  1. Short answer: No one but the devs knows yet. They're not releasing any more information about it this early. By the phrasing of your question, you have proven that you know just as much about it as anyone else not employed by NCSoft.

Any answer given to you will be little better than a wild guess at this point.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
    hi guys,

so i'm level 4 now and my first contact can't give me any more missions, and the second contact he pointed me to is in another zone. And it looks like i can't travel out of my zone yet. Is it normal that you can only do a few missions in the first zone or am i missing something?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, I think I see the dilemma. If my guess is correct you have been sent to a contact in Kings Row, but were unaware of being able to use the train to get there. Since 2 of the gates are to level restricted zones you came to the conclusion that you couldn't leave the zone yet. Or a previous poster was correct and you were sent to see David Wincott in the Hollows. His missions are anywhere from easy to challenging depending on what AT you are playing as, but you don't have to run them if you don't want to. I suggest running the Hollows arc at least once though, it's the first example of a storyline that covers a whole zone and doesn't leave it.

FYI, any time a gate on the map is red you have to be a certain level to enter, if it is green you can enter at any level. Be aware though, many times the enemies on the streets in a different zone will be much higher than you if you are a low level.

My advice to solve the problem here: kill some stuff on the street until you hit level 5. Probably the easiest solution for you, since I don't know the exact details of your situation.

Usually your first contact will give you 5 or 6 missions before sending you somewhere else. Generally that is just to get you started on your way, as the first zone is levels 1-6. You will be coming back there periodically throughout your career for different things that open up later.

    Admin's Global?

    [ QUOTE ]
Does the admin, dev team, gm team have an in-game global handle/email address?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The devs that have taken the identities of in-game characters have an account with that character's name as the global. Those accounts do not follow the same rules as normal player accounts, having a great many additional abilities. These accounts are usually used for internal testing purposes. Back Alley Brawler will occasionally log onto the test server and mess with people using his, I imagine others do as well, BaBs is just the only one who has mentioned it.

All the devs to my knowledge also have a personal game account. Those are normal player accounts with no additional perks. They do not share their global names on those accounts for obvious reasons.

Chances are, if you PuG a lot, you have teamed with a dev at some point, as many of them like to run in PuGs on their own time.
  4. 1) Drag the enhancement you want to combine on top of the one you already have slotted. Only yellow, white, or green enhancements can be combined this way. If you meant to say "Inspiration", right click on any one that you have 3 of and it will give you the option to combine them into one of anything else.

    2) No, there is no auto-attack. The exception is setting an attack to auto-fire. Doing so will cause that attack to fire automatically anytime the conditions are met for it to fire (there is a target in range, there is something targeted, the attack is recharged, there is nothing ahead of it in the queue, etc.) You can only have one attack set to auto at a time. People commonly set Hasten to auto, and several melee defense sets have mez protection that can be set to auto.

The devs did that to lessen the possibility of people setting up programs to automatically play the game for them. They want to ensure that there is a real person sitting at the keyboard at all times during play.

    3) The game does not have the range of motion to support attacking while moving. This issue has been brought up before. Every power has a set animation attached to it. They COULD have alowed attacking while moving, but the overall appearance would be very shoddy looking i.e. running along shooting a guy behind you while still aiming forward. There is nothing in the animations that allows for a "tracking" effect as you move in relation to your target. So, the developers decided to root during most power animations rather than let the game look like crap during play.
  5. Desktop is maybe 2 minutes. Laptop is around 6.

Of course my laptop has the dreaded Vista Display Driver crash problem (I hate Vista) which usually doesn't require a verification.

If it's been a while since I had a client crash I will usually verify files before I log in. It seems to have cut down my number of crashes lately. I have no idea if the two are related.
  6. Neither.

    Inertial Reduction.

I use Siphon Speed as a recharge booster. When I need to get somewhere I hit IR. Super Jump for 1 minute (perma) and you don't need to dip into a pool for it.
  7. I slotted mine with a Steadfast Res/Def and 3 Heals.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
nope, nothing. watch your combat stats or pay close attention to the orange numbers. you can also use the "healing delivered" channel to show you when you're getting the buff.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank you very much for the response. I'll feed that channel into one of my less used windows. I'm just the kind of person that wants to know things are working as intended.

    Acidon

    [/ QUOTE ]

Keep in mind the build up only lasts half the duration of the actual power, so 5 seconds as opposed to 10

I slotted my Focus with 5 Decimations (I wanted the 6.25% recharge bonus) including The BU proc, and a Thunderstrike Acc/Dam. It's not optimal slotting, but it is what got rid of the gap in my attack chain, which is FU-Slash-Swipe-Focus-Swipe-Slash-repeat. There was a split second gap between the second Swipe and Slash.

With my slotting Focus still hits for around 206 so it's not all bad I guess. I also have a BU proc in Follow Up.
  9. Dark Blast is a bad idea to add to an attack chain with a weapon set.

With Fire, Dark Melee, or Martial Arts you have nothing to worry about.

As far as Energy Torrent goes, I use it for extra damage mitigation in fights on a reguar basis. My BS/DA has it, and if I run into a situation where I need to hit Dark Regen and it's not recharged yet, knock em down. I can deal with redraw if it's the difference between victory and a faceplant.
  10. Probably a good thing anyway. You don't want the mez toggles on a stalker. If you run past something while hidden and forget to toggle them off it will notify enemies of your presence, thus breaking Hide.

I checked the numbers on CoF compared to other powers.

