Its considered as a title, not actually part of the name. It will display above the Character Name according to whether you enable or disable the display of titles.

Yeah it is just part of the title like my toon The Savage Garden instead of just Savage Garden. Some names sound a little better with the before them is all, player's preference.
If you select the "The" from the dropdown, "The" will appear over the name of your character as a title, but not in NPC dialog. If you want the NPCs to use the "The", it has to be part of the actual name and count against the name length character limit (foregoing the dropdown).

I've tired useing the 'the' as part of the actual name before, and as soon as I typed it out, it instantly took it out and selected the 'the' from the dropdown to the left.
I have never been able to get it as part of the actual name before.
Because it isn't possible. Unless you use "Th3" or "Teh" or some other strange permutation that is.

I think what xyzyx meant was he typed it all as one word like, therockofages, so the game wouldn't really notice the 'the'.
I know you can use the in the middle of a name like one a friend of mine who has the name "Eric the Rain"
this probably has nothing to do with the topic I do a poor job of paying attention to any conversation but still want to interject my opinion....

[/ QUOTE ] This can work, as long as there is no space after the "the". Even if you try tricking the system by selecting "The" from the drop-down first, it will still disappear as soon as you type the space after "the" again.
As for the character limit... it's currently 20 (not including the "the" title).
I recall reading that there was some trick to getting "The" at the beginning of the actual name. Don't remember what it is, though.

[/ QUOTE ] Like we said.. it can't happen unless you don't put a space after it. Even if you type the name first and try to edit in the "The" or the space afterward, it will still disappear. Even if you try typing "the" twice, they will both disappear.
If there is a trick, I haven't seen it, nor gotten one to work.
Anyone use this? How is it displayed or change the mouse over on the name, if at all?
