Looking to build a one account base

Greetings all,

Ok, I’m new to this base building stuff. I’m only looking for a base to store my items for my own account. I’m just confused at what I would need. I’m looking to hold salvage, enhancements, recipes, etc. Although the email system is nice, it’s not a long term solution.

Any assistance?

Thank you

FYI You can't store recipes in a base.

These two links from Paragon Wiki will give you some info on Supergroups and Bases:

http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Supergroup

http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Base

Workshop items are what you are interested in. The workshop link at the bottom of the second link (Base) will explain what items you need to store what materials and their respective prestige costs. Note that you are limited to 18 storage items regardless of plot size.

To get started take a Lvl 10+ character to the SG registrar and form the SG. You'll need prestige to buy items. Having a second account will make inviting your alts a lot easier. I mention this because you get a 20K Prestige bonus per character that you add to the SG roster. Seperate from this, Praetorian born characters grant a 100K bonus to the SG if they have never been part of an SG.

Depending on the storage items you will use you may require power and control items to run them. I would recommend using a Combo unit. It provides both Control and Power to run your base items. The Combo item can only be housed in an Oversight Center (3x3). To max on storage you'll need two of the 2x2 Workshop rooms to obtain full storage capability. So at the minimum plan on upgrading your plot to the one above the basic plot.

This will give you a good starting point to construct you basic storage base. If you need more prestige don't forget to run in SG mode. You can also convert influence to prestige (i think its 500:1 influence to prestige)

Every month you will be charged base rent in prestige. This link explains how rent is calculated:

http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Rent

You don't need to pay rent on time as soon as its due, you can delay paying rent right before they shut you power off to save yourself some prestige.

Hope that helps.

No sweat and GL. I added some more info to my OP about rent that may be helpful.

I started out with a solo base for storage too on blueside. About 6-9 months of casual play I managed to outfit it with telepads to all 22 zones and maximize the storage. So its well within the realm of reason to build a base for your storage purposes within a short amount of time. Just be patient and you will get there.

Note: You do NOT need power or control just for salvage racks. You can make a 2-room base, just the entrance and 9 storage racks crammed into the 2x2 workspace, for 235k prestige. You can easily get that by just having 12 toons in your supergroup, each of whom grant 20k in "starter" funds.

Of course that only gets you salvage storage. The enhancement table is 95k, iirc., so if you really want that, you can pad up to 15 members, giving you 300k in starter funds, and go with 7 salvage racks, 1 enhancement table, and one 2x2 workshop room.

That's probably the best way to get started, then coalition with another group that has all the transporters in place, so you don't have to spend your money on that. If you are on "Justice", I'd be happy to coalition you to "Pistol-Packing Grannies"... our base is maxxed out for everything except "raids," which don't exist.

Chuck has some excellent suggestions .. Coalitions not only give you potential access to teleporters without shelling out hard earned prestige right away but it can also give you access to IO salvage storage and IO crafting tables. Both of these are, for whatever reason, sort of considered extensions of the university (Crafting table) and the vault (IO storage) so coalition members can use them. Inspiration storage, salvage racks and enhancements bins are all only accessable by SG members

There are a lot of different ways to start but the one I usually purchase is the Oversite center .. this only costs 50,000 prestige and allows you to add one staorage rack of any kind and one workbench of any kind. It also allows you to put in the Combo unit which will supply your base with a small amount of power and control.

After that add in your 2X 2 workshop for the enhancement bins, inspiration collectors and Io salvage racks. You can even put an IO personally storage vault and crafting table in there.. or keep both of those in your Oversite room.

You can eventually expand and start adding teleport of your own but after 1 tp room (teleport to 4 zones) you will need to add a generator and control room. IF you decide to go that route add the generator room first... The generator will produce energy without control but a main frame computer doesn't do anything until it has energy... why shell out prestige for the control room and main frame before you have the generator to run them? If you want to stay small (8 x 8 plot) about the most you can do is 3 teleport chambers. thats tp to 12 zones so pick ones that give you quick access to the tram or ferry, depending on which side, and use them to hit the others..

I'd also suggest you go slow and build up the rooms you have before buying others. Room costs are not cheap and why use up prestige and wind up with a bunch of empty rooms with nothing in them? Instead buy a room, outfit it so its functional and then work on the next.

I don't know what your financial situation is but I'd advice against buying prestige with influnce unless you have INF you don't know what to do with. the exchange rate is awful 1 million INF = 2000 prestige. the cheapest rooms available cost 50,000 prestige so you'd need 25 million just to have an empty room in base.

Here is what I did converting just a little INF to Prestige (I think I had to add about 300K Prestige) to get a small base maxxed out for salvage storage and nothing else.

If you have some money, and you want a fully-functional base in a 12x12, here is what I had until I decided to put in a large room for decorating (which I haven't done yet!). This base has all 22 hero-side beacons, a reclaimator with 2 robo-surgeries, an auto-doc, an Ouro Crystal, 8 enhancement tables, 8 salvage racks, 1 Insp. Holder, all 3 work benches, the SuperCollider, Personal Vault, and invention workbench.

And here is a strategic re-arrangement after upgrading to 12x16 to fit in a 7x7 room:

I have a habit of bricking off the generator and control items, because nobody needs to see them or do anything with them...

I also have a habit of bricking off unused parts of teleporter rooms, as you can see. So I plan to do one of those obnoxious conference rooms in the 7x7 as I find the time.

And I like having long lines of sight down the hallways, with travel between rooms concentrated toward the center.

Hope this helps, somehow.

Come one, at least put a plant or two in there.

Nope! Can't do it. Not only does that mismatch the "warehouse" concept, but I've decided to make 2 warehouses, the one shown having 12 racks for uncommon salvage and 6 for rare, and the new base having all 18 for common salvage.

So I already moved all my "padding" toons to the new spot, so this one has a prestige balance of -280K. I can't even add a $0 doorway.

I may be wrong on this, but doesn't rent for that salvage storage come due every four to six weeks?

It's kind of a long story. I came back after 3 years, but wasn't sure I could get my old account back, so the padding is being done from a new account that has nothing over level 12. I did get my old master account back and there are 2 game accounts there, one of which I activated, and am playing. As soon as the new account goes inactive, I plan to re-activate the 2nd (original) game account and use that to re-pad the SG that owns that base.

Aren't you sorry you asked???

I promise I will add a water cooler and bathroom doors at that point. But no plants. They'd just die from lack of sunlight down there anyway. That and the smell of arcane salvage that just never really goes away.

Yes but removing members as he has described can leave you in a deficit.
