Does Hami +Def still work as -Def as well?

I am looking at ways to optimize my earth/storm and was trying to make the best use of two slots in quicksand.

An Enzyme would increase it's defdebuff but not its recharge. Would a Membrane increase its defdebuff as well as its recharge rate or has that long been fixed?

If it says buff, it is buff. If it says debuff, it is debuff.

/gignore @username is the best feature of this game. It's also probably the least used feature.

I recall a discussion around the whole hami slotting issue. The devs are aware of it, they know we are aware of it, it is too much work to change it, and their discussion of it didn't sound so much like an exploit as a pain in the butt.

That's my understanding as well. At some point if this bothers the devs enough they can close the loophole, but my guess is that it's on about page 25 of the to-do list and will never percolate to the top.

I think the original conversation revolved around getting around portions of the power system that didn't allow slotting but hamis allowed...so using a hami that does +def and end red for a power that did def debuff and end red wasn't that bad, but slotting a +def and +rech for a power that didn't allow for +rech was the issue.

"Slotting enhancements into powers they were not meant to be slottable in is an 'exploit.'"

In other words it is technically an exploit but the devs aren't going to ban people over it (witness the fact that any thread in the scrapper forum about shield defense mentions membranes in AD sooner or later). Eventually the devs may fix it but it is probably a LOT of work for something that people are either going to say "meh" or get upset.

The people would have no reason to get upset. I Say. FIX the exploit. I hate exploiters. THey should die.

And realistically most of them probably won't get upset. In the unlikely event that the devs fix it I'll respec my scrapper and move on with my life. At this point the bug has been around so long with so little communication from the devs that as far as I'm concerned it's grandfathered in until and unless the devs decide differently.

I won't care if they fix it, but while it's around (and it's been around a long time) and hasn't been decried by devs, I'll take advantage of it.

It's not an exploit. The dev's have allowed it to become a feature. See the statement by Posi that accompanied the release of the 4th anniversary calendar (if you can find it; it is magically no longer to be found anywhere on the boards or the coh site, but I'm sure someone has it if you ask around). Statement(s) by devs calling it an exploit (namely the one by Castle referenced on the wiki) predate this.
