Best option to go with /Traps?

I'm looking for a primary more PvE suited,Something that does decent damage , and is above all just fun to play. I've always wanted a /traps corr, but never really found a good mix with it. A little help would be appreciated, thanks guys.

As a lot of folks will tell you, Archery is a fun fit for Traps - both are 'natural' power sets that have a 'gadget' look instead of a 'superpower' look. I think Archery is a very good looking, smoothly animated set. The built in 15% accuracy bonus makes the set pretty reliable - you can get close to a 95% hit rate with only one high level accuracy enhancement. The set damage is probably about average, as far as I can tell, but it does have the bonus of being relatively low endurance - you can take assault for plus 15% damage without too bad of an endurance hit. Rain of Arrows is an excellent high level attack in that it's available far more often than any other nuke. Stunning Shot gives a solid way to negate a foe at high levels.

As much as I love archery I don't know if I would push it as the 'best' fit for /Traps. Archery/traps isn't a bad combo in any way, my current archery corruptor is /traps, but there isn't any real synergy between the two sets either.

If you are actually looking for something to synergize with traps I would think that dark would be a good choice - the -to hit in the attacks will stack with the def in FFG and the immobilize in TT will keep things locked in place so you can maximize the effectiveness of acid mortar. You might even be able to get some damage out of caltrops since the immobilize will prevent the mobs from fleeing off the caltrops patch. Seeker drones should stack stuns with dark pit to even stun bosses, if only for a short while.

I can't really think of another primary that will synergize MORE than dark - traps is such a jack of all trades that it will probably work about the same with all primaries.

I agree with Eirc, Traps works well with most primaries. So pick a primary that brings what you want in terms of blast powers. Ice, Dark and Energy will add to the survivability of Traps (each in their own way). Sonic and Rad will stack with Acid Mortar. Fire, Archery and Assault Rifle all bring plenty of damage to the table.

The only one that probably isn't a great choice is Electrical; endurance drain is an all or nothing form of mitigation that doesn't stack with anything in traps. You could make it work, but you'll probably get better results with a different primary.

Dark blast would be my top choice for /traps.

Like Eric said, the immob plus the -tohit is total win to combine with the mortar and FFG

throw in assault and you could deal out some decent dmg and still have a self heal later

As others have said, Traps will work great with just about any primary but I'd recommend Fire or Sonic above the rest.

Fire for huge ST and AoE damage to go with all your debuffs. Traps gives you a lot of safety with the FFG and the Seekers, so you can really cut loose with Fire.

Sonic gets an honourable mention for -res stacking to absolutely dismantle hard targets as well as the synergy of using Siren's Song to lay down a Trip Mine unmolested. Being able to leverage Trip Mine more easily makes up for the relatively weak AoE in Sonic.

As others have said, Fire, Ice, Sonic, Archery, Dark are all good picks for different reasons

I wouldnt recommend energy. I use it but only ST, AoE + KB = enemies positioned to go around your caltrops, enemies too dispersed to nail effectively with mortars, enemies out of the poison cloud, etc.

I would highly recommend fire. Utilizing the "heal" requires you to be stationary, so your traps are the only thing stopping exposure to fierce melee opponents, so killing them faster is better.

Sonic for AV killing and if lots of TF's. Fire for teaming a lot. Anything if solo will work well.

For concept, wait for dual pistols. Prepay and build one in March/April sometime. I think AR and archery go well with concept as well.

I have an Ice/traps, it is nice, only because caltrops and the AoEs slow everything plus two holds to stack on higher ups. but that is my opinion.
