Alternative Thanksgiving and Christmas plans

Hello all.

I have a few questions concerning things for heroes without family (or family that know they're still alive) to do over the coming 'family'-oriented holidays in Paragon.

1) are there any soup kitchens anyone has established and, if so, where? I mean this as something for a hero to do as a charitable act, of course.

2) will any of the clubs/pubs/bars/restaurants in our unofficial, official canon be doing any holiday specials? I know that in the UK the above-mentioned cater for those without or not desiring to have family commitments but I wasn't sure if this would be the case in an American city.

I think that's it for now. I only ask as Ionos is in a difficult position family-wise and needs excuses not to alert his family to the fact that he is alive. He may go see them anyway but distractions are always good.

There's a soup kitchen/homeless shelter affair in King's Row that Z has established. Unfortunately, I don't have the details down anywehere and she's not around this week.

I think you can assume that there will be restaurants open on Thanksgiving, probably some bars and the like too. There's always someone willing to ignore the holiday in any society.

One that I talk about often among my regular troupe is run out of one of the shacks in Mercy Island, near Fort Mercy. It's the home of a non-playable character named Lyn Lento, a blind psychic in her fifties who always has a big pot of some kind of meat-based soup ready for any stray waif or hungry down-and-out who wants a full belly and chunk of bread to mop it up with. ICly she's mother to my character Ardent Resolve, who recently died during roleplay.

Lyn has always given free food to anyone in Mercy who needs it, and will continue doing so over the holiday period, the same as she's done for twenty years.

I'm not sure Ionos is ready to brave the Rogue Isles just yet, but it's good to make note of it for future reference.

The Unity Vigil also open their doors (more so then usual) for those that don't have the opportunity (or desire) to celebrate it with their family. (and no doubt some families will celebrate it at the tower.)

I gathered that there's a large banquet and live entertainment of some sort... but Zortel would have to specify that.

In case any New Vigilants members hadn't been told:

Cindersnap will be having lunch with those who haven't gone off elsewhere to scoff loads of food with family (or just the ones who fancy two Thanksgiving dinners) as an 'alternative family' gathering. It's private rather than open, but I thought I'd stuff it in here for reference.

Nitoichi and possibly Liberty Girl will be there. Neither have family who do much celebrating. Libby's family are probably long dead. Ni's Dad is dead, her brother is a cabbage, and her mother has the worst deal, she's in Orlando.

Ahh if there is a New Vigilants Thanks Giving then Leo will be there (if thats ok), not wanting to stray to far from his sister. Gemini will refuse to come out her her room for the celebration (she's a bit of a brat )
