Right. Character bio/info:
Marcus "Tatters" Phillips, Spines/SR scrapper
Born and bred in Paragon, Marcus was a reckless kid, nothing illegal but just general mischief and troublemaking - living in Kings Row wasn't much fun...
After the Rikti invasion he realised he wanted to do more with his life and stuck his head in the books. Tragically, he was soon diagnosed with a disease which caused abnormal bone growth. His parents were heartbroken and searched everywhere for help. They came across a back street 'doctor' looking to make a name for himself who promised them a cure.
Sure enough, the cure worked... for a while... The bone growths became worse but the pain began to lessen and Marcus found he could control them, to an extent. The cure had increased the efficiency of his neural pathways allowing him to react quickly to any change in his body and attempt to reverse it. A side effect of this resulted in his thoughts, speech, movements and reflexes far surpassing human levels.
Upon discovering what he could do, Marcus took to the streets, looking to do some good (and some trouble on the side).
Now 19, Marcus has adopted the name Tatters due to the state of his clothing and fights crime whenever and wherever he can. -
I'd play a scrapper if there's space.
@Hot Head
Great idea, btw. -
I would highly recommend you put more heals into Integration. It's not only your status resist power but also a fantastic healing power too. Increases your regen rate by a significant amount.
Check these out:
Krunch's regen guide
Jackhobo's spines/regen guide
There's a lot of good stuff in the Player Guides section too that would be worth a look.
Hope this helps. -
I wouldn't recommend thinking of the brute like a tanker... Brute's are more like scrappers, tbh with an even greater emphasis on resistance, I suppose.
Not a PvPer, I'm afraid but I find brutes to be fantastic in PvE.
Brutes are getting electric melee and electric armour in I7. Having tried both out briefly, I wasn't terribly impressed but, that said, I haven't yet seen the higher tier powers... -
Couple of things, Miss, that, IMO, really make */fire utterly incredible.
1) Tough. The added S/L res helps enormously. Drop Shadow Punch and get boxing? IIRC the damage is comparable though you'll lose the tohit debuff...
2) The 3rd SO in SJ isn't necessary, pretty sure the speed caps with 2 - put the extra slot into healing flames: very good heal.
3) I've found that consume works best with just rech and acc provided you use it in a group of 3 or more mobs.
4) The +def from CJ isn't all that good, I'm afraid. Those slots may be better used elsewhere...
As for DM...
1) Never really gone for tohit debuffs but could be handy alright.
2) I'd highly recommend slotting Midnight Grasp with damage instead of immob duration.
Lastly: stealth? -
I'd 6-slot ALL your def powers: you don't want to run the risk of getting hit, now do you?
Maybe put some enhances into them too... just a thought... -
I'd recommend slotting TP more unless you're planning to respec it out. With 3 range and a few endrdx it's the fastest travel power.
Not all that familiar with laser beam eyes and I don't know how potent it would be, even slotted for that much damage - those slots might be more use elsewhere... No doubt others will know better than I.
Edit: Oh, and welcome to CoH! -
I'd suggest you check under Section 7 of the EULA - if you have access to it:
"[The Customer] may not sell or auction any of the PlayNC accounts, Game accounts, avatars, items, currency or copyrighted material." -
Yes. Brutes are immense fun. Nothing quite like running from mob to mob, whacking them a couple of times and then hearing that great mission complete music that CoV has.
SS/Fire and man, that SMASH is just great! *giggles in delight* -
Don't know much about the other blaster epics but I've enjoyed Munitions.
- Body armour gives around 12% S/L res when 3-slotted
- Cryo Freeze Ray is a great sounding, looking and fun hold.
- Did not get Sleep Grenade... make of that what you will...
- LRM is a fantastic knockback power and does very decent damage.
A fun pool that I'd recommend. -
The benefit you get from the 4th SO in Hasten, Stamina, FA and Tactics is fairly minimal, I'm afraid. You'd be better off slotting an acc into your attacks.
