Quote:Actually, Tyrant is pretty annoyed at Battle Maiden over what happened in Steel Canyon too. It's shown in Max's Personal Story (which is still in Beta so it can change, but I think it'll stay the same). Not to say that Tyrant isn't an evil maniac... but things would be a LOT better if he didn't surround himself by people that make him look sane by comparison. It's the Skyway City part that he didn't like - there's nothing in the Apex TF that he'd object too.
And it's not so much his employment policy that's at fault - it's his enslaving the multiverse policy that's gotten him into trouble.
SPOILERS FOLLOW!!!!
After finishing his mission in Dark Astoria, Max goes on to his next assignment. Malta has learned that Vanguard is keeping Battle Maiden prisoner after the events of the Apex TF, and that their agents in Praetoria have reported that Emperor Cole has no intention of recovering her. Not after she disobeyed direct orders and attacked a city center instead of a military target. Malta thinks they can use her, in particular her nanites that power her, so Max is sent in to retrieve Battle Maiden and her Halberd.
Max infiltrates a remote Vanguard base where Battle Maiden is being kept prisoner. He speaks to the captive warrior, and she's at first confident that Cole will come and break her free, and she will have sweet revenge on those those who hold her captive.
However Max explains the situation to her, and Battle Maiden says that she is betrayed by Cole. But she's not surprised that he lacks the will to do what must be done to send fear into his enemies. She agrees to Max's deal, and says she will help turn Malta into true warriors. -
- Visit Prometheus in Ouroboros (he's the big blue guy) for a bit of backstory on each of the trials, and some other miscellaneous info. Going through his dialogue can help you get a better grasp on the overall story. Some of his dialogue is unlocked when you complete certain trials, and more info gets added as new issues come out.
- There's a little [?] button on the trial info window you get when you're running trials (the one that shows objectives, Boss HP, etc). If you click it, it'll give more detailed info on your current objectives, and it changes as the trial goes on. If you're ever confused as to what you're supposed to be doing, take a moment to stop and read the help info. It'll help you understand the objectives a lot better... and to be honest, most people won't even notice if you're just standing around doing nothing for a minute or two while you read. -
I have had the occasional crash, but rarely enough that I would say "almost never". The only time it happened consistently for me it was a problem of my video card dying (fan stopped, so it would overheat often).
As for lag... only times I can really remember were cases of definite server-side lag. Old-school Hamidon, that one mission in the ITF, the BAF... all of which have been fixed by now. -
Well, at least it has an aura (though one I couldn't imagine using) and a costume change emote. That makes it SLIGHTLY more useful than the party pack.
-
I could be wrong, but that kind of looks like the Smoldering aura. Could we get a shot of what it looks like standing still to compare?

Quote:I think the idea is that if you want to make your enemies more varied, you might want to make multiple copies of the same one so it's not just an army of clones. So one might have face 1, one would have face 2, etc... the problem with that is that it bloats your storage used quickly. The idea was that you could (optionally I assume) make it random so you'd only have to make 1 enemy, but still have variety.I'm not sure what that means. It doesn't really sound good though.
Or that's how I understood it.
I think, preferably, you could have a lot of control over that. Give it a range of faces you want, so it won't select ones you DON'T want (ie zombie faces, or stuff)... and maybe even let you randomize other stuff other than faces. -
It may be deliberate, but the fact it's on live may be unintentional. It's entirely possible that the devs may be playing with a few different ideas for changes to knockback, and trying them out before presenting them to the players for testing... and one of those tests accidentally got included in the live build.
-
I agree with this. But add a very obvious warning/confirmation box when you try to buy something free to VIPs when you're still on a VIP subscription. In other words, make it possible to buy, but make it difficult to buy by accident.
-
I'm still gonna be paying until the devs refuse to take any more of my money. But that's not to say I can't take advantage of Freedom... being able to have a few extra alt accounts that don't drain my coffers can be quite useful.
-
Here's what I want: The option to hide certain items (such as the prestige sprints, as the common example) and make it so that when you hit Claim All, it doesn't claim hidden items. And of course, hidden items won't cause the email button to light up.
For bonus points, make it so that when we hide items, we get the option to hide the item on ALL characters (so that we don't need to re-hide them on every single alt or new character). -
I wouldn't worry too much about it until after the servers are back up and opened to the public. If the points are still missing by that point, THEN there will be a problem. But right now, they're still in the process of setting everything up.
