Vampire ATs and ideas @_@

What AT/Powersets do you think would you choose if you were going to make a vampire?

Been playing just over the three month mark. I'm totally into Vampires at the moment (Been watching Vampire videos on Youtube and totally getting into it.)

I considered a Necromancy/Dark Mastermind, but then I realized I've never seen a Vampire that controls Zombies. I sort of gave that up as a silly idea. Then again... Vampires and Zombies don't stray too far from each other.

Dark/Dark Miasma Corruptor?
Dark Melee/Dark Armor Stalker?
Dark Melee/Dark Armor Brute?
...................................Scrapper?
...................................Defender?

Any ideas?

K. About the names... What exactly is the limitations on our names? No copyright/trademark infringments, right? Would the name of Vampires from books or movies be too much? I'm guessing people would catch onto that fast, eh? I usually name my characters all starting with the same word (a short nickname followed by my character's name.)

I went to http://www.emmadavies.net/vampire/ and tried to get a vampire name... This turns out to be my vampire name according to them.

Is there a website you usually use to make your characters' names or do you think of it on your own?

The only character I have that is strictly a "vampire"/kindred is a storm/dark defender.

You get a lot of good drains in the dark scrapper set. I have a goth character that's a dark/dark scrapper. Dark Armor drains a lot of endurance and can be kind of a pain to deal with.

It looks like you are looking mostly for the villain side though.

So yeah, a Stalker would work well. I'm sure some would be against claws, but I think that they work well for vampire.

I'd say any combo of dark, claws, and weather control would work as far as vampires go.

I wouldn't over look willpower or regen. Regen is green, but regen is pretty obviously a trait that vampires are known for.

Yeah, swiping names is right out. Read the EULA and Codes of Conduct and it is pretty clear on that. That goes for blatant costume rip-offs as well.

A random generated name? Huh, I see.

I ported over a Ravos from a WoD game that I played in. The powers don't match exactly, but the illusion set didn't really work with the way that he used his powers at any rate. That's why I went with the Storm/Dark.
His name is Vlangdel. He's over on Protector.

I think you're probably likely to run into a lot of vampire/kindred over on Virtue. As Virtue is the unofficial RP server, you'll most likely find your best RP experience there. Check out the Pocket D - there are always players there RP'ing on Virtue.

oh, almost forgot - I always make up my own character names.

Ah, I love concept builds.

Let's see, your zombie dark MM isn't so far of a stretch as you think, depending on your mindset. Think a vampire lord as opposed to a solo vampire.

If you want the solo vampire route, a stalker would be the ideal. Dark melee/Dark Armor would be the ideal concept build, but you can also make a case for regen if you want, though the green aura would be off-putting.

Power pools: Lets see, for MM, Leadership (duh!) and flight would be essential for a concept build. You could also use stealth and teleport, but those aren't essential. (Vampire Lords don't do the hiding thing)

The stalker's PP would have to go with fitness as a standard and Teleport. Flight if you have room for it, not just for concept but also for navigation.

Patron Powers: Soul pool would be the quintessential to the vampire, considering that the patron is undead herself.

I can't really see any other ATs for it, though an argument could be made for a dominator with a fighting power pool, but it's a stretch. Brutes are too brutal, corruptors don't bring anything to the concept, and all of the hero ATs are designed around being noticed, which is not a vampires M.O.

I have a vampire concept character myself, he is a Broadsword/Regen Scrapper. I think it fits pretty well personally. He has a red, armored look using mostly Valkyrie pieces plus the Occult high collared cloak. Yeah, Regen has that glowie aura toggle, but at 30 I gave him green fiery eyes, looks like eerie spectral flames coming out of him and then the Regen glowie just reinforces the look. Incidentally, green is also a complimentary color to red.