Normal to-hit is a base of 75% against an even con minion.
Controller single target mezzes has a 90% base.
Controller AoE Holds have a 60% base. (or so, don't remember the exact number)
In comparison, Cloak of Fear has a 50% base to-hit.

    It's accuracy is that bad.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
ClawsandEffect, .....NO DEATHSHROUD? are you FRAKKING kidding me?

    [/ QUOTE ]

In order to keep my endurance under control for a long AV fight, one of the toggles had to go. Unfortunately, Death Shroud got the axe, beacause I wasn't dropping any of my armors. The other reason I dropped it is I just didn't have the slots to give it to make it worth running.

Please note that this is not my main build. This is my second AV spec build. It looks nothing like this on the live server, but on test it works pretty good.
  12. I thought about it, and discarded the idea. It's in Health for the endurance recovery bonus. I'm trying to achieve positive endurance recovery so I can keep attacking and not run out of endurance with a minimum of 4 toggles running, 2 of which have a fairly high end cost.

I looked at my recharge options too. Unfortunately the setup I currently have is the only way I could get the 37.5%+ ranged defense I heard I needed against an AV with RI active. So recharge was sacrificed for defense.

Note: I'm also building with a budget, I don't have unlimited funds to put this together with. I already have 3 of the Fortunata's Hypnosis recipes I'm waiting to slot.

Anyone that has ideas to maximize recharge and endurance management without sacrificing more than .5% ranged defense, please share them.
  13. This is my planned Rad/Sonic level 50 respec. The idea here is to be able to solo AVs and GMs and still not be dead weight on teams. I'm rocking 38% ranged defense, so with Radiation Infection running I should be softcapped against AVs and GMs (since it's effectiveness is reduced to around 7-8% debuff) Not a whole lot in the way of recharge, which is one of the things I'd like to improve on. Any advice for better recharge without losing my ranged defense would be appreciated.

Too simple. I'd rather that it highlighted the misspelled words in big, red text, that required them to change it themselves before they could actually send it.

Broadcast would be much quieter. Especially if it didn't tell them how to actually spell the word. There are high school graduates out there with less than a 4th grade reading level. ...And they all find their way to the internet.

Who are you and what have you done with Werner?!

In response to the OP, Hover and Combat Jumping simultaneously is perfectly viable if you have room for both pools. And Hover does move quite fast now if you slot for speed.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
I noticed DR on your build costs about 23.7 w/o CP on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I also heal 800 some HP on 1 target the way it is slotted. Like I said before, the Theft of Essence proc's value isn't apparent in Mid's. It has a 10 or 20% chance to go off when I use the power, and it checks once for each target in range. If it fires on 3 or more of my targets I actually GAIN endurance for using Dark Regen. It will fire on 2 targets on average out of 10. So, on average, Dark Regen is costing me a net 3.7 end to use.

Theft of Essence: Chance for +End is the best single IO investment a Dark Armor anything can make. It really is that awesome.
  19. Dude, you need more end reduction in all those toggles.

And for the love of Pete, put some end reduction in Dark Regen, it's taking a THIRD of your end bar every time you use it! Dark Regen's base end cost is 33. I'm not sure, but I think that is the highest end cost for a non-nuke power in the game. I 6 slotted mine, the Theft of Essence +End proc is a lifesaver, it has a chance to proc for each target in range when you use the power.

Here's my BS/DA build. I don't run Cloak of Darkness full time, and Tough is a mule for the Res/Def IO. Should give you a better idea of DA slotting, if not the attacks. Look at the difference in end usage vs. recovery in your builds and then in mine. Your second build is burning 2.33/sec and recovering just under 4. That will run you out of end within 45 seconds of fighting, if that. It only drops to 1.27 WITH Conserve Power. In contrast, my build is burning .6 a second and recovering 3.41, it drops to .35/sec with Conserve Power running.

  20. Nope, no one forgot about it.

Cloak of Fear requires so much accuracy slotting to be effective that it doesn't really leave any space for a DW proc. If you DO slot one, you are probably sacrificing accuracy to have it, in which case it will not hit often enough to do you any good at all.

Death Shroud (the damage aura) has no to hit debuff in it, slotting the DW proc is impossible.

And the main thing with DA is NOT to not get hit. It is to leave minions unable to hit you, there is a difference. The rest of the set is resistance based, with a big honkin' self heal. A lieutenant or a boss will be hitting you plenty because the two status effect auras don't affect them.

Do more research on Dark Armor. Most people who use DA don't like Cloak of Fear because it has a very low base accuracy and requires an inordinate amount of slots to be effective. The reason no one mentions the Dark Watcher's proc is because they either never took the only power you can put it in, or they are using their slots to make it work in the first place.

And since we are getting sneak attacks when can I get different attack stats based on my weapon model?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm just asking for a change in the floating text...

In which case "Stealth Strike" would be appropriate.

Also, don't make the same mistake I made by clicking on the 1 month payment option. Choose at least the 3 month option to save yourself some bucks. You wont regret it

    Oh, but he does.

Funny that he decided he didn't like it by level 5. Makes me wonder how he managed to get so far in WoW.
  23. The first few levels aren't a very good indicator of the whole game.
The combat system is slow because you haven't built up very many powers to use yet.

Not to be mean, but that's kind of like deciding you don't like a movie based on the preview.
  24. They aren't that expensive either. Running one medium mission should net you enough to unlock all of them.
  25. Heh, they're making the snipes worth taking....and I happened to pick one of the only sets with no snipe as my sole Dominator.

At least they're buffing my primary's damage. I'm Gravity/Ice btw.
