerful when IOed out, but I enjoy playing those two more than most, so they are getting the love.
I'm also going to IO my DM/Nin stalker and my DM/SR brute when they get high enough.
I will eventually IO all my characters to a point, but those 4 (so far) are the only ones I'm pulling out all the stops on. -
A brute should be able to handle the 4th difficulty level pretty early on. I suggest something like a Electric Melee/Willpower for ease of play and good AoE damage (AoEs go through minions faster than single target does)
If a brute doesn't suit your playstyle try a Bots/Dark Mastermind. -
Fire/Kin controller and a Spines/Fire scrapper would do pretty good heroside.
My wife has a Plant/Kin controller that I'm looking forward to pairing with my Spines/Fire. It won't be QUITE the same output as a Fire/Kin, but should be pretty close.
Villainside I'm going to defer to those who know better than I. -
Claws/Regen or Willpower scrapper with Stamina.
NOTHING is lighter on endurance use.
If you don't run any extra toggles your endurance bar will literally never move. -
Wait...what?
There are people out there who don't want to farm AE missions?
Inconceivable!
Don't they know this game is all about farming the same mission over and over ad nauseum?
Really, people have some nerve don't they?
/sarcasm
Seriously, I get where you're coming from, it's gotten bad enough I don't even join PuGs anymore, I just stick with my core group of friends.