Despite having QR and stamina, I'd still suggest you place an endrdx in all your toggles and possibly your attacks too - BS is very end heavy.
And I would second the vote for parry - 3-slotted for def it's a great power. -
Sorry, I wasn't clear. I should have specified:
Be more aware of the type of damage that mobs do if going the invul route.
Again, this is just personal opinion, others - yourself included - may have different ideas. -
Indeed. Unyielding at lvl 16 give mez protection and some general res (just over 10% IIRC...).
I'd agree with the others, though: regen is a much more survivable choice. Invul for scrappers gives decent smash/lethal res but poor res for other damage types. Regen, while it can feel squishier, heals damage of any type.
That said, if you want to go with Invul, just be a little more aware of the damage mobs do and choose your fights carefully. I'd also recommend getting all the passives aswell for the extra res - others may well disagree, however.
(Well, that's my opinion, anyway... ) -
Hello and good wishes!
Welcome to Union! I'm sure you'll fit right in - and yes, that's a good thing. -
With regards to your question about Health: do you mean
a) combined with fast healing but without Integration running?
b) combined with fast healing with Integration running?
For a) I wouldn't suggest going into any fights with even con or above mobs and not having Integration running.
If b) It adds about 77% IIRC to the regen rate (not sure if it's visibly noticable...) which I personally feel is worth it.
(Can never have too much regen ) -
Despite it not being her venue in the slightest, Ana Mueller made a brief appearance to hear Nathalie sing and to give words of encouragement to Wayward ((who I believe is working there...?)).
She congratulates Ryan but doesn't stay long - convalescence still in progress.
((Nice place. See ya soon)) -
Godmoding is doing something to someone else's character that doesn't give them any say in what happens.
e.g. "X punches Y in the face, breaking his nose."
or "X grabs Y in an unbreakable head-lock."
And so forth. -
I'm currently having great fun with the above build but I'm wondering about the possible benefit of weave.
I've taken CJ (only 1-slotted though) and Divine Avalanche (3-slotted for def). I'm going to take invincibility and tough hide but is it worth taking weave as well?
I'll end up running TI, Unyielding, Tough, Weave, CJ, Invincibility and probably Focused Acc as well... I imagine end will be a problem... -
I started an SS/Inv and really didn't take to it so I rerolled as an SS/Fire and haven't looked back
/Fire's got a heal, end recovery power and some damage auras (very nice with full fury). The res is decent but the lack of knockback protection will force you into the leaping pool but I'm still having great fun. Only lvl 25 at the mo but fiery embrace will add huge damage to those auras (+100% IIRC) later on.
Excellent powerset. -
Good points.
*slinks quietly into the corner*
That said, nearly all WS attacks do -recharge and -spd which does FEEL more controlly, I guess. -
PB.
WS is more of a controlly type. More ranged and lock down powers. It's one of the more challenging ATs to play, I find. -
On the Dev side:
I'd agree with the taser comment in general but if you can pull off the beanbag/taser mezz, might be worthwhile
IIRC, the +def from cloak isn't all that high to begin with, not sure if it's worth 3 slots...
I'd get caltrops earlier and slot a little more for slow - might help with the boss mezzing, less being attacked to worry about? But that depends on your playstyle.
Fly without end reducers... well, be careful! -
Not familiar with fire secondary but as for the primary: I wouldn't be all that keen on rain of fire - sends the mobs running when you want to use your AoE powers...
Also, don't think blazing bolt needs end reducers - stamina will recover the end lost during the activation time IIRC.
Looks fairly good otherwise.
Oh, and fly without end reducers can lead to nasty falls if you're not careful -
Hi there.
I'm fairly new to RP myself but if you're on Union you should head to the Galaxy Girl statue after 9pm (BST).
It can be very daunting at first but there are some good folks there.
As for etiquette, it seems there are a few different schools of thought but these helped me:

With regards to the new tactic, would it help if I kept my fingers crossed until (and possibly during) the raid?
