Info Question
Every time you enter a mission, you're in an instance, just you and your team (if any).
Arc 55669 - Tales of the PPD: One Hell of a Deal (video trailer)
Arc 64511 - The Wrecking Ball
Arc 1745 - The Trouble With Trimbles
Arc 302901 - HappyCorpse
My recommendation is to hook up with the Paragonwiki, read the info there, and *forget what you know about MMOs*. This one isn't quite like WoW.

Welcome! As Zek said, ParagonWiki is your friend! It answers a lot of basic questions.
But then, so do we, here on the forums.
Once again, welcome to City Of...! The game that will make you go, "Wow! That was fun!"

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:
I'm going to mention another common WoW-vet misconception.
You don't need a "perfect team" and there isn't one way to do things. You _can_ succeed using tanking, healing, and straight damage. It's not exactly the most efficient way. You could build a team out of the first four people you find with their "looking for team" flags on and probably do just as well or better. (The most powerful teams in the game are either all-defender or all-controller. They're also a LOT more powerful than the game actually requires.)
Mini-guides: Force Field Defenders, Blasters, Market Self-Defense, Frankenslotting.
So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.

99% of the game is played in instances. There are some zone wide events, but they aren't the focus of the game.
Don't be in a rush to reach level 50 (the level cap). The game begins at level 1. The game is the experience of level 1 to level 50. And then doing it again with a different Archetype or different power set combo. The game does lend it to altistis (makeing lots of character)
ah i see, ty, i currently have a stalker in a jester outfit but also one more question, i see ppl walking around with capes and wings at like lvl 2 and 4 and [censored]...and someone said they downloaded??? something called viakyle or something like that i could b off on spelling....but u get the jist of the question
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Mac_Special_Edition
The Mac Special Edition comes with a costume set called "Valkyrie", which includes wings and a cape. You can either get the Mac edition (which comes with a free month) for $20, or you can get its associated goodie pack for $10, which only includes the in-game stuff (no free month).
(PS; YES!! You CAN use the Mac Special Edition if you have a non-Mac! it's just a box code, it's not a restricted use thing)

[/ QUOTE ]Uhhh. Teleport is a travel power that can be accessed at level 14 by any character, as long as they have one of the first two powers in the teleport power pool.

http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Travel_Powers
All the 60mo veteran reward is, is that those folks can choose teleport without having to choose one of the first two pools in the teleport pool, effectively saving them a power choice if they want to.

[/ QUOTE ]It doesn't really cost that much infamy/influence. Gold is a LOT more scarce in WoW than infamy/influence is in City. It's very easy to make infamy/influence.

What they're talking about is one of the benefits of the 60 month (5 year) vet badge. Normally in order to use the power Teleport you have to take either Recall Friend or TP Foe first. When you get to 60 months you don't have to take the first power anymore, you can just jump straight to Teleport. All of the travel powers work like that, not just teleport.
That would be costume piece recipes. They can drop off of anything in the game after level 10, as long as it is at least green to you. The way that works is: If you get a recipe and have the salvage you need to craft it, the character that crafted it gets access to that particular set of wings or boots at the tailor. And they actually aren't that expensive anymore, comparatively speaking.
Also important to note - Wings do NOT automatically grant you the ability to fly, they are just costume pieces. If you have the power Fly they animate when you use it, but that is all.
Edit: spelling

Yeah. Most of the wings in the game are craftable recipes, like that. There are two Veteran Reward wings and the Valkyrie (Mac Pack) wings, but the rest need to be crafted.
The recipes are normal drops. You can of course buy 'em off the player market if you want 'em. Honestly, they're really not that expensive anymore, and the crafting cost itself is very low.
The price for the more popular wings might seem high if you're still low-level, but trust me - it ain't a lot in the long run. Money is easy to get in this game.

