Wife of shopowner: She just...just waltzed in. I thought she was a regular customer, she looked too young to... She was pale, a little too thin. She was browsing the jackets, picked out one she liked...

RIP officer: And when did she pull the knife?

Wife of shopowner: It's strange, she didn't seem to have a knife on her. But she made for the door so my husband called after her. He ran outside after her and then... I heard him scream.

RIP Officer: And was your husband suffering from a virus at the time?

Wife of shopowner: That's even stranger - he was perfectly healthy. But...he was so pale and sweating.

RIP Officer: Well he's being taken care of now. Looks like the entry wounds of the knife were shallow. Call us if she comes back.
  2. How about these two? I'm no expert on what should and shouldn't be used as bonuses and whatnot so feel free to change bits around and suggest more.

The rationale - which I agree with - is that if Fitness (for which, read "Stamina") was an inherent, End management would be such a minor issue that you might as well drop the entire stat from the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I disagree, stamina helps with endurance, it doesn't allow you to never look at your blue bar again.

I think something should be done about endurance at low levels though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Endurance at low levels affects different characters in different ways. Also, lower level characters have a better chance of hitting the enemy so, really, should be using less endurance due to more accurate attacks.

I can understand the frustration with the OPs experience of Stamina. However if four powers suddenly disappear from the game (i.e. become inherent) then there would be less point in choosing different builds of powersets because you're more likely to be able to take all of your Primary and Secondary powers.

I also think this would make the game far too easy. Endurance is easily countered by teaming and to make everyone less reliant on endurance would, imo, promote soloing. This would be a shame.

To be honest, ever since the temp travel powers have been available from Safeguards and Mayhems, I tend to pick the powers I want (to test them out) and then respec into a 'regular' build (with Travel and usually Fitness) later. And there's nothing stopping someone from picking whatever powers they want even if the respec comes after level 24 (I have the bonus of a vet respec).
  4. A White van, marked with the letters G.I.F.T., pulled up outside the toy store.

Its single occupant, the psychic Helena Hammond, exited the cab, drawing her white overcoat close to her to stave off the late November chill. She reached back into the cab to retrieve a black, gladstone bag and slammed the door shut.

As she approached the police tape, Helena fished out her purse and flashed her Hero Licence at the guard on duty.

"I hear there's been an incident."
  5. It's safe to say that I won't be completing the task

I could list the thousand and one excuses as to why but I tell ya what - drawing 50 images in a month sounds simple but it needs discipline.

Oh well, there's always next year. I will scan the few images I've managed to do since the last post in the near future.
  6. I'm asking the general RP populace if they have or know of any characters (PC or NPC) who are able to boost the abilities of another.

The powers do not necessarily have to be existant IG or indeed be used exclusively for good. Heck they could even be in the employ of Crey or another similar entity.

I just want to know for a rough outline of something I intend to plot at a later date.

Thoughts, suggestions and questions are welcome.
  7. Spell Ink and Masterwork Weapon seem to be back up, possibly because the items remaining have been stewing there since the days of 50,000+ for each.

I know what the original OP means - it would be far easier sometimes to just get rid of salvage en masse. Perhaps an option to create a lucky dip goody bag out of salvage (bundle of salvage is sold for the price we put up) is an option?
  8. Hello folks.

Okay, I am rubbish at doing exciting things with the few pages I have but, even more embarrassingly, I am at a loss as to putting pictures up. Seriously.

Is there a handy tutorial for idiots like myself?

Is it wrong to want to try this?
  10. After a harrowing mission in the RWZ I am definitely 6-slotting! I may also respec out of Hurdle and opt for Health, if only for the Sleep resistance.

Everything is pretty much worthless until level 35 .

    [/ QUOTE ]

no, common drops have paid for my last few alts to be fully SO'd up at L22.

And its also a fallacy that COT are tough. After L40 they are one of the easiest factions in the game. Behemoths, Air Thorns and Death Mages are about all you face.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is true. Thorns are a pain up until 40 and then, despite being everywhere, they're pretty poor. I guess people have more mez protection (including the squishies thanks to various APPs) and better damage capability at end game and the Thorns are never as powerful after that. That's when Malta take over and become teh evilest group

Tsoo missions, on all of my characters, are a joy. Once the Sorcerer and the Ancestor Spirits are taken care of, it's plain sailing. I personally believe that people don't like them because they present more of a challenge than Trolls, Outcasts, Council, Family, BP and Warriors at that level range. And some of the drops they give are pretty good (plenty of Spell Inks, Living Tattoos and 'interesting' recipes were obtained by doing their story arcs with several of my recent characters).

The rare magic thing though makes sense to me: Inanimate Carbon Rods are more likely to crop up than magical paraphernalia (sp?) and magic, within the game, is deemed a very powerful thing so the rarity of its artefacts seems to fit.

