Only time I die is when I run out of blue pills...

OMG CJ?!?!? DRRAAAAIN... -
I'm thinking the Shadow Maul hate is amplified by the single target mindset of Stalkers. Also consider personal playstyle, if you can't keep up the attention and button pushing needed for buzzsawing you may be happier with Shadow Maul.

The MA as a store is not good. Anything that nullifies existing content is not good.
The market is almost an entire issue of content that has all but been rendered obsolete. I see that as a waste of dev time.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to disagree, if I had a say I would get rid of the blackmarket/ww in a heartbeat. It was nothing but a headache unless one wanted to play profiteer. Sorry I play games to have fun, if I wanted to flip stuff I would get a job in ws.
My main gripe was it wasn't optional at all like it was supposed to be. Casual players had no way of ever getting enough $$ to buy anything worthwhile, and yet with the way drops work I seem to have such lousy luck, doing even regular tf's would not assure you would ever get your io's filled. (Speaking mainly redside where the population or supply/demand is just plain depressing.)
The MA store is a godsend to players like me and I'm sorry you don't feel that way.
If MA gets "fixed" or taken away as you suggest I might as well leave. I have had enough sleeps, snipes and confuses to last me a lifetime as well as immoblizes and the funny thing is I have 0 characters that can use any of these. Not to mention they sell for less in the market than vendoring them. Rare or not. bah
I really hate that loot *was* added to this game, but its here to stay so we have to make the best of it one way or another.
The only other option is allowing people to choose what drop they want from a TF/arc/whatever. Let people pick a recipe and be done with it. At least with the ma I have a better chance at rolling a lotg, I have 0 and many 50's...ugh
[/ QUOTE ]
*blinks*
okay. unless I'm wrong, "loot" has been in the game since day 1 as droppable enhancements. What the heck are you on about?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hardly standard mmo "loot" by any stretch. CoH "loot" at day 1 was for sale at every [censored] store open to every [censored] toon. Folks can take this semantic argument and shove it IMO. -

I had one for sale blueside for 80m (crafted), then I took it down by accident because I was trying to link it for an SG mate in chat, then I resold it lamenting the listing fee loss (4m) for 30 mil on an 11 inf listing :/

Fee's - Possessive
Come on, this is 2nd grade stuff

You ding this but not the misspelled "whoa" above it?!!? GAR!
Gotta agree with Nethergoat, don't really notice fee's myself. Then again 9 outta 10 I just list for 1 inf and smile at whatever I get, lowball or not. -

But what should I be doing in the mean time?
[/ QUOTE ]
I hate to say it, but in the mean time, die a lot. I was chain dying through my teens on my Claws/Super Reflexes. Super Reflexes is a late blooming secondary, though it at least starts pulling together in the 20s.
As far as more practical advice, at this level, I generally have my attacks slotted with accuracy and endurance reduction and not much else. That keeps me from eating through the blue bar. Don't waste more than a couple endurance reduction DOs in the toggles, or more than one SO when you get to that point. The main thing burning endurance is attacks, so that's the main focus for endurance reduction. Six slots is really too much for the toggles. I'd go with four with SOs, one endurance reducer and three defense. Conventional wisdom is also to slot up your attacks before your defenses. The rationale is that low level defenses don't do much, so your best defense is a good offense.
Ah, looks like a lot of this has already been said. Ah, well. Dittos, then.
[/ QUOTE ]
Going for the three-peat on this info. Single SO or so in Toggles, stack up the end redux in attacks. One toggle eats maybe 1.5 end over 10 seconds and one attack eats 5-10 ever 10 seconds, you do the math. -

I like how being a troll is a-ok with the powers that be, but stating the obvious gets you a slap on the hand from the Nanny Corps.

This is pretty much the whole problem right here but you have to cut it down to the part pre-comma. Where is that guy with the signature about "mods should use the ban button more" at? -
There are plenty of folks waiting to take "personal responsibility" and will do so as soon as the devs take "personal responsibility" and start defining things beyond, "we know it when we see it." See that goat guy poster's signature for a good summary. Hell we have folks TRYING to get the ball rolling with posts about explicit power leveling pacts using the AE vs. all the toughest mobs and bosses in paragon etc.... and the devs STILL aren't taking "personal responsibility" and answering these direct questions
Software is now, as par for the course, released in an unfinished product state. I would like to see how one can define all aspects of CoX as "finished." The AE is an even greater example of an unfinished product rushed to market than normal. Simple, OBVIOUS, errors and problems being rush patched and maps RIPPED out rather than fixed... Yeah, if you work in the gaming industry though then you're probably a perfect "ship it!" candidate.
Oh and this...

Oh definitely, and I was/am extremely happy with the animation on Propel on my Grav/Kin in issue 1 but it still sucked [censored] for a variety of reasons. I was blissfully ignorant and inexperienced enough to not care back then but now I appreciate the difference and effort made by folks to get attention to fixing it.

