Has anyone mentioned the mission in live where for a brief time everyone was turned into Statesman look-alikes? It persisted even when you exited the mission.
I'll see if I still have a screenshot of that... -
I'm in for whatever I can do...including funding when you are ready.

I am not really a comic book person.
I am really not an MMO person.
Thanks for making a comic book MMO that I played for seven years, and continue to hold out a thread of hope for more. -
Used 34EG-QSSD-PVTY-9E8X-7ZQX from first post - keep trying

Quote:Welcome Back A_C...Awesome! I've two years left. Finally finished with "the basics", and from what I understand, it's smooth sailing from here on out. All the weed-out courses are finished, and now us poor engineering students get to rebuild our GPA in time for grad school.
Still not sure if I want to do that, btw, but it's an option.
Well if it is like my engineering degree, there is still plenty of tough classes, but they tend to be in areas that interest you.
Keep up the work and study study study!

This is the exact question I have on my Warshade - the slot is open but what to build?
How can you tell if your WS is bumping up against the damage cap?
Concept-wise, I like Melee, as I am getting my bonuses by feeding off my nearest opponents. With Eclipse, I'm usually capped with resistance, so the Defense branch looks cool and not getting hit at all appeals to Warshades. I usually have pretty good survivability due to perma-Eclipse and Clarion, but things go badly if there is a -Res component to the attack. I also love the taunt as I need more bodies near me! Defense and +DMG I can get from purples or reds, but I can't get taunt anywhere else without spending a power. (Well other than using Orbiting Death.)
On the other hand, Assault sounds great too - a Warshade with more damage is surely a good thing, and that is my weaker spot right now. I can easily handle +2 x8, but much higher in level and enough survive my initial attack chain that things get dicey. +3x8 is fun but I have to be on the ball. +4x8 is a recipe for occasional face-plants. If I defeat them faster, I can see that going better.
Hmm, I think I will hit the beta server and try out both...decisions, decisions! -
Quote:I just added to ParagonWiki my big non-beta suggestion that got implemented...that all auras having a combat-activated option. I also still have the PMs from Noble Savage to prove it was my suggestion that was implemented to any Doubting Thomases...I strongly suggest that you add them... or PM me what they were then so they can be included!
...and it is still SO COOL - I use combat-activated auras on almost all of my characters! -
I confirm the problem - mapserving on the big battle. Not sure about cause though. I'll try single-target attacks.
-
I know I noticed and posted a lot of detail about it during that beta (which shields, stances, gender/size, etc.), but I don't have access to those boards anymore. And since StJ is not my thing, I never followed up on it.

Quote:SoulTouch, I am not really getting a universal feeling that this is bad, as with some other changes we can both probably name. In fact, I think most are generally supportive or neutral.Wow what a surprise, another stupid change going ahead by the devs despite OBVIOUS protests from the people keeping this game going. Please keep these changes away from PvP at least, one of my main toons is a fire/mm blaster who has 7 procs across 3 of my main attacks and the reason WHY IT WORKS in PvP is because of that.
Dumb game is game
dumb people are dumb
dumb.
Have you done the math to see how your PvP attack chain/dps is affected at Synapse's current thoughts on floor and the 5% failure rate? (I am assuming you are leveraging the 100% chance in damage procs.)
Also, I'd love to see that build - it sounds fun, though I don't PvP. -
Warshades can use it too in human and dwarf form, though they don't likely need the +End proc. I prefer Touch of the Nictus anyway, for obvious reasons.

This thread makes me laugh, and not in an evil-rule-the-world sort of way either. I am learning new memes by the moment....
Congrats to both! -
I haven't found a resource on editing the .costume files for interesting effects. Anyone know of one?
I am trying to see if there is a way to get the small "Over" symbols you can get on Jackets to show up on one of the "Tight" options.
Thanks in advance for whatever you know! -
The Freedom Phalanx is so humano-centric, AND they have all the hero archetypes represented EXCEPT kheldians.
Why, lookie here! My avatar/main just happens to be an alien warshade. Imagine that... -
Quote:Oh piffle, you know someone would then complain:
I'm seriously curious here, because if the pattern in that first image were sharpened up but otherwise left the same, I see no reason to keep the original around.
"Oh no!!! My character 8-bit Boy relied on that jaggie edge design!!!"
-
I don't see it mentioned, but...
Better capes.
- Add textures (like cloth) as an option to existing basic types so I can match my CoT hood or my High Collar shoulders
- Normal maps for better-looking ripples (not sure if possible)
- Wider across the shoulder capes (like High Collar but without the, erm, high collar)
- Longer capes - down to the ground (or dragging?)
- Additional interesting patterns and shape/outlines
-
Even asymmetrical textures could incur a penalty. If you look at a lot of the textures, you can see that they are really a mirror image left to right. Not sure how they are stored, but if the current system stores half the texture and just duplicates it over to the other side, making it even accept non-symmetrical textures would be a big job, as well as doubling that part of the costume size.
My demon MM has always in my head had an asymmetrical texture costume - can't get there yet in the costume creator! -
This hit me - the two toons I checked had blank auction house inventory.
Weird thing is...it seems to have fixed itself - both of those toons now have their original stuff back after I played for a bit.
Maybe they are not "erased" just not displaying? -

