Quote:There never was an option for *an* endurance cost.I understand the CoH loyalists will grief you over being disappointed with Hybrid, but I can't help but agree with you on this one. I personally prefer the always on toggle with an endurance cost.
The original design was for *mega*-endurance cost that drained you completely if you left it running unless you changed your entire build to compensate.
It was never designed at any point to be always on at it's current power level without significant compensatory adjustments by the player.
If you preferred an toggle that was not mega-draining, you would have had to settle for significantly less power. Now, if *that's* your preference, then fine. That's totally understandable as is your disappointment. But if you wanted the big power, then a toggle that wasn't mega-draining was never yours to lose in the first place. -
The two help wanted ads for UI specialists is still up on the site.

Quote:There usually is an exception made for guides in the Guides forum. When people pull up a guide, they don't expect it to be fresh, topical information, but something written long ago. Thus, when it's necro'd, no one is confused about it being a new thread; nor is it a stealth form of bumping or lobbying.(tl;dr version: can we please have at least an informal exception to thread necromancy rules for Player Guides?)
Threads get necro'd not because the mods are sifting the forums looking for necro'd thread, but because they get reported as necro threads, at which point, a mod steps in to lock it. People very rarely would ever report a 'necro'd' guide as being a necro-post, thus, they are left alone. And if a new mod who doesn't know the score ever does become overzealous about locking a Guide thread, I wind up have a private chat with some folks to get it unlocked. -
Quote:They said it would be a toggle... a toggle that drains End so hard, that only specialized End-building builds could run it continuously -- everyone else had to toggle it on as needed for as long as they could handle. It was always envisioned and presented as a power you do not have on all the time, even when it was a toggle.im disappointed in hybrid also, it doesnt work anything like the way the devs. said it would.
At the urging of players complaining about how they didn't like the End-drain (and also because of balance issues since there were some powersets that could easily handle the End-drain), the original schema was tossed. That left two options:
1. A non-End-draining toggle or Auto Power with greatly reduced power effects; or,
2. A click or limited-time-toggle power with a limited duration that retains the original strength.
The Devs listened to feedback and chose #2.
Obviously, not what some wanted. Some would have rather had option #1.
Others, ignoring just how over powered it would be, wanted a continuous strong effect in a toggle with little End-drain. That wasn't ever gonna happen, and the Devs made that abundantly clear.
So, if it doesn't work as originally planned (huge End drain toggle), it's because the Beta players vetoed it, not because the Devs are capricious gods. -
I can guarantee you that you will not get in trouble. This is no where near exploit country if indeed it is a bug, which it probably is. Knock yourself out.

Quote:Yes, it does seem that this fell through the cracks./facepalm
1) I am on a free account, so no free access to Night Ward contacts.
2) I did not purchase the Night Ward mission pack.
3) I can not access the primary storyline contacts of Night Ward.
Therefore, why am I able to do missions for Trilogy and Fireball while Mistress Maria and Montague Castanella say that I need to be VIP or purchase the pack?
Am I getting something for free as intended or is this a bug and they should be locked behind a payment?
My point was, made in sarcastic jest, that if they wanted to sell these arcs, they'd together be worth less than one Paragon Point. So, I find it unlikely that the Devs will rush to correct this... they're no selling point for the zone. -
Quote:The Pet has Psi Lightning (ST Ranged) and Psi Tornado (Targeted AoE) and Psi Link which does some mumbo jumbo mutual buffing with Penny.Isn't her pet somewhat similar to the Awakened Seers powers in First Ward?
Indeed, very similar to Awakened Bosses, Mindstorms.
Also, the Storm Voids in the MoMiTrial have Psi Lightning. And Shalice has Psi Lighting and Psi Tornado.
I believe he was concurring with you based on the list I provided.
Here, this will make you feel better, explain what Psi Link actually does that's more specific than "heal" and less obfuscating than "-200 Melee_Ones% to chance of all effects tagged LinkCharging for 600s (after 23 second delay)". -
With regard to -Regen...
It is helpful to have Lore Longbow Cataphracts since they have -Regen. Pets die easily from normal damage in the Tyrant fight, so, time putting out pets with Barrier or other defense +Regen buffs.
Also, if you really want to ensure victory, convince a good number of the team to have the +1 Level Super Inspirations and some Team Inspirations which can have teams hit the damage cap for 5 minutes at a time.
But, those are just crutches until everyone learns how to dodge the lightning reliably, just like EoEs were for Hamidon Raids. -
Quote:That was probably an overreach. Should get /bugged.If you run Hero's hero via Ouro you can still get Statesman's pal badge, hero epic now gives positron's pal badge.
Otherwise States is gone, I don't even see him available in the AE -
I saw it in the Flashback Crystal... knock yourself out!