No need to scream doom quite yet. -
Quote:I LOVE this idea. Though double drop rate is a bit much. One of the new purchasable powers in i21, Windfall, increases drop rates by 50% (among other things). I'd say make this option the same, increase drops by 50%, and let the two of them stack. The economy of this game is completely broken.
Far more influence comes into the system than what leaves - this is a major problem in any economy whether they be in a mmo or in real life.
The inflation can be fixed by either reducing the amount of influence coming into the game or increasing the rate at which it leaves.
I suggest doing both.
We have the option of turning off our experience and gaining more influence. I propose doing something similar, but the opposite. Give us the ability to turn off our influence gain and in return, double our drop rates. All recipes have twice the chance of dropping (including purples and pvp IOs), vanguard merits and architect tickets drop twice as fast too.
This not only halts the influence brought into the economy but it also gives us more to sell on the marketplace - further utilizing the biggest inf sink in the game and increasing the outflow of revenue.
Edit: Just noticed the typo in the title. Won't let me edit it - fail lol.
But generally anything that increases supply is something I fully support. Decreasing inf generation is just the icing on the cake.
As an added note about Windfall, while it does increase inf generation, it only does so by 25%, while it increases everything else by 50%. So overall you get more supply than inf coming in, compared to normal. I like that. -
Quote:Weird one here. Well, let's break it up and analyze. I'll make some major assumptions here, especially with the second part, so bear with me.well okay feycat i love it now im happy it came earlier than i predicted so now ill get to use AVs in missions so now my farming/mission doing will be faster sry didn't read it ill look more next time
well okay feycat i love it now im happy it came earlier than i predicted
Well, okay Feycat. I'm happy it's coming earlier than I predicted.
Simple enough. evil women for pinn had made a post previously and Feycat corrected her. This is missing punctuation and capitalization, but otherwise is fine. The wording for "I love it now" is a bit odd and could be removed or replaced with something that fits better. I'll just remove it. Also, since the issue hasn't actually come out yet, it should be "it's coming" instead of "it came". But that's forgivable.
so now ill get to use AVs in missions so now my farming/mission doing will be faster
So now I'll get to use AVs in missions (with Summon a Signature Hero/Villain?). Thus, my farming/mission running will be faster.
This is probably the most confusing part. The only thing I can figure is that evil women for pinn is likely referring to the "Summon a Signature Hero/Villain Power" from the Paragon Rewards tree. It's possible that Pinn might be misunderstanding this power a bit, though I won't assume too much more. However, I'll note that the Summon a Signature Hero/Villain Power is a Tier 9 Paragon Rewards power and cannot be purchased in the store. It has a limited number of charges and doesn't even last all that long (five minutes, as I recall) Overall it's not very good for farming. Honestly, I'd stick with Shivans. I cannot think of any other changes off the top of my head that she may be referring to.
Other than that, the sentence just needs capitalization and punctuation. The major part missing is context, which I have to guess at. reworded to remove repeated use of "So now", but that's not really a huge error, just sloppy writing. I do similar mistakes all the time myself. Replacing "Mission doing" with "Mission running", though it could probably be made a bit better than that.
sry didn't read it ill look more next time
Sorry, didn't read the entire thread. I'll look more next time.
Another easy one. Politely apologizing for posting without reading the entire thread. Replace "sry" with the full word, add capitalization and punctuation. I expanding the idea a bit as well, just to make it easier to understand at a glance. -
I think any launch date they have in mind is hanging on the bet that the latest Beta patch works and fixes everything that needs to be fixed to make it a live candidate. Although the current issues with the Beta server PROBABLY aren't because of the patch, since we can't get on and test it out yet, things are still balancing on a needle's edge.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is their current plan for a release date (I think we've already passed when they originally wanted to get it out, so they're probably just as anxious to get it live as we are)... but since there's still some testing to be done, don't be surprised if that day comes and goes with nothing done. -
Cole's character has always been an interesting one. He's a "good man", but because he made a few different decisions, and also because his world is a lot worse off than Primal is, threat wise (mostly due to the Devouring Earth there), he ended up as an Emperor and a Tyrant. He tries to do things for the best, but everyone around him tends to be evil jerks... and he's even become a bit twisted himself, actually believing his own propaganda.