Which would be worse than the rest of the stalkers? IE: the original point of the "fix" was to put stalkers, excepting Electric Armor, above Scrappers? HA! I like it, good work sir. /em salute

If your missions keep getting pulled by the GMs, there are three possible explanations.
1) It is a farm.
2) It contains offensive material. You should have also received an e-mail if this is the case. If you republished this mission without removing said offensive material, you should have been banned.
3) The mission violates the EULA by being a derivative work. If you wanted to retell the Dark Phoenix Saga, and filled it with X-Men, this is not the place to do it.
Don't do these things, and your missions should be safe.
That is all.

I thought I found a fun mission to run based on 80's cartoons. What did I find? A total rip off of GI Joe, and not a good one. Seriously, how much clearer do they need to be about the rules for copyrights? I've been here since nearly the start of it and I've lost count on the number of times we've gone around on the EULA when it comes to copyrighted material.
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't make much sense to me. You were looking for 80's cartoon ripoffs, found one and reported it. If it was a "not a good one" ripoff maybe it was/is actually different enough to not violate copyright? -
Yeah but footstomping a bunch of level 5 trolls in The Hollows when you are level 50 is hardly amazart~!
-
....
Does this forum have some kind of mental problem? ADD or something? Maybe a lack of reading comprehension... Questions of "can i haz kin defender" when rule 5 clearly outlines you can not, or non sequiturs about soloing the TF when this ISN'T ABOUT SOLOING THE TASK FORCE, even people talking about purples when the lack of purples was the first dang RULE! And the farming talk needs to get stuffed. There are rules in place that allow whatever farming is allowed, IE: reduced rewards yadda yadda yadda so [censored] and get on topic or get out please.
Damage dealer focus? I know low level claws can get a great little attack chain going easily and I suppose you could do worse than /regen for fueling that attack chain indefinitely? -
I think I rolled up my SS/INV tanker at launch to about 40 in a month or so then rolled about 3 alts until I hit my Ice/EM blaster and got her to 50 in a month, so took me a little over 2 months to get that "first" 50. I came back to the tank around the time that they nerfed perma-unstopable and didn't come back to him for a lonnnnng time. Probably around issue 3 or 4 I got him to 50.

I'd rather play a tanker that did about 20% more base damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Doable with IOs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait... what? BASE damage up 1/5th with IO's? The base damage, that you then modify with enhancements.... it's not like those global damage bonuses go to BASE damage you know. If you pile on 5 +4percent damage set bonuses and your attack is slotted for 99.1 worth of damage enhancements (3 level 50 generic damage IO's for example) then you just end up with the attack being set to 119.1 percent worth of damage enhancement. This is about the same as popping a small damage insp...
I mean, christ, if you have played a tank and a brute you'll know that the brute with any amount of fury does so much [censored] more damage than the tank even though the brute has less BASE damage due to AT mods.... AUGH.
That's not even getting started with arguments about global recharge reductions and procs and such which. Which all is MOOT when you look at the fact that it can all be done for the brute too making the whole thing a mockery.
Because Brutes benefit so greatly from being a much more modernly designed CoV AT they just pretty much make tanks look like dipsticks. Is there any encounter in the game you can't easily team buff a brute to tank sufficiently? If not then might as well bring the guy that can get up to %850 damage buff too! -

Sounds like fun, but after 4 pages I started randomly clicking around and searching for the word "market" trying to figure out why this is in the The Market forum. GL to you though!
[/ QUOTE ]
Because he'll be selling the level-pacts for inf.
[/ QUOTE ]
So is this kind of thing covered by "all features of the game economy" in "The Market" forum description? I thought this forum was specifically about "discuss(ing) the Consignment Market system" but if it is more open to use for as a broad platform for any kind of sales at all then more power to yah.
Assuming that is true...
Is prostitution legal in Paragon City? If so we should start up some threads for pimps in the making and prostitute tryouts. Although seeing what happened on Craigslist lately we may have to set up a vetting system to and charge per post.
OOH, we could have a "influence begging" thread where newbs and veterans alike can beg for starter influence loans for their BM or CH starter kits.
Threads with standing offers to come RP with people on teams. Set up hourly rates and charge for things like actually talking in character all the time while you play with them vs. just kind of playing along.
Hell people can theoretically set up threads about anything and just just toss a throw away line about getting paid inf and suddenly it's valid in this forum I guess. There were people in the original thread that contended this plan should have the OP paying the level pact people. After all, he is the one that wants the benefit of the slow leveling.
Where is the flood of dipshits offering INF to the "ebil marketers" flipping salvage to stop? Every time I go to buy something stupid like an uncommon tech salvage and some yahoo is getting his jollies off buying it all out and re listing it at 100,000+ a pop I get annoyed, laugh, list a low ball bid to get what I want eventually and walk away but I think, "I was willing to pay a reasonable premium but this is just retarded..." I wonder if I should pop into The Market forum instead and try and pay some of these "wunderkinds" to [censored] with their plans instead. Would that be griefing I wonder... paying a headhunter to take out the annoying guy who is foolishly trying to corner some random piece of the market he can't possibly hold onto?
How about request threads for Brutes to wander around the starting area in Mercy picking on newbs and threatening them for lunch money! I'd gladly pay folks some infamy to spend an hour or two at peak times "asking" the new villain kids for their big starter inspirations or low level TO's.
We could offer players 1000 inf per activation to go to the market or AE area and spam their AoE heals and footsomps etc. Or bind a key to the belch or roar emotes and spam them until they overlap. Maybe set up a concert of belches, roars and whistle emotes!!
Why not post the OP idea in, say, the server specific forum of where they are going to be doing this? Seems more like what they are doing is an event that happens to involve wanting to be paid for doing it. Probably not quite the level of an "event" though but maybe could repost in the events forum too. If he comes up with a role play idea to describe what is happening could also throw it in the roleplaying forum. He DOES ask a question so I guess just chuck it into the Player Questions forum!
I'm pretty interested actually if it's okay to talk about anything in The Market forum as long as an exchange of goods or services goes down. Obviously things that they don't allow like RMT shouldn't be discussed but I wonder if this could be the hot new hang out for people broadcasting "TV Farm only 100,000 infamy a run!" and things of that nature. There are whole new vast fields of crap we can flood The Market forum with! -

