Epic pools and redraw
I'm pretty certain you wouldn't want to add Dark Blast to a Katana attack chain due to the redraw, though I haven't done any number crunching to be certain. It's more of an assumption I made to the point of never even trying weapon chains with pool attacks.

That's the problem with me and crazy ideas like trying to build my second spec 15 mins after I just woke up. Crazy things happen.
Oh well, there's always my first spec. And I have a freespec that will soon be wasted when I15 comes out so, might as well use it.
I have Energy Torrent on my BS Scrapper, and the redraw sucks. However, It's negligible if you start a fight off with the attack OR end it. There's no reverse redraw. I usually do it that way.
That's a good point, it's a good finisher, especially if the mob is running away.
Dark Blast is a bad idea to add to an attack chain with a weapon set.
With Fire, Dark Melee, or Martial Arts you have nothing to worry about.
As far as Energy Torrent goes, I use it for extra damage mitigation in fights on a reguar basis. My BS/DA has it, and if I run into a situation where I need to hit Dark Regen and it's not recharged yet, knock em down. I can deal with redraw if it's the difference between victory and a faceplant.

Unless I was seeing things, I saw a kat scrapper send out nrg torrent with his sword, thus no redraw. It doesn't work that way on broad sword . As far as dark blast, I'm sure redraw will be an issue. Although, pointing the sword and a dark blast shooting out of it would be great animation, I don't see that happening. I wonder how many Link knockoffs would that start if that could be done. (Zelda anyone?)

You were. Powers (except for Brawl and the origin power) that don't use a weapon in the base animation and don't directly belong to a power set that uses the current weapon drawn will cause redraw.
I am at complete loss then.
I cannot, for the love of me, pick an epic pool that looks interesting since they all imply redraw. I loved the Dark pool's ST Hold, it was nifty to use with sappers etc. The weapons pool is a joke, and the other one looks very boring. Conserve power might fix my end issues, but it will only do so for a minute and a half every 6 minutes, three if slotted to the max.
I currently am level 47, I have all the inv powers taken (love that powerset) and 7/9 powers from Katana, excluding taunt and gamblers cut. I have swift-health-stam, and that's it.
The fighting pool, I can't stand. Kills my end bar, not useful enough for a solo character. Leadership was fun, makes my DPS very happy, but kills my end bar in the longer fights.
What do to, what to pick? I never though this possible, but I am facing a point where I have too many power slots. Wanna trade one of my powers for three of your slots? :P
Any suggestions?
Edit: interesting typos.
Take hurdle and call it a day. Or hasten if you don't have it already. And there isn't a law that says you can't have two travel powers.

I use the Dark Pool on my kat/sr scrapper.
It is not a part of my usual chain but the hold and blast prove useful in several situations.

I thought weapon sets were changed to include redraw as part of the activation time.

Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that you still need redraw. Some people really don't like that fact. I know from personal experience on my DB/SR that when I'm flipping out and slicing everything around me, having to stop and re-draw my blades every time Practiced Brawler comes around bums me out just a tiny bit. I personally don't mind, though, especially with the benefits of Practiced Brawler.
So it all activates in the same amount of time but the main gripe is just the fact that the animation takes place regardless of no loss in time?

No, it doesn't activate in the same amount of time. It USED to. Weapon sets were changed to STOP including redraw in the activation time. That sped up the weapon sets significantly, but created a redraw penalty. Redraw is now an issue, and generally something to be avoided in attack chains.

aye but the redraw isnt that bad really.. Just use the redraw to bypass the gaps in your attack chain.. a split second here a split second there.. keep jump on an easy button to stop you from stopping while you redraw..
To contradict my first own post, after intelligently reslotting my powers with only lv50 SOs and using a few more recharge slots, I find my attack chain to be much more efficient. I still took the dark pool for the hold and ST range damage for utility and so far, I have used them a few times.
Hello everyone.
Having chosen the dark mastery pool with my Katana/Invul scrapper, I was wondering how badly would the redraw affect me if I picked the dark blast power. It looked like a nice elegant way to smoothen my attack chain and the -tohit is nothing to scoff at.
So how badly does redraw affect me? Is it very noticeable?
I am well aware that picking Hasten and selling my firstborn to allow the IOing necessary to turn my scrapper into a buzzsaw would make my attack chain viable sans darkblast, but let's say I want to give dark blast a try?
