  1. Many great ideas HAVE seen publication, and many more will, but there are obvious resource limitations (time, money, people). Unless I'm very much mistaken, there aren't any games (or anything else) out there that have everything that everyone wants. And by this metric, if I come up with a great new idea right this second, the fact that it's not in the game constitutes a major failing, which is ridiculous.

    Is CoH missing something specific that's ruining your fun, or was this just a casual observation?
  2. There's no option for a Captive to go anywhere, just choices as to which animation they do after being freed. If you want someone to run off after rescue, they need to be an Ally (or an Escort, but you'd need to lead them to their objective first).
  3. Captives don't run for the exit, but you can do this with an Ally...set their freed behavior to Runs to Nearest Door.

    In one of my arcs, player heroes working with the PPD get word that villains have overrun a nearby office searching for a particular person. I could have made a captive rescue the mission complete criteria, but would heroes (and the police) simply arrest one group or room full of bad guys and leave the office workers to deal with the rest?

Be judicious with the use of Defeat Alls...as you've seen from the posts in this thread, some people will go with it if the story justifies it, but others will arbitrarily vote it down and/or quit. One of my arcs contains a (story-justified, in my opinion) Defeat All, and a lot of the negative feedback I've received was about that specifically.

    Pssst...CoH IS the Nemesis TF. It spans 50 levels and every archetype.
  7. Practiced Brawler is the best mez protection in the game, and there is no good reason to skip it.

  9. I turn XP off to:

  11. You could ask for the PPD hardsuit code as a prize for participating in various events at HeroCon last year...you might want to attend this year, if your circumstances allow it.
  12. Huh...probably a change that I didn't notice. I know it used to be the way I described, because I experimented with it to determine name length rules, but that was Back in the Day before they increased the character limit.

    Every time you enter a mission, you're in an instance, just you and your team (if any).
  14. No, it's not a demo, it's a video. Which could be easily made from a demo. Seeing isn't necessarily believing when to comes to game play footage, which is what makes machinima possible.

    Couple Questions

    You can now have more than one character build (so you can build differently for PvE and PvP, for example, or for soloing vs. teaming), and selecting the active build allows you to switch between them.

    Not saying you did, of course, but I've done a lot of jumping-around-lining-up-melee-cones and I've never seen anything as extreme as that. Maybe I'll try to reproduce the technique you describe.
  17. If you select the "The" from the dropdown, "The" will appear over the name of your character as a title, but not in NPC dialog. If you want the NPCs to use the "The", it has to be part of the actual name and count against the name length character limit (foregoing the dropdown).
  18. With one IO you will get knocked down fairly infrequently in PvE. Some mobs are more knockback-happy (Nemesis comes to mind), but one will keep you on your feet against shotguns and Council grenades. Think about slotting more if a) you PvP, b) you cannot stand being knocked back, or c) you are a melee toon who may often be at the epicenter of a large number of simultaneous attacks (one grenade won't knock you, but five at once will).

  20. Just for fun, let's agree to origin-based constraints on power sets, emotes, and animations...but only if the entire "origin should do more" camp can agree on who should do what, and how.

    What's that? No consensus? Guess we should leave things alone, then.

  22. Rightly so, in my opinion...every Origin-specific suggestion I've seen didn't survive first contact with people's character concepts.