Quote:Are you talking about the unwieldy and huge Combat Attributes window or the small and tidy Combat Monitor window where you can monitor just one or a handful of attributes?Personally, I *never* have the CA open unless I am purposefully checking something, or want to know how much inf I can email to a new alt.
If it's important, it needs to be visible.
For the UGiTrial, I get everyone to issue: /monitorattribute confuse protection so that they know not to attack when it gets under 20 in the last room. -
Quote:It's a concept piece: Telling the basic plot line of basic fantasy adventure using Archetypal characters. And it's done out of order for interest, otherwise, it would be way too linear and obvious and uninteresting.Trilogy, on the face of it the contact looks like it has an interesting story. Be a character in a story, things are wackily out of order to make you piece the real story together, yadda yadda.
But when I played it, I felt like I was playing a one-star AE arc that just ripped off Star Wars. The most bare-bones of plot, absolutely no connection to the wider canon, no effort put into mission objectives, stale dialogue, and worst of all... NO SOUVENIR AT THE END.
Does anyone understand what the bleeping bleep is up with this 'story' arc? Why does it even exist? Why was time wasted on a product so substandard it makes i0 low level arcs masterpieces of story-telling in comparison?
Whether it succeeds is in the eye of the beholder. I can't remember anyone in Beta beholding it as good. At best, 'meh.' At worst, words that can't be used in the forum. -

The rap against the MagITrial is:
1. Boring.
2. Too Hard.
3. Only source of Hybrid iXP.
My response is:
1. That's subjective. And if you think it's boring, I won't tell you that you're wrong. I wonder if you find the BAF as equally boring since, to me, they're about the same structurally. Devs see datamining reports. The saw how much the BAF is farmed compared to the more complex iTrials. So, they gave us another BAF, albeit one with a harder end-boss.
2. If it's thought of as too hard, then, I say, "Good!" Tyrant should be as hard or harder than a Hamidon Raid since he's supposed to be that class of threat and power. But, as mentioned above, the STF, LRSF, ITF, BAF, Lambda, etc... were also complained as being too hard; and even before people got their hands on incarnate powers, players learned how to do them rather easily.
3. For a while, BAF and Lambda were the only sources of the two iXP types for their respective incarnate power trees. Same thing here. Sure, people didn't like that set-up previously, but this is nothing new. New content, new carrot to do it. This should not be surprising for an MMO. Besides, for those in the 'too hard' camp, the MagITrial is so incredibly easy to farm for it's unique iXP with the huge spawn fight up front... and that's exactly what folks are doing... just like they did with Lambda. -
Quote:PM Zwillinger with this info. There are several other buffs that have been reported as staying on indefinitely after zoning, some could be rather exploitative.3. Sometimes (perhaps always) when I zone with a hybrid power toggled on, the power remains on indefinitely (i.e., does not toggle off after two minutes) but does not grant any bonus either. Edit to clarify: It grants the passive bonus for having the power equipped, but not the bonus for having the power toggled on.

Quote:The lower his HP, the greater his Regen.I keep seeing a lot of different things tossed around. I have been in 5 groups and only the first one was successful and it had 51's and 52's in it...
So what gives? What causes his gigantic health spikes?
While the columns of light are up, the level difference between players and Tyrant is big... Purple Patch of Level Difference of Doom big. If you're not taking the columns of light down with the temp power right away, DPS goes way down allowing him to Regen.
I've also heard people say that each player-death heals him... but I don't know the veracity of that. But needless to say, death significantly lowers one's DPS, so, should be avoided. When a handful of people don't scatter at the "Air Crackles" warning and are hit with Lightning Columns, often stacked on each other... it's insta-death for them and a loss of DPS for the League. The death penalty is significant for this battle. Players really have never had to deal with significant death penalties before and have become too casual about being defeated.
The battles before Tyrant are relatively easy. Instructions to the League before start-up should be about the Tyrant battle and the instruction: "When you see the splash for beam, ignore it; when you see the splash for 'Air Crackles' RUN THE FREAK AWAY AND DON'T STOP TIL YOU KNOW YOU'RE NOT CAUGHT IN LIGHTNING." -
I've seen a Tyrant battle going nowhere fast until people finally learned to watch for the "Air Crackles" warning and run. If people run, that spreads out the lightning columns and you can jump back on Tyrant right away.
Also, death is a rather significant debuff to the damage you can put out.
Once they learned to dodge, Tyrant went down lickety split. But while a handful of players kept getting killed, Tyrant stood tall.

Quote:No, you're both wrong.Yeah, the numbers are slightly off. There were a few more vocal hardcore players complaining repeatedly that the trial was too easy.
Edit:
My feedback from Beta stands:
There were no 'hard core' elite demanding it be harder. The feedback was that it was too easy. And it was *demonstrably* too easy when Tyrant was easier to defeat than Black Swan. Numbers don't lie. And the number of seconds to defeat Tyrant was less than the number of seconds to defeat Black Swan.
And Black Swan isn't difficult at all.
It was empirically too easy for the second most powerful being in Praetoria. -
Another poor hack job of reporting.
You don't say 'slam' several times and then, almost as an afterthought, mention the fact that, being mostly empty space, there will be hardly any collisions. It would be like saying two marching bands, in which the players left a mile space between themselves, 'slammed' into each other as they marched through the same field from different directions.
It's like saying, "I'm going to slam my fight through this field of fire flies!"