I want challenge. I want difficulty. I want to fight the hardest and most ridiculous mission possible. I want all the forces of City of Heroes allied against and then I want to take my army and steam roll them in ludicrous fashion. I don't want to exploit. I want to use intelligence, skill, talent, planning coordination and a love for all things that consist of outrageous fast paced explosive action

Careful Smurphy. I had two accounts banned for exactly this. I made a mission with the hardest possible bosses... and was able to do it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Owch, that's not grounds for banning IMO :-/
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure it is. It's in the EULA that they can do whatever they want whenever they want.
They can ban you if they don't like how you spell your name.
Sounds like they've decided to start utilizing such arbitrary rulings. Pretty dumb thing to do, but hey there has been a lot of dumb things being done as of late, so why stop now.

He did say it was, explicitly, "IMO..."

Before I9, did you hear people complaining that things were too expensive? That they could not outfit their character in whatever way they wanted with no effort?

Yes, we did.
Every person without a high level character had this exact problem.
Remember being broke at 12? 17? 22? 27? 32?
To think that the good ol' days featured no one suffering because of lacks of funds is silly.
[/ QUOTE ]
I remember it quite clearly. The only period I felt my first toon EVAR, a SS/INV tank, was short-ish on cash was around 22 when I was upgrading from DO's to SO's. Before that, I took everyone's advice and sold things at the proper stores and upgraded/combined stuff to make it last. After my first 50 I never felt any of my twinked toons were short on cash. By the time I was in my 30's I felt like I could go out and earn anything I wanted to buy just by playing normally.
Just one players experience since launch. -

Yeah I'm having [censored] Abbot and Costello "Who's on First?" flashbacks over here, christ.
For input, I got the stupid trap of the hunter too recently. -
"Purple out" and Epic AT are the only ones listed that you can't do before end game and you don't get to list those without listing their very real counterparts in the other games listed, IMO.
-
[ QUOTE ]
The game doesn't force you to give mez protection to melee mobs. It's easy to keep an AoE immobilize power up permanently, because they last longer than the recharge time. Normal PvE enemies always have ranged attacks, and custom critters need them too. Maybe they need to be toned down, or the enemies should rely on them less, but they can't be removed without creating an absurd exploit.
[/ QUOTE ]
I dunno about "absurd" but "old" for sure. In some other RPGs, rooting and blasting stuff was considered smart gameplay... but then again the mobs could root and blast your [censored] too! I'd rather use "absurd" for things like killing mobs with renditions of the Dead Parrot sketch from Monty Python personally. -
I've experienced what felt like the OP's issue too but I chalked it up to 50 percent what Fulmens said and the rest to bad luck.
-
Folks would do well to let go of their dearly held positions that they are becoming so identified and entrenched with as to become self destructive in both argument and in game play. The false dichotomies of having to choose between 'ONLY HEALZOR' and 'ONLY BUFFZORZ' also are getting old. Even the most heal heavy sets have been shown to have tools beyond just healing in this thread. Once you stop being mad because someone says "looking for healer" in broadcast or being insulted because you brag about being not mature and someone basically recognizes that as useless and, instead, go out and play the game with a strong sense of internal self worth and understanding that those poltroons in broadcast can be easily manipulated you will start having a lot more fun.
Even some of the most outspoken and decent minds on this forum have wandered into this thread and "stirred the pot" so to speak. Those of you who post frequently and contribute much in the way of intelligent discussion, guides, etc. could do better in spreading the knowledge that layered defenses generally end up working better than specialized defenses. A thread like this could be a platform for speaking out on that fact and would probably do a lot better than boiling down to angry posters getting their feelings hurt because they decided to take a pot shot at a poster that didn't feel like letting said shot go unanswered and such.
Having good buffs makes healing better and vice versa?
