I'm happy AE's replaced for the most part GV farms

since the ae patch I have noticed a sever decline in GV farms. Especially people charging or asking for paid PL farms. I am truly happy because that was so very lame and greedy!!! Nobody should ever pay to join a farm period. Even though it isn't perfect as of yet. It is fun so far for what I see and hear on teams. I say congrats on a job well done. All the greedy tards can now find another way to scam cyber money from people.

I think that the true reason that farms are discouraged is because NCSoft is afraid that the end game content isn't interesting enough to keep people playing. Farms aren't bad for the game unless there is nothing to do after you hit max level. That is the true reason why this game will die when Champions Online comes out. This makes me sad because I truly enjoy this game. I actually like to play some of my level 50 toons.

From what I (may or may not) have seen of CO so far?

CoH/V has NOTHING to fear in that regard.

People have predicted the death of games with a new release since the dawn of online gaming. Very very games actually close down shop unless they are absolute and total flops. Of course, NCSoft did have one of those (that car wars one), but hey....

When CO comes out or Marvel Universe Online, CoH will take a hit in population. I don't doubt it. But will the game end? Heck no. The worst case scenario is that they'll start to look at server merges to help keep up the population. But I have a feeling that CoH will be the WoW of hero games. It'll always be here plunking along.

Me? I'm itching to plunk down my $15 to get "going Rogue" so I can finally start to redeem my villans or let my heroes fall to darkness. I've got a great villan concept I've never really played because her concept almost 'requires' redemption with time. Two actually, both Master Minds.

And oddly either could be 'heroic' given the chance.

Interesting thing though is CO has the feeling that it is the real COH II

Two, NCSoft had two games shut down in recent history. Auto Assault (the car one), and Tabula Rasa (the overly ambitious Richard Garriott one). Both games, in my opinion, were not unique enough to differentiate themselves from other games of similar types, especially when you consider they required a subscription-based pay-to-play model. Despite that, NCSoft is coming out with Aion which was already launched in Korea (Q4 2008).

I have no doubt many will check out other Superhero games out there, but no Superhero out there is already as established as CoX already is, so many people may simply return to their more familiar stomping grounds, at least while the shiny new kids on the block get their feet under them.

About the AE farms, one must realize that farms will simply replace farms. It's the basic law of Evolution, people adapt, farmers included. You can try and take the farming or the farmers from the game, but you can't take it out of the players.

I believe that a Kheldian Gold Standard should be based on SO's, and for anything above that... there's Platinum!

I don't get this feeling at all. If anything, the engine reminds me of Tabula Rasa with tights, and I've seen all of its iterations for quite a while now, where it went from OMG AWFUL to eye-wincingly bland.

You're talking about the Graphic Engine, not the Game Engine, correct?

You forget that unlike some other MMOs, here the game starts at level 1. It's a different mind set that some people just don't catch onto. And I rather doubt any one toon has done everything by the time they hit 50, seeing how it's so easy to outlevel contacts and so on.

Not hardly. Maybe CoH 0.05.

Doesn't feel that way to me.

Ah, the good ol' endgame.

SWG: Squeezing another 0.02 firing speed out of your scatter pistol for the edge in PvP. That was fun.

WoW: Two words: LEEEEROY JENKINS!

FFXI: Switch yo' class and start over, foo'. Oh, and it takes eight months of grinding to get there. Have fun.

EVE: This is the grind that never ends, it goes on and on my friends...

TR and AA: I'll tell you when I get there... where'd my game go? *tear*

CoX: Roll a VEAT/Kheld. Run an endgame TF/SF. Purple out. Work on badges. Go to Ouroboros and run content you missed. Go to the AE and play nothing but new missions, and give people helpful suggestions and ratings.

Frankly, I don't see any reason to complain about CoX's endgame.

"Purple out" and Epic AT are the only ones listed that you can't do before end game and you don't get to list those without listing their very real counterparts in the other games listed, IMO.

CO and Co* are two very different games. For that I am extremely thankful. If Co* were anything like CO, I'd have never come back. I can't stand twitch-based action games where if you fail to block one time you're suddenly a greasy spot. You can have that Halo 3 crap. Give me a compelling MMORPG with interesting characters and enjoyable non-console gameplay, thanks

Uh, all the pros you listed for CoX are all doable in the other games you listed (with the exception of badging) so I don't see what your point is. You can't use that kind of logic to praise a game while degrading others. Especially since in terms of depths of content, a lot of those other games do offer more alternatives than CoX, even if much of it is fluff or time sink. Unless of course you're a CoX fanboy in which case I apologize for having responded to your post because it is uncharacteristic of me to waste time with fanboys to begin with.

And to the OP. Frankly, if any lowbie wants to squeeze their way into a high level farm group (unless they're a friend/SG mate of someones), they should be charged a fee. It's not about greed but principle, three of them to be exact.

1. If you're going to sit at entrance and do nothing, you should pay for that luxury while someone else is doing the work. One exception is that you are LKing someone else's alt for better exp. In which case your presence is mutually beneficial(symbiotic relationship) and you're not just hitching a free ride.

2. Even if you're going to fight with the team, you're still not going to contribute to the team as much. That's a fact, not a theory. Player skills being equal, a level 50 IOed out character is always going to be more effective than a 1-30 character armed with DOs and SOs. There can be no argument about that.

3. There is no such thing as a free lunch in this day and age. Charity shouldn't be given to people who don't need it.
