And it wasn't JLove who designed it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No? Then who did?

  2. [ QUOTE ]
Ahh... that would explain it. This is my first hero after a few years of strictly playing villains. I went right from my Galaxy City contact to radio missions in Kings Row 'cause I remember how much of a pain in the rear the Hollows is, and all the level 5 - 9 contacts would send me there. :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hint: If you go to the Hollows first and talk to David Wincott (just talk, don't accept a mission) you can avoid being sent there by your first second tier contact.

Also, if you do just one mission for your first second tier contact he/she will introduce you to another second tier contact. Do one mission for him/her and he/she will introduce you to another. You can continue doing this until you have the max of 5 zone contacts per level range. These in turn will introduce you to your third tier contacts at level 10.

This will give you a solid base of contacts to choose from so that you can always be sure to have access to those badge and temp power missions as you level up.

  3. Have you ever spoken to a Broker with your Dom?

If you haven't spoken to a Broker they will all appear in your Active tab until you speak to one and get your Newspaper contact. Same goes for Detectives and the Police Radio.

Were you introduced to a new contact yet?

Your primary contact probably has an introduction waiting for you. He or she will continue to appear in your Active tab until you have received the introduction.

For those of us who have not seen the Ulterior costume set yet, here's a link for your perusal.

    Ulterior

I think I will be using this set (or pieces of it) on a lot of my alts. Props to JLove for a job well done.

    What do you think?

  5. [ QUOTE ]
I have never chosen the Ghost Slaying Ax option and am curious about those who have. What mobs did they work against? And did their value run out after a certain level or continue to serve you right through level 50?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Favored enemies for my Ghost Slaying Axe users are the Circle of Thorns, the Tsoo, the Banished Pantheon and the Carnival of Shadows. The axe serves me well even at level 50.

But then I have both powers on all of my alts now. The 54 month Vet Rewards lets you choose from the powers you didn't choose before and I always pick the melee power since the Nem Staff and Black Wand don't get their origin bonuses for this reward choice. So, all of my characters have ended up with both Sands of Mu and the Ghost Slaying Axe.

If you add Tactics into your build even the lack of accuracy on these powers is not a detriment. This works out nicely for SoAs.

Edit: Also, from level 10-15 the Ghost Slaying Axe comes in handy on redside if you want to go hunting ghostly Pirates in Port Oakes to unlock Veluta Lunata.

the only other way is to run the arc with somebody ese who is running theirs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Or you can do this:

Right before you do your patron arc use the character copy tool to copy that character to test. Then copy him again (creating a yourname1 version) and again until you have a version of him for each patron. Now you can experience all of the patron arcs with the same character.

If you already started the arc you're out of luck. Sorry.

  7. <QR>

I'd also like to note that even though you may not be SuperLeader you probably still have rights to both pay base rent and edit the base as those are usually on for Leaders by default.

Have you tried paying the base rent since you've been back? If not do so. You may not even need to communicate with the SL if you have the permissions you want.

It's not that complicated. The exiting doors go to zones with increasing level ranges from left to right (when facing the exits). Steel Canon on the left, the lowest level; Croatoa in the middle, the middle range; and Founder's Falls on the right, the uppermost range.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, however this is not immediately evident. Upon your first time entering the club there is nothing anywhere that tells you which exit is which. It's something you have to be told or get used to by trial and error. Adding signs would eliminate that need.

[/ QUOTE ]Nothing except the door you just came through. I've only left through the "wrong" door once, and after that I knew where each door led. It's like an actual RPG - you need to explore to find things. Building the world for the lowest common denominator gets extremely annoying for all the players that aren't the lowest, especially for an issue as minor as this.

If you go through a door you didn't mean to, you've added maybe a minute to your travel, give or take especially long or short load times. If that small amount of extra time frustrates you so much, then learn which door is which.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Funny how we have signs above all those freeway exits in Paragon if we're supposed to explore everything and those are actually listed on the map as well. Sorry to disagree with you, Fleet, but such a crossroads in any other RPG would be labeled to avoid confusion.