Just off the top of my head, some power sets that come to mind are:

Dark Anything
Regen
Willpower
Super Strength
Any of the swords
Claws maybe
Super Reflexes
Invulnerability
Storm

There's really a LOT of things you could do with it depending on what "type" of Vampire you can envision him as. Heck, pretty much anything aside from maybe stuff like Radiation and Assault Rifle would fit. After trying out a Dark Melee Scrapper I'm especially fond of its attack animations for a Vampire type character.

If all else fails, you can model your idea after the Vampyri in the Council group. They use Dark Melee powers, some Regeneration abilities, and have access to some Dark Blast powers. So I would pin them as DM/Regen/Dark Mastery Scrappers. Alternatively, the higher ranks also have access to some mind controlling abilities, so Mind Control isn't out of the question.

Main Hero : Annilixxion -- Lv50 Blaster
Main Villain : Menkaura -- Lv41 Mastermind

I vote for the combo of Kinetics & Dark Blast, either as a defender (kin/dark) or a corruptor (dark/kin). Kinetics to me can represent the sucking of life forces, especially Siphon Power & Siphon Speed.

I also have a Dark/Regen Scrapper, with the Regen representing vampiric fast healing.

FYI

The old "Vampire: The Masquerade" role playing game had a whole clan of Necromancer vampires.

That game has a whole bunch of concepts and ideas that you could use (As long as you dont break the EULA with names)

Inv/SS Tanker or SS/Inv Brute. Vampires are strong, and theiy're tough. Definitely need the Presence pool too, because they're scary.

To be truly unique though, you'll need to make something CoX has never seen before: an evil vampire that drinks blood and maybe even kills some folk. It's long been a dream of mine to create a vampiric SS/Inv brute that drinks blood and kills folk and doesn't get angsty about it. You don't feel bad for the cow while eating your burger. You don't feel bad for flaying the skin off an orange and tearing out its insides with your teeth. Why should a Vampire feel bad about killing people? It's just food.

Been here 4 years, and have yet to see an evil, non-angsty vampire. And I see about one new vampire themed hero/villain a day, so that's saying something.

Although, I do remember a Fire/Something tanker that claimed to be a super tough vampire. So tough he just ignored the fact that he was lit on fire by sunlight as he ran about saving the city.

Warhammer vampires lead entire armies of zombies and skeletons.

A Dark/Dark or Dark/Regen Scrapper or Stalker sounds like it'd work well to me. But honestly, there's so many different definitions and versions of 'vampire' that there's not really much you can't try.

Oh, and don't -dare- use heroic Invulnerability or the sparkle aura.

Don't think of them as zombies so much as Ghouls, spawn, and thralls.

My Necro/Dark is a vampire - took the life drain attack, and gloom (I think) and slotted the latter with entropic chaos - so one WILL heal me while hurting "you", the other has a chance to heal me while it WILL hurt "you".

Mine is Broadsword/Regen as well, but I do like the idea of Dark Melee/Regen/Dark Mastery.

The Vampires in game have Dark powers. Either a Dark Corruptor, Dark Brute, or Dark Stalker would be perfect, depending on if you're thinking of a spell casting wizard type of vampire, a rampaging, feed off its foes to grow stronger type of wizard, or a stealthy, stab you in the back then drink your blood kind of vampire.

I personally think the vampire MM leading an army of zombies is pretty cool, though.

Dark Melee/Willpower Scrapper, Stalker or Brute.

Willpower/Dark Melee Tank

Dark Miasma/Dark Blast Defender

Mind/ Controller

Mind/Mental Dominator

Zombie/Dark Miasma Mastermind

Of course you can always use weapon powersets too. Vamps are big on blades.

The main thing I always try to represent is the vampire regeneration. So, when I'm making a vampire character I try to stick to powersets that give regenerative powers.

But inv isn't sparkly/shiny on villainside. You turn into a blob of purplish black crap.

Inv is very shiny heroside, though.

Mine was a Dark Melee/Super Reflexes scrapper, a mix of presence and, well, superhuman reflexes. It worked beautifully.
