Ice armor visuals
I've got my ice armor colors set to the color one below the top-left corner. You still see the outline of the ice armors, but even with all of them running (including icicles) my costume is pretty visible.
Visually speaking, it's the stone tankers I feel sorry for.
I've got one costume that uses dark blues. keeps the costume pretty visible. i think the borders of the ice are a lighter color which makes it look pretty sharp.
I wish they'd add in other options... like a smoother, form fitting ice armor style instead of the blocks.
SG: Guadians of Paragon - VG: Paragon's Darkness
The Usual Suspects: Fimboolvetr (Icer Tank), Tsukiyomi (Mind/Psi/Ice Dom), Smiting Dragon (Dm/Sr Scrap), Widow Mortis (NW)
Up and Comers: Ameterasu (Km/Reg Scrap), Arrhymian (Elec/Nin Stalk), TDMKII (Bot/Traps MM)
I do something similar. My Ice/Axe tank's costume is mostly Valkryrie pieces in medium blue and silver, but I found with some experimentation that using darker tones in the armors makes them less visible. I use the row with the deepest blue tones; any of the three darkest colors work best. You can see the blocky outline of the armors, but her costume is still quite visible underneath.
You'd think (at least I did) that using lighter colors would make them less visible, but that's definitely not the case--go dark!
My Characters
Knight Court--A CoH Story Complete 2/3/2012
I was teaming with a Cold Domination Defender and he kept putting Ice Shield on me. I was the highest lvl character, and I was running my invulnerable tanker, who can take a right beating anyway.
Now, it kinda does have that translucent look about it, and because my character was pretty much the biggest on the team, he looked like a walking iceberg. So I sent him a message saying pretty much...
"You don't need to take time to keep putting iceshield on me my man, my defence is maxed anyway."
And he came back with...
"Well it all helps and it doesn't cost me anything to apply it and its no hassle at all. "
I didn't have the heart to tell him that I didn't want it the shield looked a bit fugly. So I just ignored it and kept on tankin'.
Why is it, that Ice Armor, one of the most costume obscuring sets didn't get the No FX unless in pvpoption on any powers?
I'm willing to believe they just didn't bother since it's tank only And with that said, since it seems like things don't get done quickly when it comes to changes in this game anymore (while so focused on main issue content) what is the least obscuring color combo you've found, or ways to incorporate the visuals to the costume (other than ... Ice Block.. Man. Costumes) |
I usually run with dark blue ice armors. That seems to work OK. It's not enough for me though. I run suppressclosefx and then I set the suppressclosefxdist to 1 (I think I'm remembering that right). Essentially my screen then doesn't show any of the armors or anything. Other people see them, and I don't like that, but at least they don't obscure my view.
I'd love to see it all sleek and smooth. Like Iceman's in the X-men movies.
To those who suggested dark blue dark blue, that's quite acceptable. It really didn't look like it'd be that good while in semi-dark Costume Creator menu, but in the open it's practically invisible.
Thanks
