I'd love to see it all sleek and smooth. Like Iceman's in the X-men movies.

IMO, bases served exactly one purpose when they first came out: Entice CoH players to buy the new CoV.
Since then the only additions/improvements to base items or construction have been to support other additions to the game. Don't think the changes were all good, either. We lost unlimited salvage storage because they didn't want us to horde invention salvage (when it was only base and empowerment they didn't care how much we stored). They removed pathing because it broke more things than it preserved (base raids). So, in order to remove pathing requirements they removed the bounding boxes for base items. Interestingly this caused us to lose one of my favorite tricks in base building: Double doors.
How cool were they? Why do we need "doorways" anyway?
Grrr, there I go again. Stopping short.

Quote:Re-read the OP. The perceived wasted 90 minutes was the time it took to run the TF just to be booted before completion. You say it was a wasted 90 minutes, but I can't believe that the harassment was like that the whole time. If it was, then why in world did you subject your child to that. If you disagree with how a team leader treats you or your child on her team, then quit the team. ITF's form often enough to jump on another team or you can easily form your own.
My daughter has asked to play the game with me, but being that the game is Rated Teen for a reason (usually language and adult content from other players i nthis game), we end up playing something more age appropriate that we both can enjoy.
I am sorry this 16 year old girl upset you to the point where you want to quit the game. Bt perhaps it is for the best that you leave it if you find it harmful to your child (similar to turning off bad TV that your child is watching if it goes against your teachings). -

Ambivalent on this for many of the reasons already mentioned.
However...
What I would like to see at beginning levels is more story about why we will be acting the way we do, as Heroes (Villains don't need as much rationalizing) as well as why we are ALLOWED to act as we do. I've always felt that as soon as we hit Atlas Park or Galaxy City we go about hacking/burning/shooting/freezing people (unto unconsciousness) without much reasoning behind it. Granted, enemies near your level will attack you if you enter their aggro range but we always see them first and usually SHOOT first, even if they are just "walking along the shore of the lake" (not doing anything illegal-seeming).
I KNOW that its a game and we have to suspend disbelief sometimes, but I'd like more information about being a hero at low levels. -
Quote:And yet, Guido is the name of an NPC, redside...I wanted to give several of my thugs on a MM Italian names. I am of Sicilian descent and thought it was cool. Vinny and Tony were okay but I was not allowed to use Guido. It surprised me for a moment, but of course I get it. Guido, before it became an insult, was one of the more common Italian names. In Italy it still is. I have two uncles named Guido.
While I understand the reasoning I still think it sucks. -
Quote:Life support may be hooked up but it is WE who pay for the hospital room/services.If you were a dev and said that, I would then believe that our comatose patient has hope to one day make a recovery. That being said, your not a dev. And life support is still hooked up to our patient. And were left still hoping for someone to come in and check on it.

I'm just glad that for some reason I don't FAIL it like I used to.

Freedom "tends" to be like this in general. I once had an alt kicked from a coalition group for 5 days inactivity when my main was active and in good standing in the #4 group on the server.
"This isn't Champion or Guardian. This is Freedom and we do things differently here." -
Quote:THIS is what happened to me. A matter of hours before my Brute got to full Hero I started the arc. Did Future Memory and talked to States. When my public notoriety (whatever) started dropping off I made the push for my last 5 tips and Morality mission.Another possibilty - You hadn't started the arc redside had you - or even completed it?
Went back to Oro and now I have the Trapdoor mission, Ramiel says he's working on it, and the crystal won't let me in.
"Escalated" Customer "Service" says that the only way for me to continue is to go back to Villain, finish the arc, then come BACK to hero. 8 days of wasted time. They say they have no ability to affect this in any way. What they mean is that they want me to waste 8 days.
I admit that if I had THOUGHT about it I MIGHT have reasoned that something like this might have happened, but the game gave me NO indication that I was doing something incredibly stupid (maybe the generic dialogue where you accept the alignment change...). Would be nice if the game would check for those kinds of conflicts and give a more "useful" prompt. Kinda like the pervasive griping it does when you try to delete salvage that you can use. So annoying that it won't stay turned off, so (almost) meaningless, but it DOES make you look at it once more and confirm the action. :/ -
One possible way to go. (what I'm currently using)

