  1. It only buffs for a few seconds, so it's best just before they unleash a major AOE.

But it rarely starts except as a result of that big AOE due to its low chance.

I'm considering not using it in the next build, because slots are hard to allocate.

I'm sorry but being a DJ for a CoH Community Radio Station, we have had Holiday events going on for the last couple of weeks already. Yearly Events that used to be held in the Chalet. Now outside of the year that the Winter Event lasted for 2 months, usually its gone for about 6 weeks. Considering that it has a zone that is only available for this event, the amount of new players/characters fro Going rogue that do not have the event badges, and the fact that it is over most schools winter breaks, where people go on vacation, I really think the devs messed this up. It should have started earlier.

Yes there was a little problem due to I19 having to be pushed back by 2 weeks, but last week on Thursday, they did a test of it on the test server or the beta server (can't remember which) which I heard went well. They should have released it this week, or this Tuesday at the latest.

I know I will enjoy the event, and the chance to be in the chalet again, I just really wish the devs had not messed up on time frames, so SGs, Radio Stations, and others could spread out Chalet events that they run instead of cramming it all into a 2 week time frame.

    </rant>
This. Absolutely. The chalet is enough alone for me to vote this event as long as possible.
  3. I cleverly made 2 of my main alts staminaless through expensive HOs or powersets that could gain endurance themselves.

That just made the free stamina even more useful to them.
  4. What you have to realize is that the content is full of plotholes and retcons, and that's OK, unless it goes to ridiculous extremes (I15 TF...).

I only ask that it respect player origin and motivation choices.

I17 is hardly what you would call great writing in a movie, but it's excellent for a customization RPG and probably the most universally popular arcs in game.

You mean any that is written well.

That's among the reasons villain content is so terrible. They alternate randomly between trying to make a case they are the good guys, and being overt bad guys. You could find tons of examples of explicit public propaganda of BOTH. They also can't make up their minds if they are anarchists or fascists.

And sometimes they alternate in the same content!
  6. Reasons that I support the shadow shard as the coming storm:

There should be challenge, but avoid humanoid enemies stronger than the player at max

Since they are yet another extradimensional enemy they can endanger Praetorian earth and involve them

Shard is cool so use it

There are definitely ways to make an open power system work, but I won't get into them here at the moment.

What's being discussed here is open powersets, not open powers, anyway. That would actually be much easier to do than open powers, since you could add an archetype with an appropriate set of modifiers and banned powers for each combination.
  8. Can you add a macroslot command to a macro? That might make for some tricks.

That would make some of the TFs (imperious and 5th) make more sense, but I don't understand where you get that from the source which doesn't say anything about it.

Probably like those who read that shield charge's recharge was reduced in I18, but not that it was in fact reverted after being increased in beta, and insisted in public channels that shield charge was so much better now and it was recharging so much faster.

I still think that helped to reduce the shield charge nerf controversy. There was hardly a flame to be read.

Yup, I must have been incorrect.

Honestly any boost could be of use to an MM. It's a more competitive choice than, say, a brute, who would take either spiritual or the res or def boosts.
  14. I considered the vigilantes bad people from the start, and rogues relatively good, so I rather like how these are set up. After encountering some of the deranged vigilante fantasies some people have posted, advertising obviously the vig implications in giant neon letters is kind of refreshing and is somewhat like Watchmen, but with lesser writing. Those who want to be a vigilante in the sense you said can easily do so as heroes.

I complain that they are considered heroes for base and oro while rogues are not, however.

    That's the point.

It's a dumb rule that makes lowbies compete with 50s and further isolates PVP builds thus making PVP even less popular. The zone with the best PVP rules favors those who buy a whole alternate build just for level 30.

Yes, which is why I compare it to phantom army. It can be hard to:

Tell which of them are phased
Even if you can tell, to target them (clicking is hard, tab even harder)

This makes none of the dark miasma heals, tohit debuffs, or controls usable except fearsome stare.

    New Archtype

I'm against any further epic ATs. Powerets usable with any origin are preferable by far.

If you want a Rikti AT or whatever AT, I'd rather do it like this:

    1. Add the ability to pick a 'backstory type' that unlocks a series of Rikti or whatever arcs.
    2. Add tons of additional enemy group costume pieces.
    3. Add tons of additional enemy group weapon or power customizations.
    4. Possibly add some sort of VEAT style restricted costume to the backstory types, but honestly that's probably too much work and lots of them could be handled with normal costumes.

Build your own epic! This way you can have Rikti, Freakshow, or whatever epic AT you want and it is far less work intensive or cluttering than adding tons of epic ATs, while adding more customization options to every AT in the process. Seriously, there are 14, and if an epic can't work in a current AT, I'd rather implement it as a whole new general AT for more options.

    Procs in Toggles

How does this work with anchors such as snow storm?

Do AOEs have a greater chance if targeting many enemies?
  19. Heals are easily the most overrated in game and most underrated at the boards.

GMs may even have actual avatars they can use to go invisible, and mark our accounts with 1-star ratings!
Can you elaborate 'how seriously they take your bug reports?'

I try to make accurate reports, but I've had a few that I later discovered were incorrect, and usually tried to update the report, but there aren't effective tools for that.

Could that lead to any notes?

    Provoke?

Well, I can take either fighting pool (def cap) or provoke in i19. Undecided. I could take both if I skipped hasten, but I like hasten quite a lot.

  22. What does that have to do with anything?

I might as well just put Latin here for how much people inaccurately read between the lines things unrelated to what I said.

Note: I didn't even read most of this crazy topic. That was just a neutral statement. No need to go into rebut mode.
  23. From what I heard it is not the nature of the enemies, but an error in exp calculation.
  24. Or let GMs remove the farms, or add some sort of reward block if x people report until GMs can verify.

Granted, the mechanics of Black Hole were problematic, but geko's statement itself is not totally off the wall weird. The devs saw a thirty second break as being a defefnsive advantage; the players saw it as an offensive disadvantage.
To clarify, again, there may be a misunderstanding here:

The offensive mindset is not what I was getting at.

The thing that I read as remarkable in his statement is that it was pure theory. It sounded like he had never tried to use the power, because in practice, it does anything but remove enemies from action for 30 seconds. In a large mob it can make some dark miasma defensive powers unusable while a few enemies that were not phased attack you with impunity, hidden behind the invincible ones.

It reminded me of some other dev in some other game, who had a habit of explaining decisions with similarly simplistic theorycraft. His most recent power review had to be rolled back because it was so universally panned, and was reintroduced later by another dev, complete with most of the best requested ideas.