Ammune,
the 60 month veteran reward lets you get movement
powers sooner (at level 6 instead of level 14). You
can still get teleport (or fly, superspeed, superjump),
just pick one of the first two powers from the movement
pool at level 6 (or higher), then you can pick the movement
power from the same pool at level 14 (or higher).

i see, wat if i want tele and fly? is that possiable or i just have to pick one?
You can have fly and teleport.
And superspeed and superjump if you want.
At level 5-10, you can scoop a jetpack, which gives 2hrs of flight, by doing a Safeguard mission (heroes) or a Mayhem mission (villains). Paragonwiki will give more details.
At levels 10-15, by doing either a Safeguard or Mayhem mission, you can get 2hrs of superjumping.
www.paragonwiki.com is a great source of information for this game.

awesome that fun lol, can someone give me a link to a class guide? like best solo class, most played class, highest dmg etc....
All archetypes and pretty much every powerset in the game *can* solo. It depends on what you want to DO while soloing - take it slow, or just show off to yourself, or set goals. This game is remarkably flexible in that every single AT (archetype) is useful both on and off teams. The choices of powers does affect how quickly soloing OR teaming goes, and within those choices, how you slot your enhancements makes every single character *extremely* different from one another.
You can have two fire tankers with exactly the same power choices, but the way that they're slotted might mean one has a lot of damage and recharges quickly, while another concentrates on heavy defense and chugging through things.
The power pools mean that even if you've got the same powers as another character, your *extra* powers mean you get around the city in different ways or improve your fighting skills, you can enhance your team mates with invisibility, buffs or healing.
You've got a minimum of 132 chances to play things, it's entirely up to you how you play

Check these forums for the sections for each "class" (we usually call 'erm ATs round these parts, but that aint no big sin), "Tanker", "Stalker", etc. At the top of each forum are threads with player guides you can check out; be warned some are not exactly as complete as they could be, some are very biased towards certain issues that others might not be, and most of them are rather old and may be out of date since some powers have been updated, changed, nerfed, etc. People don't tend to write them as much these days, which is a story I'll save you from.
The best news is that once you understand more or less what a basic build needs, you can fake your way through most ATs - er, "classes". There is very seldomly an actual "bad build", almost any build is playable. Just be sure to pay attention to the forum for your chosen class and you'll find all sorts of good info dropped here and there.
And welcome to the game.
awesome, u guys are bing very helpful last question....maybe lol...lets say i live in US but want to play on Europe servers?(if there are any)
There are European servers. However, they require a completely separate game account, and a completely separate installation of the game, as there is localization stuff that they do that we don't (for language assistance; they have a French and a German server in addition to two English servers; ours are all English).

First of all, welcome into the light.
1} The vast majority of your game will likely take place in "missions", indoor maps that the game automatically creates and isolates for you and your team.
2} Capes and wings; some wings are crafted {see Inventions}, some wings are Veteran Rewards {special perks you get for having played for X months} and some are booster pack goodies. Keep in mind that costumes are completely separate from actual powers, and are purely cosmetic - having wings doesn't let fly, and you can fly without wings. You can get regular capes through a mission that's available once you've reached Lv20, mini-capes are a veteran reward and I think the Magician booster pack gives you one as well.
3} Teleport: You can pick the Recall Friend {teleports a teammate to yourself} power at Lv6 and Teleport {teleport self within line-of-sight} at Lv14. The vet reward you're referring to is the "Assemble the Team power", which basically works as a Recall on your whole team simultaneously.
4} If you've got cashflow problems, you can auction off salvage you get from defeating enemies - that should give you an extra source of income as you gain levels. Odds are, however, that you'll quickly have influence coming out of your ears.
5} You can pick multiple travel powers if you want, but you won't see much benefit in running them simultaneously. Still, if you want to, say, take Teleport for quickly moving across the map and Fly for the awesome factor and the freedom of movement, go to town.
6} I'd suggest checking the individual archetype {AT's for short, the equivalent of WoW's "classes"} forums for advice, strengths and weaknesses and so forth of each archetype. On the whole, Scrappers are generally considered best soloers, best-played... hard to tell, it's a pretty even spread, and for damage, either Scrappers for quick single-target killing or Blasters for more en masse murderizing. Keep in mind, though, that even the powersets available for each archetype vary widely.
On the whole, I'd suggest simply rolling a character and seeing how their playstyle suits you. You have twelve character slots on each server, so I doubt you'll run out of character space anytime soon.
i see, so is there a server info type on this forums? or Europe site>
