Healers in PvP
1) There are no healers in City of..
2) In PvP everyone experience heal decay, so that the 2nd heal from any source has only 75% of its original power, the 3rd, 50%, the fourth and subsequent 25%.
3) Empaths used to be very useful in team pvp, but with Diminishing returns and the mezz changes, most of their buffs are rendered useless.
PvP is all about damage now. Anything you click cause travel and regeneration suppression.
In sum, PvP as it is today has little if any use for "healers", empaths, or other buffer types.

You can still be an effective healer on a team (I'm assuming you mean Empathy defender) in the Arena, if you turn off Diminishing Returns. Basically playing the pre I13 format.
That format is pretty bad. From what I understand, you can't turn off all the I13 crap, so you're left with some I12 and some I13, and it's just totally [censored] up, as far as balance goes. Even more than just regular I13 lol.
As far as pure I13 goes, emps/therms/PD are mostly only good for fortitude and forge and whatever the PD power is. Those make a big difference still. The tohit is great for those without their own +tohit powers, the defense is great for defense based toons....but mainly it's for the +damage. Like mentioned above, damage is really all that matters.
The problem is that it's not very rewarding to play a pure team toon whose only use to a team is essentially one power. I'm exaggerating a bit, but not much.

No, this is pretty much dead on.
I've tried to play my Thermal Corr once since issue 13 dropped and it was horrible. I used to be able to buff and heal an entire team and still evade incoming attacks. Now it's virtually impossible to do it all without getting farmed. It got to the point where I would rush in, buff up one guy and run like hell hoping phase was active before the incoming damage killed me.
What a waste.
Some mmos healers cannot be killed but have trouble finding the dps to kill a pvp target. In other mmos healers need a group to get anywhere in pvp.
What is CoH's like for healers in pvp? Are they great soloers in pvp or do they need groups?
