So, after three years, I've decided to resub full time. What are some things I should check out? Despite popping in occasionally, I never really kept up with things... Any help would be very appreciated.

Doom.

Yep.

This is really doom.

well, if you have a 50, dark astoria is a nice bit of writing that makes your character look like a hardcore butt kicker , has badges for doing things the hard way, and awards solo/small team progression for incarnate stuff.

tips..i love tips, the general content tends to make you blandly good/evil, these allow you to do much better ad more acutally heroic/villianous things.

since you are subbed, try the ssa's, hero merits halp get some of the rarer ios, and the stories let you take on some of the ehavy hitters in lore that the game proper tends to keep as background stuff. ssa1 i enjoyed the heck out of, though some times you will see plot points well before your character catches on, and 2...i have not had time to play, but buzz is good in the threads i have waded into without reading heavily enough for spoilers.

check the outfits too, there is some crazy stuff out there on the market. some of the new powersets are interestign too, i like beam rifle, street justice and nature affinity and water blast, but check all of them and see if they grab you.

They've made a few tweaks to the original Praetorian content - there's a bit more of it now than just the Maria Jenkins and Tina Macintyre arcs.

The Praetoria storylines are nicely done. They have little patience for low end machines though. Praetoria is also mostly deserted, and you are locked there until 20. But, it's a neat little game there all the same.

The Incarnate trials and Incarnate Powers are a very nice addition to the game. Explore, Enhance, Enjoy.

Positron TF got a revamp, and the Sister Psyche TF was relaced by the Penny Yin TF. Both good moves.

If you like the I/O game there are some neat changes. On the spendy end you can now buy tuned I/Os from the paragon market in microtransactions (they do add up lol) My main is mostly kitted out in these for ease of Exemplaring. While painful to do (because of storage problems) I find them wonderful for leveling concept builds as well, so I can get a feel for the build much earlier than 40 or 50.

The DFB is hard to miss, the new sanctioned powerleveling for new characters. Also drops SOs and temp powers.

Actually, there is a lot more stuff, but those are some of my favorites. Glad to have you back, enjoy.

What are SSA's, DFB's, I/O's (invention origins?), and where can I find the new Praetorian content GG mentioned?

Hey, what happened to all the red names, anyway? I don't recognize any of 'em.

Thanks for the welcome back(s)! I feel so old and frail and get the heck off my lawn!

SSA = Signature Story Arc (sweet rewards if you like them)

DFB = Death From Below (Low level TF, just go to atlas park and say LF DFB)

I/Os = Invention Origins

Any character any level can get to Praetoria through Pocket D. There is a Martini Glass looking door icon in the main dancing area tucked behind the big sloping ramps. Creating a character there requires going rogue I think, mebbe not for VIP. I've always been VIP and bought all expansions, so unclear on where the red ropes are.

In addition to everything everyone else mentioned, I recall your being interested in stalkers in the past. That archetype just recently got a number of performance boosts that you may want to check out.

Significant content updates since August 2009 include:

-Three "basic" Praetorian zones- a new 1-20 game. Praetoria has been reworked into an alternate world where all the superhumans either work for a utopian-yet-totalitarian government or join a movement to overthrow it.

-First Ward and Night Ward- a continuation of the Praetorian zones but open to non-Praetorian characters.

- Atlas Park and Mercy Island- Starting content up to level 10 has been completely revamped (and Galaxy City destroyed). Atlas Park also received a complete makeover, while only the missions and spawns in Mercy changed.

- Incarnate system- an endgame system for making level 50 characters more powerful. The mechanics are too complex to include here; see Paragonwiki or other threads on the subject. Most of the story content for the system consists of multi-team Trials that continue the story from the lower level Praetorian content.

- Dark Astoria revamped. Dark Astoria is now a co-op, incarnate-level zone where characters try to prevent the rise of a Banished Pantheon god-thing. Particularly excellent stories, in my opinion.

- Alignment system. Change from hero (sympathetic crimefighter) to vigilante (unsympathetic crimefighter) to villain (unsympathetic criminal) to rogue (sympathetic criminal) by doing Tips, a type of mission that you receive by defeating enemies once you and they are both 20 or over. The system also includes additional benefits for not changing your alignment, if you go that route.

- Many new powersets, some free to subscribers, other that must be purchased: Beam Rifle, Street Justice, Beast Mastery, Staff Fighting, Dark Control, Dark Blast for blasters, Water Blast, Time Manipulation, Nature Affinity (new this week), and more ...

- Many new costume sets. Go back through the "post your best costume designs" thread for examples of the new pieces in action.

- Lots of new story arcs and Task Forces throughout the game. Find new contacts who give out those arcs with the handy "Find Contact" button.

- "Signature" story arcs that take place as a series of "episodes" over a few months and may impact the game's overall story. The first arc dealt with the deaths of several signature characters; the second is in progress now.

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. As always, consult paragonwiki and specific subforums for more information on things specifically of interest to you. Welcome back.

SSA = Signature Story Arc. There are currently 2 - the first is a 7-parter called "Who Will Die?", and the second is a 5-parter (in progress, 1-3 are live, 4 and 5 are on beta) called "Pandora's Box." These are a cross between story arcs and task forces, in that it's a series of arcs strung together to tell a larger story.

DFB = Death From Below. The new sewer intro 'trial'. Great fun, and a fast way to level.

IOs (I think you mean ATO or ATI depending on who you ask) = Archetype Origin enhancement sets. Each archetype has one (including Kheldians and Soldiers of Arachnos), and a second round is coming Soon (tm).

Praetorian content = there are several Incarnate level trials (the first done once you reach level 50), including the Behavioral Adjustment Facility, the Lambda, the Keyes Reactor, the Underground, the Minds of Mayhem, the TPN (The Praetorian Network), the Dilemma Diabolique, and the Magisterium. There is also now First Ward and Nightward in Praetoria itself, zones that extend its level range up to... 39, I think it is now?

If you swing by my YouTube channel, I did trailers for several of the most recent issues, which might help bring you up to speed.

Well, I didn't want to give him the impression that the devs might have added the largest every storyline to the game so far, with content covering all levels, and using normal story arcs, single player morality missions, personal story missions, Task Forces, Incarnate arcs and Incarnate Trials to tell an epic story of an inter-dimensional war, the liberation of an entire population from the grip of a fascist dictatorship planning to conquer the multiverse and the destruciton of a whole world.

You make it sound like that's different than any ordinary day in Paragon City. ;-)

Arbiter Warrant is the guitar-playing, FILK-writing dev.

And Synapse is the powers guy (or one of them, anyway). I don't know if there's still that Google doc floating around with a spreadsheet of the devs and who does what.

Awesome! I've two years left. Finally finished with "the basics", and from what I understand, it's smooth sailing from here on out. All the weed-out courses are finished, and now us poor engineering students get to rebuild our GPA in time for grad school.

Still not sure if I want to do that, btw, but it's an option.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Some have also shifted over to the unnamed project that Paragon Studios is working on.