Quote:ALMOST had me going for a page or two. (Could ELM/FA REALLY be that good? *doubts*)So are you.. sorry what suppresion period? Also again you forgot the alpha slot.. there are no diminishing returns there. Yes I always have an attack up
Your math is cool but in it you forget that it never plays as well as your math says because they are just numbers.. and you can make your numbers say whatever you want but they do not apply to what its like to play. It's as you say "completely unrealistic"
I think that about sums up your math to(LOL @triple stacked rage.. ya you embellish). So I should assume that your build has FS at about 8 seconds or is it 9? Would that change your math?
Also double stacked rage is not RAGE x2.. I belive its about 33% more.. something about diminishing returns or something.
I never said my build was Bestest as you say, I am saying ss/fire is not as good as you make it out to be.
But this just confirmed for me that you really don't know as much about it as you think you do.
Yes, there is suppression when it is attempted before the first application wears off.
Yes, Alpha is basically built INTO the idea of diminishing because it acts upon power slotting, not global bonuses. Power slotting is subject to ED and so is most of Alpha.
Yes, triple-stacked Rage has diminishing returns. Sitting at double is the way to go.
No, Rage stacks add. As in 80% + 80% +80%. Ever use "real numbers" (in game)? Try Powers, Combat Attributes. Very interesting stuff. -
Quote:This is absolutely correct, and what I meant (did it seem otherwise?). My response was based on the OP's original and repeated statement that he wishes it to be separate. No his idea isn't something seperate from base building. They are both the exact same thing with the exception that one would be a personal base while the other allows other players to join and use it.
Though now that you mention it "your" (Impish Kat's, actually) stickied Consolidated List thread is full of great bug and functionality reports, as well as wishlists for the current base system but has not a peep about personal bases.
From what I can tell, any past requests for personal bases have already been purged. Even if they weren't I'd wish the casual poster good luck finding any meaningful conversation on the topic. The best they've ever gotten in the past is "Form your own SG and don't invite anyone but your alts." -
Ran a 6-man SD/FM Tank ITF sometime back. Literal cake-WALK from beginning up to Rommie... Forgot about the auto-hit attack... (
-
Quote:AgreeForbin's point is that from a development point of view it would not be a separate feature (baring a rash of head injuries amongst the development team).
One of the most basic concepts in any sort of coding is that you don't unnecessarily reinvent the wheel. From a coding point of view both "personal bases" and "SG bases" aren't really any different. Both are going to be based around the idea of having a floorplan and placing objects within that plan. The only differences are the actual art resources used in the two (and even then a lot of the cosmetic ones are likely to be the same for both) and the way players interact with them.
If the devs do ever decide to implement personal bases I would expect them to use the same interface and such for both personal bases and SG bases. They might opt to scrap a lot of the existing SG base code (due to the apparent problems with that code) rather than reusing it as is but there is no reason to make new code for personal bases and not apply it to SG bases. -
Quote:So, if a thread is stickied no mention of the topic is allowed anywhere else on the forums? Whew! Glad the Devs made you their thread enforcer so we could get THAT cleared up.Doesn't change the fact that the devs have stickied several thread in the base forums for these types of suggestions. And the reason they are stickied there is because that is where the devs working on bases go to see what people want in regards to bases, secret lairs, personal apartments, or whatever other name you want to use to call them.
Quote:He gets what he puts out. He was politely invited to join the discussions on this topic in the base forums and he chose to speak disparaging about them instead. He has no one to blame but himself for the response he has gotten in return.
Quote:
I was hoping for more constructive criticism or suggestions.
Simply that it would need to be something separate from base building. My preference would be that the existing system be fixed. And I DID say MAY be thinking.
Why must everyone automatically jump on "YOU DON'T KNOW MY MIND! STOP TELLING ME WHAT I THINK!!!"? Honestly, I THINK that some people are constantly on the lookout for opportunities to tell someone off. -
Yes, let's just change the emotes/effects for existing powers.
I'd like to add a new version of Teleport which has the character rapidly sink into the ground and reappear a distance away from OUT of the ground. -
Yes.
BTW, this IS the suggestion section and personal lairs, even if you choose to call them personal bases IS a suggestion.
No wonder the OP has a low opinion of the forums.
I do agree that this would be a major undertaking but not for the reasons you may think. IF they were to ever do this they should do it RIGHT which would mean a totally revamped/new building system. Why do it if they'd be using the same crap that is the current Base Building interface/rules?
Now THAT probably belonged in the Base Building section. See the difference? -
This is the way its been for as long as I can remember.
What it SEEMS like you are having trouble with is the idea that players only have a baseline 75% chance to hit. This number is modified by the power's inherent accuracy and enhancements, giving you your total, adjusted tohit percentage.
As has been said, Mid's gives a much modified number for the accuracy of each power. Something as simple as (been offered already) making sure that Rage was not selected or even a Chance for Buildup proc are only a couple of reasons that you may have at one time or another seen 120% for Knockout Blow's accuracy, etc.
My advice is to not rely on memory. Duplicate your experience and then determine what is different. -
Quote:A virtually dead SG with resources to indulge whatever base-building whim strikes you is meaningless in terms of loyalty. You are a landlord (for free) but where do you spend your TIME and with whom? Not that I care. Really, I don't. I was just replying to your disparagement of my choice in where and with whom I spend MY time.Yeah I am totally disloyal and untrustworthy.
That's why when I inherited this SG I kicked all the members and took everything for myself. Oh wait there are people in my SG that haven't played in almost 550 days. I must be keeping them because if I went under 15 members I'd lose the prestige bonus. I must really need that free 300k.
Yeah that 300k will put a huge dent in the 28 million the SG has in the bank. Oh and look in the corner there that's two dimensional vortex's They cost 5 million prestige a piece. Where will I ever find the money to pay rent.
Yeah loyalty isn't one of my strong suits. -