Of course, you could always just mug Azuria. She's always losing things.
  12. Hurrah! Just checked back and, my my, that proc is rather yummy! Glad I picked it up.
  13. Hello

This may seem a bit bizarre to some but I have decided to 6-slot AT on my Blaster's Aim. The bonuses are pretty nifty imo.

He's an Elec/Elec (with plans to go Elec in the APP, naturally)

    Any thoughts?
  14. Sleep pattern seems to be back to normal-ish - i shall be sending a reply shortly
  15. I'm not sure Ionos is ready to brave the Rogue Isles just yet, but it's good to make note of it for future reference.
  16. I was wondering if an increase to the number of active missions available (i.e. from 3 to say, 5) could be implemented at some point?

I have no idea how this being implemented would affect anything so it's a very basic suggestion as it stands.

I know, from going through the later stages of Villains, that having more than 3 missions at a time would have made things a lot easier for opening contacts' call buttons sooner.

I have a slightly different but effectively the same suggestion: differentiate certain missions (costume slot, capes, auras, enhancement stores (CoH only), the dreaded 'speak to X' missions) from 'regular' contact and radio missions. For example:

Three slots for missions from contacts/radio
    Two slots for 'miscellaneous' missions.

Again i'm not sure how that could work, but it's a thought.
  17. Hello all.

I have a few questions concerning things for heroes without family (or family that know they're still alive) to do over the coming 'family'-oriented holidays in Paragon.

    1) are there any soup kitchens anyone has established and, if so, where? I mean this as something for a hero to do as a charitable act, of course.

    2) will any of the clubs/pubs/bars/restaurants in our unofficial, official canon be doing any holiday specials? I know that in the UK the above-mentioned cater for those without or not desiring to have family commitments but I wasn't sure if this would be the case in an American city.

I think that's it for now. I only ask as Ionos is in a difficult position family-wise and needs excuses not to alert his family to the fact that he is alive. He may go see them anyway but distractions are always good.
  18. So a proposal for a new engine?
Not sure how feasible this is. Oh, wait, yes I am

As much as new engines and the like are 'woo', City of... is not going to have a new one anytime soon (cue bizarre occurrence resulting in me eating an item of headgear whilst riding a flying pig).

I like ragdoll because, well, it's not realistic. If I'm going to be flying across a fictional city, arresting villains by putting 10,000 volts through them, then I couldn't care less if an NPC waves at me in a particularly realistic fashion.

I also wouldn't care for the lag / downtime as new system is implemented / whatever side effects of this kind of thing usually occur.

The OPs original topic, iirc, is that of events which can be currently implemented and are 'likely' in as much as the engine can do it.
I personally doubt time would be invested in doing this unless it somehow enhanced quality of life and gameplay. That doesn't mean I'm against the idea, far from it, it's just that there are more things the devs could do to make the game more special (Moonbase! ).

    Next Halloween

Put a shopping mall, underground facility and walled city in the PvP zone and I would definitely have a look (Resident Evil/The Living Dead series) even though I'm not a big fan of PvP in general.

I quite like the idea of consigning 'old' raids etc to specific zones (for example, there's really no reason why Zombie raids can't happen all the time in Striga and Dark Astoria as they fit quite well, thematically speaking).

Next year's events are always fun to suggest for or speculate on. I was thinking that perhaps the Rogue Isles could have a 'Witch Hunt' event - I have no idea how this would work and what it would entail but the name of the event suits Recluse's dictatorship quite well, imo.

I also quite like Trick or Treating, but I agree that perhaps next time the event should last no more than two weeks.
  20. This idea occurred to me a while back: Why not have some stock market information available (naturally tied to Wentworth's and the Black Market) so that people can see the overall 'performance' of various types of salvage, recipes and the like?

The 5 most recent transactions in WW and the BM are useful when making decisions on buyingbut I think it's be nice to have an item history. It's not a major thing, hence the thread title (Quality of Life) but I thought it might contribute to the notion of an economy. Any thoughts?
  21. My YouTube Fu is strong.

Perhaps they could be the Tier 2 pets for Puppet Masterminds?
  22. Like Waldorf and Statler?

A crowd 'event' could work in a similar way to the Superadine Raid, with special mobs (Hapless Citizen models, capable of being hurt by enemy mobs) 'gathering'.
I have no idea how the rest would work out, short of a police warning that something is going down in [insert zone here].
  23. Join With Us!

Another ensemble, this time from three villain groups: The Lost, The Circle of Thorns and The Council.

I think villain groups have as much right to a sing-song as our own heroes and villains

They're on a recruiting drive (by foul means, naturally) and the part around 3:07 is, to my thinking, where the 'recruited' civilians are transformed.
  24. It came to me in a dream... - imagine the scene: Port Oakes and Grandville, a host of seedy villains caught in the hypnotic powers of The Television and The Radio. Another montage as villains, egged on by these evil appliances, commit crimes around Paragon and the Rogue Isles. With jazz hands.

Oh and CB? What is it about that certain Shatner clip that makes me run away in fear? I still haven't been able to watch it all the way through.
