I agree with Eirc, Traps works well with most primaries. So pick a primary that brings what you want in terms of blast powers. Ice, Dark and Energy will add to the survivability of Traps (each in their own way). Sonic and Rad will stack with Acid Mortar. Fire, Archery and Assault Rifle all bring plenty of damage to the table.
The only one that probably isn't a great choice is Electrical; endurance drain is an all or nothing form of mitigation that doesn't stack with anything in traps. You could make it work, but you'll probably get better results with a different primary. -
And realistically most of them probably won't get upset. In the unlikely event that the devs fix it I'll respec my scrapper and move on with my life. At this point the bug has been around so long with so little communication from the devs that as far as I'm concerned it's grandfathered in until and unless the devs decide differently.
-
In other words it is technically an exploit but the devs aren't going to ban people over it (witness the fact that any thread in the scrapper forum about shield defense mentions membranes in AD sooner or later). Eventually the devs may fix it but it is probably a LOT of work for something that people are either going to say "meh" or get upset.

If he'd said "I won't play Demon Summoning because I feel it is too restrictive with regards to character theme" then I would've been fine with it. My problem with his comment was that he basically insulted everyone who does want to play demon summoning and everyone who has a demon possessed character. Sure some themes are done to death, heck Power Armored super heroes are a dime a dozen and yet two-thirds of my heroes wear power armor. Maybe it does mean I'm uncreative with themes but at the same time I like power armor as a source of super powers so I tend to gravitate towards the theme. He insulted a large group of people in his post and so I called him on it.

Quote:Agreed, I'd much rather see powers like Alkaloid used proactively instead of re-actively when appropriate.Coming Storm (OP) from what the experts here are telling you, don't feel bad because someone says a poison user phails at a role that isn't really the poison users role. Not using the debuffs is what really is teh suk. Also, don't forget that alkaloid makes a good resistance buff against toxic attacks like snakes and arachnos toxic tarantulas. I wouldn't suggest spamming it, but alkaloid on your guy taking the alpha could make a significant difference.

Quote:Correct (both about Hasten and the limit on four pools). The four pool limit does not include your epic pool so you can take four pools plus the epic.Is that in the Super Speed pool? Haven't given that much thought, I have thought about taking some of the teleport powers, so that means I'd be juggling trying to take things from at least 3 pools.... I've seen the comment that says I can have up to 4 pools.... does that include ancillary? I was also thinking about a couple of the powers from fitness so that is 4 pools to juggle (super speed, flight, teleport and fitness :S)

Well Blizzard is a nuke so you don't have it up that often, it is good AoE damage but it's not something you can use every spawn. Damage-wise Ice Storm is worse than Full Auto, they are both on 60 second recharges and deal about the same damage but Ice Storm requires the enemy to stay in the patch for the entire duration (although Ice Storm is a nice debuff while Full Auto is only damage). Frost Breath does slightly less damage than Flamethrower and it activates slower, but it deals the damage upfront rather than as a DoT, I'd consider these two about equal. Assault Rifle has two other AoEs (Buckshot and M30) while Ice Blast doesn't have any more.

That's because it is pretty much a law of the universe. ALL companies (or at least all companies with any common sense) do at least some internal testing before inviting in outside testers. Even if the devs never actually say it they are going to do "friends & family" testing before inviting in fans.

Yes you should, it sounds like a bug of some sort.

Quote:Well, now I want to make a demon posessed character just to piss you off. Except I can't because all of my characters are tech origin and wear power armor. Ok, I could make it demon possessed power armor but I don't really want to.Thats easy....... Demon Summoning.
"EWWWW look at me, look how dark I am.... now I dont even have to be creative and make up a TOTALLY original backstory to somehow make every single set in the game somehow revolve around being demon possessed. (yes even robots)."
Seriously all you guys playing the "im a demon possessed guy" toons. YOU ARE SOOOO LAME.
Its easily the most common backstory in the history of this game lol. I once formed a pickup group and NO JOKE 5 out 8 people on the team were either a demon, possessed by a demon, or made a deal with one.
S T U P I D.
/end rant
You really need to learn to relax. Some people like particular types of heroes. Demon summoning is a popular origin but so are Catgirls, Power Armor users, and to many others to list. Just because other people do it is no reason not to do it yourself. -

Correct, the only reason to slot it in VS if if you want the AoE Def bonus from fully slotting Call to Arms (and if I was doing that I'd probably got for Expedient Reinforcement for the ranged defense on a blaster anyway).

I dislike sets that are heavy on single target ally buffs. I'm a Blaster/Scrapper at heart and my general plan is along the lines of "damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" so I'm not comfortable with powers that require me to focus and target allies instead of enemies.

Quote:In general I agree, Empathy isn't a great set, it's a good set but not great. However the thing to consider is that for most other buff sets stacking them is additive. Having two of the same set is only twice as good as having one (and for some sets even less). The nature of Empathy means that two Empaths are significantly more than twice as powerful as one.It still doesn't change the fact that for the majority of the game Emp is just meh. I'm sure there are similar situations in which the rest of the powersets shine while still being more 'special' than Emp like Dark turning the user into a controller while flooring to hit and giving -res while Kin caps group damage and makes AVs hit like kittens. So you need 2 Emps in a group to even notice a wow factor from them, which kinda proves my point.

That's the thing, allowing us to select the music for arc from the in-game selection is one thing. Allowing us to upload mp3s is not really practical from a legal perspective.

Quote:One thing to keep in mind is that Taunt acts as a multiplier to the hatred generated by an attack, so having the taunt aura means that your AoE attacks will generate a lot more hatred than they would otherwise.yes, i stand corrected, the toggle does have a +400% taunt on target, but how i consider it useless because its an 8 ft radius and does not host any kind of effects other than the taunt, so its prolly THE worst taunt aura a brute could have and thus does little to nothing in an actual fight when you are on a team.
from my experience playing on teams with the sr, this little taunt aura does NOTHING if im not dmging the enemies, and if someone attacks an enemy in the taunt aura, it will not hold the aggro of the enemy unless you attack them first, a pbaoe attack will hold the taunt better than this toggle will. -
Actually taunt-wise AAO is slightly better than most of the Taunt Auras. Like Invincibility it has a 16.875s base duration rather than the 13.5s base duration all other sets (except willpower) have. I assume the intent is make up for the fact that all of the other taunt auras (except willpower) either do damage (thereby increasing aggro) or have a control effect (making it harder for enemies to leave the aura).

Quote:Well, despite not seeing the ad, I already know exactly which "game" it's for .I have to admit, in researching this, I ran across an extremely amusing ad. I won't name who it's for because I don't want to help that company, but it shows a kneeling scantily-clad woman, her hands bound in chains to a tree above her head as she struggles to get free. Creepiness factor aside, there are two quotes alongside the animated image: "'Awesomely deep character skills...' --SomethingAwful Forums," and "'Best Online RPG I have played...' --[censored name], [censored company] Player"

Actually the numbers do bear it out... for AoE at least. AR is one of the top blast sets for AoE damage, it is however one of the worst sets (or possibly THE worst) for single target damage since it lacks a proper 3rd blast and only has Ignite which while good is hampered by a long activation time and the need to root the enemy.

Yeah, I'm sure I'm far from the first person to do it, I just hadn't done the math before and was surprised at how good it was with just two Empaths working together.
