Stalkers can't even two shot anymore, they even slowed ET down to extend lives.
[/ QUOTE ]
THIS IS NOT TRUE!!!!
I can 2 shot Blasters/Defenders/Controllers, and on rare occasions I've 2 shotted a few scraps too, it can happen!
No inspirations. Just Build Up. True story.

Shark missiles don't count.
[/ QUOTE ]
Funny how people always wanna make up how they think something is done, or the only way they can conceive it.
BU+AS+ET= Dead about 35% of the time on a "soft target"
and I run RV, so the shark counts. -

I've been playing this game on and off for a while and have only now decided to try out the pvp. I have a fire/stone tank sitting at 50 and want to try him out in RV. Before I logged yesterday, I parked him in the RV base and was shocked by the combat attributes display.
He had fire shield and tough running for a total smashing/lethal resistance of ~46%. I opened the full combat attributes window and under smashing resistance it listed fire shiled with ~48% and tough with ~23%. Okay so maybe that's diminishing returns in action and enforcing a soft limit of ~45%, but that seems kind of low for a tank. I checked in mids and it listed the total resistance as ~70%. I searched through this forum, but did not find any mention of what the resistance limit for tanks is or whether mids is completely off on all pvp numbers.
So my questions is,
Which number is more accurate for my fire tank, ~45% or ~70%?

The lower one. -

I'd say nuke both Group Fly and Group Teleport from orbit and rewrite them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd like Group Teleport a zillion times more if it was reconfigured to be Team Recall (i.e., "Assemble the Team").
[/ QUOTE ]
You've apparently never seen TTP used properly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which, in itself, might suggest something isn't quite right with it. I, for one, have never seen Team Teleport used... Ever. And I'm not joking.
[/ QUOTE ]TTP is a combat maneuvering power, that lets the entire team enter a spawn at the same time. This disperses aggro, and allows PBAoEs to envelop the whole spawn immediately. It was used to great effect on the Fire/Rad superteam (Hotfeet + Choking Cloud x8 all affecting the spawn at once), and it was used occasionally on the Traps superteam I was on (keeping everyone inside the stacked FFGs when the alpha hit). I've also seen several Masterminds use it to great effect. For teams like the Frads, it not only serves as protection (disperse aggro among a team of squishies) and offense (Hotfeet/Choking Cloud combo), but also speed (no travel time between spawns).
It's not a common power by any means, but it does have use.
[/ QUOTE ]
I might be missing something here, but wouldn't Team Recall do essentially the same thing you are describing?
[/ QUOTE ]
No. You are missing something.
See either link in Sig (the RV one demonstrates TTP to a greater degree)...you can't do that will assemble team. -
In the Zones: I'd go with Stalkers being King.
In the Arena: I'd go with Blasters being King.
Doesn't matter the order of the rest, they're peasants anyway. -

If you want to kill noobs go EM if you want help to dmg L337z go spines.
[/ QUOTE ]
My EM/Nin kills indiscriminantly. My Newly rolled DM/Nin will also. (just hit 50 Yesterday , still shopping)
Spines takes less skill to get kills though, I'm guessing that's why it's considered "the best", it honestly shouldn't even be a Stalker set IMHO. -

I would like a melee character (Tank,Scrap, or Brute).

Defeated complainers have little credibility in PVP land, since they seem unwilling to slog up the road of pain that leads to respectable fighting ability, or to miss the harsh reality of the situation. So yes, your QQ made things worse. And as noted above, if chat PVP can get you spun up, your verbal adversary has gained game advantage by rattling you.