And depending on your machine and connection just waiting for the wrong zone to load can take more than a minute. Then you have to load back into the Midnight Club and try again.

It's not like there are any evident signs in the library areas, like there was when the Steel Canyon wing was the only one that had the Skull. They're all identical now.

Your mock up is a good idea but i dont think it fits the old archaic theme of the club. Perhaps the zone name could be chiseled in the stone above the doorway. Or if you wanted to keep things a bit more cryptic, just a small statue above the doorway would be cool, kinda like old gothic groteques (gargoyles) but they could be heads of the hero statue in that corresponding zone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course the signs could be done in a style that matches the club theme better, but I think I would prefer to still see the names of the zones as new players won't necessarily be familiar with the statues that happen to appear in each.

Also, I don't recall any hero statues in Croatoa and the ones in Steel Canyon and Founders Falls really aren't that recognizable without their bodies.

The gargoyles are a good idea though. Maybe have the gargoyles holding the signs in a little inset area above each door?

  11. Don't you think it would be nice if heroes knew where they were going when they were exiting the Midnight Club into the various zone libraries?

Something as simple as this mock up would do nicely and would save players from excessive loading because they chose the wrong door.

Personally, I've gotten used to the doors and remember which is which now. But I remember when I wandered into Founders or Croatoa accidentally when the Club was first introduced, and many players still have this problem.

    Quick question

Oh, I did not realize this. Thank you.

Why do Performance Shifters not go for higher prices on the market then? Last I checked a Chance for +End was going for 5000 or less. You would think it would cost more if it was so effective.

  13. Blackavaar

    Quick question

I believe procs are only effective when placed in powers that have to be activated. I don't think the chance will ever happen if you place it in Stamina as that is an auto power.

That's why Performance Shifters aren't a big price IO set at the market. They really only work well for powers like Dark Consumption or Speed Boost.

So, don't slot it. It won't do anything and you'll be losing either the +Rec from your Stamina (if you replace a common IO) or an enhancement slot that could be better used somewhere else (if you add an extra slot).

  14. [ QUOTE ]
Also, Blackavaar, how are you able to "usually predict" the "big AV attack"? That would definitely be useful, but it seems to me that the only way to do so would be to familiarize yourself heavily with that particular AV.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually all you have to do is watch them fight someone else for about 3-5 minutes. NPCs generally attack in the same pattern over and over again. If you familiarize yourself with their pattern, you can predict when they are going to use the big attack by watching for the attacks that precede it.

You can actually do the same thing with a lot of PvP players when they become too stuck on their attack chain.

  15. Blackavaar

    Random Question

Mobs generally aren't placed a certain amount of space apart. They are placed at predetermined intervals within the mission depending on the kind of map the mission is.

A warehouse for instance will generally have 1 spawn point per hallway and then 3-6 spread across large rooms. A (CoT) cave on the other hand will only have spawn points in every other intersection and then anywhere from 1-6 mobs placed in the last room depending on the size of the room.

As you get used to the maps you will learn where the spawn points will be for each different type.

  16. All 9th row defensive powers are meant to be situational. They are good for taking alpha strikes and surviving that big AV attack, which you can usually predict. They're not meant to be used for every fight with every group of chumpy minions that have no chance of doing anything to you while they are on.

I know that's how the Paragon Protectors use them, but that's not really how they are meant to be used.

  17. I could swear I remember reading somewhere that Arachnos Soldiers (Crabs, Banes) were going to be able to make a helmetless costume. I can't remember if it was supposed to be in i14 or i15. I can't seem to find the post I read it in.

    Does anyone else remember this?

Has this been added already but I'm just not making the right selections? I've checked on live and test and the only categories still appear to be Wolf with Helmet and Crab with Helmet.

    Thanks in advance.

