  1. Hello all,

    I've been on the road for a few things and was thinking a bunch about playing a DM/DA/Dark while driving. I was leveling a DM/FA, which I understand would be a faster leveling toon, but I am wondering if a DM/DA/Dark would be a better build (combination of damage, survivability and fun). So, would anyone please give me a run down as to how the combo plays? I have a DM/WP/Blaze scrapper and really like DM/

    Also, if someone has a build for some ideas and maybe even know of a good leveling map you advice would be greatly appreciated.

  2. My main is a DM/WP and here is the build I'm using, in case it helps.

    I'm always making minor changes to it though. I wish the darkness mastery was more effective.

    I want to try a dark/dark/dark. If it's a scrapper I might just go red side for the epic dark, because blue side darkness is meh. So, anyone want to get a suggestion as to which (scrapper or brute) would be better for solo play and level 50+?

  6. Fellow scrappers,

    Not too long ago I requested a help deciding on a new scrapper, because I did not want to continue combining DM/WP with blaze; due to concept reasons. I had some great opinions and idea, and decided to go with a Fire/WP/Blaze. My new toon is now in the 30s and I really like the damage and survivability thus far.

    That being said, I have changed a costume, name and theme of my DM/WP and now blaze works good for the new hero (Brother Fiery). With that came some slight changes to a build and I could use some help on it. I am thinking of removing shadow maul and placing melt armor instead. I understand that it’s not a great power, but I don’t care too much for shadow maul’s animation time and since I have the spiritual incarnate my recharge on my other powers are very solid.

    What I would like is a bit more defense, especially on fire and cold; I would live it to be higher than 35 so I don’t lose much and I can drop a purple.

    Anyways, like most posters I would really appreciate any suggestions on this toon. I have left the accolades and incarnates on to help with the full vision of Brother Fiery.

  7. I have a level 50 SS/Inv and it’s a great combo. Leveling was a pain, due to endurance issues. Once you get some cardiac love then it because just so much easier to play.

    Ok, I’m new to this base building stuff. I’m only looking for a base to store my items for my own account. I’m just confused at what I would need. I’m looking to hold salvage, enhancements, recipes, etc. Although the email system is nice, it’s not a long term solution.

    Dark Melee/Fire?

    I’ve asked this question myself.

    First, most people feel this is a better combo for a brute. I’m not a number cruncher, but it has to do with heals and a few other reasons; and I agreed when the info was presented. The double heals would really help the squishiness for /fa. Also, the damage output from combining soul drain and fiery embrace with burn and blaze aura should be fantastic. You would then have some of the best st attacks from your dm/ side.

    The reason I did not go with this combo is because it’s still seemed a bit to squishy in mids for my liking and because I already have a dm/wp scrapper. It got some very positive reviews from folks, so I might just try the combo someday myself.

  11. So, if I were to look for a strong middle-of-the road kind of scrapper or brute I should build a <insert>.

    My DM/WP scrapper does not bring enough AoE and adding blaze mastery just got me out of my element. My SS/Inv brute just seems visually boring. I also have a level 50 kat/wp, which was gutted last summer to help build my DM/WP scrapper’s strength. I need a change.

    I am debating over these power sets and could use some advice. Honestly, I want to just enjoy a well rounded hero. I don’t need to be the best, but I want to feel like a hero and just enjoy the fun. Oh, I should add in that I mostly solo.

    I’m looking for good damage (ST and AoE), strong def and I MUST be able to build a concept around him or I just can’t play him.

    Here are some options I am considering:

    Kat/WP – I already have him at level 50, but would need some love. With the incarnate powers I could add damage, which is what I felt he was lacking.

    DM/DA – Maybe a very underused armor set and something I could make a concept around. Would death shroud give me enough extra damage to make me feel like I’m moving a bit faster? There is something about the ability to add Absolute Amazement into Soul Transfer that just adds to the survivability of this combo.

    BS/Inv – I like katana and the debate on which is better, but BS has a nice balance and inv is … well Inv.