My Warshade completed the Vanguard missions many moons ago, but last night when I logged into her, I was not getting Vanguard merits, so I went over to Levantera and all the missions were marked as new.
This happened during beta as well - not sure if it is an issue just with my Warshade - will check later. -
I am somewhat with you on that part, opprime, but since they are giving away 400 points free every month, I think what they are searching for is a price that VIPs are willing to pay in order to get it NAO that is beyond what those same people already have banked. Problem is, I think many of the prices are way too much to entice the casual free/premium user to plonk down some cash.
It would be very interesting to get my hands on the market data. I teach applied stats and do experimental design and statistical analyses for businesses. It would be fun to do some studies to find out the drivers in this market. Well, my idea of fun anyway...
What I do object to is people saying they are paying more or getting less for what they pay when it is easy to show that is not true. -
Quote:opprime, see that is the "freedom" part of Freedom - you are using it as intended! As I said though, Im not at all anti f2p, and I love this game. Im just finding that, at least at the present, it looks like I'll now be spending less on it to get the things I really care about , and I don't think that was NCsoft's intentions. I'll actually be saving anywhere from 30-80 dollars a year per account, depending on how I buy my points and how fast they come out with new content. Actually I'll be saving slightly more than that since I used to buy the occassional booster pack or character slot before, which I can now get with some of my 1300 pts a month.
If, for you, going Premium makes sense, then do it! NCSoft continues to make money from you for the long term when you might have quit the game at some point since you may have begun to not feel good paying for incarnate content or SSA or whatever that you don't care to use. And by keeping you in touch with the game, maybe at some point your re-sub, when otherwise, you might have moved on to different games and never known the cool thing that brought you back.
For me, I continue paying my sub, continue to enjoy the VIP perks, and get back $5 in points to buy more stuff. If I am patient, I never have to pay the $15 for a booster pack again, but I get the stuff anyway. For me it is a win to stay VIP. It was a win to pay my sub before this too, but now I get more stuff for the same price I was paying previously.
And for free players, they get to come in and play in our world, join my team, help level me up, and maybe stick around and make PS more money for more stuff as Premium/VIPs.
I admit I was skeptical of F2P when I first learned of it, but I am happy at how it is playing out. As long as we don't see a new OP powerset that is for-pay, or rare or very rare enhancements in the store, I am golden. (Or is that "goldenrod?")
Perhaps in some cases, maybe yours, PS makes a little less money since you are happy with Premium and don't pay for VIP. Maybe, in the face of all evidence, Capt C unsubs because he thinks he is paying more even though those monthly debits are exactly the same, and PS loses there. But on the whole, I think it is a rational business model that players can be happy with. -
Quote:You have had to pay for power sets before:What angers me... and I am angry... is that Pre-Freedom powers like Beam Rifle, and Street Justice were included with our free updates that came along our subscription. Packs were fluff, not substance. They were never power sets.
Electric Control
Demon Summoning
Dual Pistols
Kinetic Melee
To access all villain powers sets and archetypes you had to buy CoV, at least until they merged.
And even "bought" new powers are now free if you wait until you accumulate free VIP Paragon Points, where before you may have had to wait for a big issue and maybe pay for them with real money
The point is, if they "charge" (you can still eventually get them for free with your subscription) for them, there will be more of them to choose from. Maybe without Freedom there would have been no Time Manipulation (free) power proliferation (free) or beam rifle or street justice or titan weapon or staff fighting, or at least not all of them. Requiring PPs just means that there is more incentive to make more powers.
What I think your argument reduces to is, "they are adding cool stuff and I want it now - since I am not willing to wait until I can get it for free from my monthly bonus points, if I want it now I need to pay for it. The rate at which they are adding cool stuff is too fast to get everything for free!" Didn't people spend years complaining about the slow pace of new powers/costumes/etc? Now we are complaining that they are too fast?
Either practice patience (and PP budgeting) and get it for free, or decide that it is worth spending more money on and get it now. So far, I myself am the former - I don't see anything that I can't wait for until I get it for free. I could easily afford to pay a chunk o' cash so that I could get everything NAO but I am frugal by nature, and patient by practice.
If you go Premium, I suspect your frustration will only mount, as you then have to start paying for access to a LOT more cool stuff that you now take for granted as part of your subscription.