I could see a 'Spy' AT as you say (Epic available to both sides) and introduced with GR would make sense, but I'd almost expect that it would be the Hallmark of the Expansion and showcased even more than Maelstrom and Desdemona. Of course, it's still a good way down the pike... apparently. So there's plenty of time to give a new Epic its props.

Still, I'd really wonder what a 'Spy' AT could/would do that would make it a whole lot different than a Bane. I just dunno.

To reiterate the answers to the OP for staying 'on topic': it's an Expansion not and Expansialone, and links to the Announcement have been given. All else is hearsay.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh! Oh! Can I guess about the presumptive Spy AT powersets?

How about.... All primaries across all AT's are available as primary and all secondaries across all AT's are avialvable as secondaries?

    ...

    ...

Well, you have to admit.. it would be fun.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah.. an Invul/Invul spy would be kinda redundant though. lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah.. main attack would be brawl... and.. brawl...

(Not everyone has vet rewards.. )

    [/ QUOTE ]

So? That would give you a nearly godlike invulnerable punchvoke tank? What's the problem with that?

Sure he wouldn't be doing a lot of soloing but he would be impossible to take down with double shields running all the time and hey, no attacks to use up all that endurance. Single slotted Stamina would keep him at the top of the blue indefinitely.

  19. I really don't see why it is such a pain to travel. I mean, seriously. Not only do we have all of these methods of teleportation (Ouroboros, Pocket D, etc.) we have the fastest and koolest travel powers of all the MMO games... ever. Why is it that we seem to never want to use them?

Maybe they should add a Supergroup Registrar, Respec Contact, Tailor and Trainer to every AE building? Then we could just park our butts in there and never have to use our travel powers at all. Woo hoo! [/sarcasm]

I'm not really against making it easier to pay rent, but I don't see traveling in this game to be any kind of hardship.

    Non-combat pets!

    [ QUOTE ]
since they are just fluff, why not make them purchasable with tickets from AE. then they could be either a model of the full size version or just a hologram that looks real.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would rather they be added as regular recipes. That way they can be purchased or dropped via all means in the game.

Tying them all to AE forces use of the MA, which is optional. Maybe tie one specific one to AE, a mini holo-contact.

    Voice Choices

Remember when /e howl was first added to the game? For about a week you couldn't run 5 yards in Atlas without hearing someone howl. It got so annoying they had to institute a block to keep people from spamming it.

Also, the grunt and footstep sounds are tied to your model selection. If they do ever figure out how to make model selections adjustable at the Tailors they may need to implement a Voice selection to make it work.

Suggested list of voice and movement audio selections:

    Male (standard)

Male Young (younger voice, same footfalls as Male)

    Female (standard)

Female Young (younger voice, same footfalls as Female)

    Huge (standard)

Huge Young (younger voice, same footfalls as Huge)

Animal (high bestial grunts, padded footfalls with the hint of scraping nails)

Beast (deep bestial grunts, padded footfalls with the hint of scraping nails)

Robot (no grunts, clinking and clanging footfalls)

Huge Robot (no grunts, deep clanging footfalls)

    Feed my eyes!

    Yes, yes. /signed

In addition, some nice pics of NPCs doing this and that placed within mission text would be nice also. That way instead of just being told about the Vahzalok stealing bodies or the CoS kidnapping people you could actually see images of them doing it.

    Non-combat pets!

    <QR>

Yes, I want a Kronos Dwarf.

  24. Dark Melee/Willpower Scrapper, Stalker or Brute.

    Willpower/Dark Melee Tank

    Dark Miasma/Dark Blast Defender

    Mind/ Controller

    Mind/Mental Dominator

    Zombie/Dark Miasma Mastermind

Of course you can always use weapon powersets too. Vamps are big on blades.

The main thing I always try to represent is the vampire regeneration. So, when I'm making a vampire character I try to stick to powersets that give regenerative powers.

  25. Blackavaar

    Newspaper!

You can already do that with Print Screen in first person view. The camera would just be for show. Having the activation of the camera actually taking a screen shot would be kool, but it's not really necessary.