    Claws/Inv or WP (scrapper or Brute) – I have a level 20 claws/inv already… nice combo, but I got distracted with the real word and when I returned I just never moved forward, but that could change.

    Some more babbling – I can’t get into shield unless it’s with a sword. I’ve tried DM/SD a couple times, but for some reason I lose interest… a concept gap for me.

    So, the never ending question…. “Your opinions please?”

    My "main" is a DM/WP, but honestly there are time he frustrates me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very nice combo. The problem I have is adding some AoE attacks. Yes, Judgment helps and I will be working to increase my levels there. Right now I use blaze mastery for an epic, but it does not go with my theme… hence my frustration. If I could color tint the fire it then I would be happier. I went with Darkness Mastery a long time ago, but those powers are weaker. IMO the Brute’s soul mastery is slightly better. Although I like my toon I often think it might have been best to go brute DM/Inv, but everyone always thinks the grass is greener.

    So, I will post my build followed by some others I have tinkered with. The rest I will just load the data chunks. I hope something here helps. Again, it’s a good combo.

    Some might have the accolades and incarnates on. I went spiritual.

  15. Thanks for the advice... I took away unstop. I was mostly using it for a slot holder anyways.

    Here is an updated version of my build. I have equipped most of the slots, but really need to work on some of the purples. The second tier cardiac truly makes a difference.

    I did switch over to hurl, but I'm not sold on it as a power and I might go back to laser eyes. Anyways, any ideas on improvement opportunities would be appreciated.

    Unstop: I see some build leave it out, while others keep it. Other than being and end drain, why would it be a dropped power?

    I agree with what you’re saying that GSFC might be a good option in follow-up, but I’m also using the RRs currently in follow-up to add those particular bonuses. I might use a “chance for damage type” in there instead, maybe something like negative.

    QR is a strange one. I could get slightly beeter regeneration or a few more hit points. Still pondering, but overall I don’t think it makes too much of a difference.

    I have previously moved the regenerative tissue around a bunch, and in fact tried to move it into health. However Mids is showing that the current layout is the best for regeneration. If accurate, I drop around 10% of regeneration.

    I’ve already got the Glads in SoW, although I do agree that Panacea might be a waste. If I keep it then it would be the last item I invest in. The slight bonus to both health and end helps, but might be over done. I had even thought of not taking PP, but then what else? Assault gives so very little imo and nothing else seemed like a benefit, since I don’t have many slots to invest in.

    The 5th reactive armor helped with lower endurance cost and got me to over 35% def for fire & cold. Yes, it’s not much… but out of ideas on where to put the last slot.

    I’ve been thinking of moving a few of the extra slots into boxing for another set of kinetic combat, which would bring me over the 45%.

    The good thing is I have a long way to go before I reach 50. Oh, and I might have 2 billion saved on all of my toons, but I like goal setting.

  22. First, I understand there is another build request for the same combo on the first page, but the final plan is a bit different. I'm looking for advice on the concept below.

    I guess one question I have is if not taking haste is going to play much of a factor? All of my attacks are under 6 seconds, and even better if forced feedback kicks in with shockwave; which I added more for “whatever”. I really think I have more attacks than I will even really use, but they helped with def bonus and such.

    As I was building this toon, I originally had tactics but instead gave myself some extra melee def and to-hit bonus in follow-up.

    Endurance is better than mids shows, due to the two Performance Shifters and the Panacea.

    The Analyze Weakness in Slash might be a bit unnecessary, but it can’t hurt in with the new content.

    I guess my real problem is finding an alt I stay interested in. I leveled a SS/Inv brute to level 50 and even incarnated him some, but I just don’t “feel it”. I can’t seem to get any non-melee past level 25; I just like the up-close melee better I guess; I will continue to try again. Claws seems to be a solid balanced melee combatant with area and st attacks. I guess I’m looking for an character that I can run all content. I have a DM/WP scrapper, which I enjoy playing, but I would like better AoE. <--- just some background.