I approve this message.
Seriously people....TAKE YOUR LUMPS!
Ganked?
Let me tell a lil bit about ganked... (seeing as it's happened/and still happens to me)
At 1st it's frustrating of course, your just getting your feet wet, and boom the toon you've learned to overcome all PvE obstacles with, is starring at a "go to hosp" button.
Most PvE'ers egos are fragile, so seeing their "ZOMG I can PWN AV's with No temps or insp" characters laid to waste in 3 seconds, is a bit traumatic.
Eventually getting ganked becomes more of a compliment. Once you've developed enough skill, it's the one of the only ways for a skilled player, to actually be killed/defeated.
And complaining? Sympathy? From PvP'ers? lol
PvP'ers are wolves. Wolves only run with other wolves. They only respect (to a degree) other wolves.
Why do we gank the new guy and not the "wolf" that's always here?
BECAUSE ITS THE ONLY WAY TO FIND OUT IF THIS PERSON IS ANOTHER WOLF!
If it's not a wolf, then it doesn't belong here anyway, and needs to be put out of its misery.
There will be no weakening of the pack! -

With all respect, I'm sorry, you think you're being creative if/when you come up with an underwater zone and call it "Atlantis"? oooh! Way to break the mold.
[/ QUOTE ]
WTF are you talking about? -
[ QUOTE ]
Almost all the threads I've read about wanting an underwater zone use Atlantis as its basis.
[/ QUOTE ]
And why wouldn't someone?
*Thinks of an Underwater City*
Atlantis comes to mind without a thought. It's the model for all underwater cities. Infact, I can't even think of another, though I'm sure they exist. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well is it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah -
I've read through all of this thread... and I got cold chill up my spine, as I read through the anguish and dissapointment felt by some of the replies in this thread.
They gave you a power that works "just fine", then suddendly, and without any notice, you find out "just fine" is "OP". Of course, it was all a mistake, and was never "intended". (I'm really starting to dislike this word)
It's like offering someone a seat on cushy chair. A chair that you really really wanted them to try out, they fall asleep in the chair, then you jarringly wake them up, and tell them they have to sit on the wooden stool. Just because you didn't intend for them to fall asleep.
"Dude I was just getting a nap in WTF!"
With that said I don't feel bad for any of you!
Instead, I welcome you all with open arms, into the Kingdom of Nerfdom
Inhabitants: /Regeneration Scrappers, Fire/Fire Tanks, /Devices Blasters, (those i've missed), and now /Storms.
Remember, be strong, and this too shall pass! -
Taking what DM replied into account.
I'd also advise that if your inclination is Melee, the PvP enviroment you'd get more enjoyment out of is the zones, it's usually a good place to start anyway. -

[ QUOTE ]
Would like to focus on burst melee damage with some survivability cooldowns thrown in. What would you suggest playing?
[/ QUOTE ]
The most feared AT in Zone PvP is a Melee AT.
Roll a Stalker.
I'd start with */Ninjitsu. It has very good survival/Cooldown tools. All Stalkers do awesome burst damage thanks to Assassin Strike.
You also have the added in bonus of not having to worry about other Stalkers. (the exception is in lol Warburg)
Now when it comes to organised PvP (Arena), from what I've seen Melee'ers are out.
The exception would be Villian side Arena teaming, which I've *heard* consist of at least 1 Stalker.
Happy hunting! -
Just because all the people against this idea always post.

1) There are no healers in City of..
2) In PvP everyone experience heal decay, so that the 2nd heal from any source has only 75% of its original power, the 3rd, 50%, the fourth and subsequent 25%.
3) Empaths used to be very useful in team pvp, but with Diminishing returns and the mezz changes, most of their buffs are rendered useless.
PvP is all about damage now. Anything you click cause travel and regeneration suppression.
In sum, PvP as it is today has little if any use for "healers", empaths, or other buffer types.
[/ QUOTE ]
You can still be an effective healer on a team (I'm assuming you mean Empathy defender) in the Arena, if you turn off Diminishing Returns. Basically playing the pre I13 format. -

You need SuperStrength on your tank for Zone PVP.
Otherwise you'll never land a single blow on the Legions of VEATS you'll be facing from the Villain Side.

Why?
