AT Advice

I have got a few high level toons. I have never really gotten into the whole IO sets thing but think it's time to bite the bullet. I want to pool all my influence together and maybe build IO sets for just on or two toons. I have the following ATs at my disposal:

Invuln/War Mace tank
Emp/NRG defender
Rad/Rad defender
Kin/Psi defender
Ice/Nrg tank
Fire/Fire tank
Ice/Ice corruptor

my question is...if you were going to buy lvl 45-50 IO sets for any of the ATs above. Which one would you invest in and why. When done...I would really like a lvl 50 toon that is totally badass in most high level game cotent...AE farms...Raids...TFs/ITFs....etc.

if you have an AT not a my disposal feel free to add...maybe i will just role a new toon.

any advice would be appreciated and thanks.

I'd pick the character that I have the most fun with, or played most often, or the one I considered "my main".

Main Hero : Annilixxion -- Lv50 Blaster
Main Villain : Menkaura -- Lv41 Mastermind

Take it from all the tanks and fenders you are highly team oriented.. Me not always so much, so I'd go the Ice/Ice corr. It offers great team buffs an support while remaining highly soloable.
Not that tanks an fenders aren't soloable, but think it's pretty obvious those aren't "damage" ATs. My ice/ice corr is only 45 but quite impressive with his AoE killing storms.

If you more hero then guess my choice would fall to rad/rad def.. damage sucks but the debuffs are awesome.

If I was going to invest a lot of money into one of those, I'd pick the Fire/Fire Tank.

A Fire/Fire Tanker with soft-capped defenses can be pretty scary.

How the heck is that possible?

hmm, I just got 40.6% melee/28.7 range/23.1aoe on an em/fa brute, but it would be grossly unplayable.

Be well, people of CoH.

Was wondering same.. def-wise my /fire alts sucked by comparison to other builds.. (not that I mind figure fire just more dam oriented then def) but hitting softcap? Can that really be done on fire without outside buffs?

This.

When choosing which character to sink a lot of money and time into, always go with whatever one you enjoy playing more. All the power in the world doesn't mean squat if you don't have fun playing the character.

I'm IOing my Claws/Regen scrapper and my Sonic/Devices blaster. I have several powerset combos that will be more powerful when IOed out, but I enjoy playing those two more than most, so they are getting the love.

I'm also going to IO my DM/Nin stalker and my DM/SR brute when they get high enough.

I will eventually IO all my characters to a point, but those 4 (so far) are the only ones I'm pulling out all the stops on.

My advice is, don't blow all your money on one guy... It's not worth it to "pimp" out one guy unless your really into PvP. The PvE game isn't hard by any streatch of the imagition. You can by reasonably priced IO's and Sets for all them guys, and make them all viable, and it won't cost as much as your thinking.

Purples are great, but IMO, overkill. Some of the best sets in the game IMO are crushing impacts and thuderstrikes, and they'er dirt cheap. And be reasonible when you start stacking some kinds of set bonses.

If your not having issues with your endurance... you don't need more end set bonues. If you have a solid attack chain and NEVER use your painic button powers, you prolly don't need more recharge...

So people just go nuts for recharge and end bosters without realising they can't use a power faster then it's anamation time, and if your end bar never moves, whats' the point?

To me, having a stable of usable heros, a bunch to chose from is way better then having 1 or 2 really tricked out ones. So i shop for discount IO's, and frankly, i don't think my guys ever unproform in PvE. I've done the MSTF, beaten every TF and trail in the game, raided the Hammi... none of that requires pimped out toon as it where. On over 25 different heros/villians. I enjoy asking "what do you need" knowing i can fill ANY roll the team needs. Debuffs? My rad/sonic or Ill/Sonic or Plant/TA can handle it Tanking? got a classic invuln/SS and a WP/BA that can handle nearly anything. Dmg? my fire/ice/elec blaster is an aoe meachine. I have 2 our blasters and 5 scrappers as well. Buffs, got the fire/emp, and 2 kins. Villian side i have 2 brutes, 2 corrs, 3 mms, a stalker, and a work in progress dom. (currently lvl 35)

And one lonely peacebringer.... but, i can do whatever you want me to do in a team, and i LOVE that versitialy.

But if your not as into veritity as i am, and really want 2 tricked out toons, pick the ones you find yourself playing the most. It's prolly cause you like them the best.