But still, Cole is still a good man. Not an irredeemable villain like some of those around him (such as Mother). It wouldn't even be a huge shock if he saw the error of his ways. All he wants, after all, is peace... even if he needs to use force to attain it. -
I think that's a fair assessment. Everyone on Freedom is PLing in AE, but everyone on Virtue is standing around and just chatting in Pocket D.
-
Well, even then, what if they redo Kings Row or other higher-level zones sometime down the line and use combat phasing? Or if they make a brand new zone that uses it? It's fine and well if the current implementation uses that trick to bypass problems... but what about the future?

Inf generation is a big issue. While there's already way too much inf in the game, that's gotten through gameplay. And while the gold sellers would be just repeating farms for it, at least they're playing the game, somewhat. And if they're using any non-AE farms, they're also getting drops which they probably sell on the market (because hey, more inf), which increases supply. Plus, they probably play the market a bit for the inf (since that's a super easy way to get rich), and that removes inf from the system (at least a bit of it).
Straight up selling inf, however, just adds more inf to the system without any chance of removing a portion of it at the same time. It also has no chance of producing any drops at the same time, as farming would... so you'd just get an increased amount of inf circulation without any increase in supply.
That would lead to an inflation nightmare.
What the devs ARE doing (which is a much nicer plan) is cutting the middleman and selling enhancements directly (though currently not ALL of them). These enhancements are also account-bound, so you can only trade them to characters on the same account. Only downside is that it MIGHT reduce the number of people using the market... though I doubt it. And it won't screw over the supply/demand balance like selling inf would. -
It took a bit of checking, but the original seven origins were: Altered Human, Mutant, Superior Human, Magical Powers, Mystical Artifact, Cyberware, and Gadgeteer. This was changed sometime early in CoH's development before launch, among various other things. Here's a link to an interview that mentions them.
As for Epic ATs, those came about later on (though we obviously didn't get all of the ones that were talked about). Though those would probably still fit under the existing five origins we have (look at the EATs we do have for examples of that). -
Quote:That's weird, the run I was on that got me Avoids the Green Stuff we didn't need to do any of that stuff. Just went in with a small team, and made sure everyone knew what they were doing and alert enough to not stand around like a fool... no need to have anyone door sit (or hospital sit, as the case may be). And it was actually pretty fun getting the badge.Well, I helped a league get the Green Stuff badge on Triumph.
I'm not happy about how it had to be done.
Most of the league was told to stay in the hospital and pretty much have the heavy hitters beat on AM. Only I was a bit late telling people to go to the hospital so a few more than I expected stayed out.
Two players stayed away from the main fight but attracted the Obliteration beam more than not. Only 1 of those got into Line of Sight of AM and got targeted with disintegration once.
So, yeah. We did it. I don't consider this badge to be anywhere near the term "fun". It wasn't fun as a leader asking players to sit on the sideline. It wasn't fun for those that were in the hospital. It wasn't fun for those of us battling AM.
Again, I have to ask the developers: Why did you toss out every ounce of fun with this trial?
It seems to me that the one making the badge attempt unfun for you was the team leader, not the devs. -
One application I think may be cool for use with vehicles (assuming it's handled properly), having them work with GPS roadmap devices. Example, the GPS says that I need to make a right turn ahead. The augmented reality paints an arrow on the road (if implemented properly, being intelligent enough that it doesn't obstruct cars ahead of you) so that I also have a visual indication of where I need to turn. This way, you wouldn't have to take your eyes off the road for an occasional glance at the GPS display... it'd all be displayed on the road in front of you.

What I'd do (though I'm not sure if it's possible). Kinda writing it out off the top of my head, nothing I've put a great deal of thought into, but...
Increase the amount of time between pulses, but also increase the base damage. Maybe something like 70% at full health, and 90% damage at worst. HOWEVER, make it so that you get a bit of resistance against the damage for each player close by (give it a bit of range, of course). The idea being that if the team sticks together with everyone else, you take less damage (or maybe even none at all, if there's enough people there). Probably have the numbers around the area where you can split a full league into two or three groups, and have each one fully protected so long as they stick together (and there's not too much extra damage from AM having low HP).
This gives us a way to mitigate the damage AND it encourages people to stick together. The increased time between pulses is so that people can run off and do solo-ish stuff (like grabbing temps) and still have time to get back to the group with time to spare.
I think it would make the trial less frustrating while also keeping it suitably hard/strategic. And since people will be encouraged to stick together, there should hopefully be less people getting confused as to what to do (since everyone else scatters), which should help people understand the trial a little better.
