    Would be worth considering.
That doesn't really strike me as a melee epic pool. Most of them are a mix of ranged attacks, control powers and self buffs or useless debuffs. Also AR itself doesn't get Aim so the epic probably shouldn't.

    I'd say:
    1) Burst (single target attack)
    2) Beanbag (single target stun)
    3) Buckshot (AoE cone w/ knockback)
    4) Sleep Grenade (AoE sleep)
    5) M30 Grenade (TAoE with knockback) or Flamethrower (Extreme DoT Cone)

All powers are drawn from Assault Rifle or Munitions Mastery. It's a mix of controls and ranged attacks but as with the Assault Rifle set itself it's heavy on the AoE attacks.

    Windows 7 or XP?

In that case you should go XP. Windows 7 adds a lot of new features but it is more resource intensive. One thing to watch for is the memory limits. If you have more than 2Gb of RAM you need something other than the basic version of either operating system and with more than 4Gbs you need the 64-bit version.
  3. My feeling on it is basically meh. It's got some decent powers but to me it really feels like a nerfed version of rad. Sure, it has more power against AVs and the like but against anything else there are better sets.

I just don't know why they put it in.
Because like most game companies they don't write their own forum software and the version they purchased came with a reputation feature (and presumably no easy way to disable it).
  5. On my Blaster it's Caltrops or Eye of the Magus

On my TA/A it's Emp Arrow (unless we're fighting robots in which case I use it more frequently for the damage).

My Warshade has Black Dwarf (or teleport if Black Dwarf is already on)

    To lazy to list more

Wow... what a useful and insightful post.

Personally I didn't have any real trouble leveling my TA/A. Since it is a debuffed focused set it actually solos reasonably well although the lack of alpha mitigation does make it harder to increase spawn sizes safely (not impossible but you have to be a bit careful). I never had any problems with finding groups om Virtue but you might have trouble if you play on Freedom.

I'm not sure where you get that idea. Damage enhancements increase the damage dealt by any power regardless of whether it's ranged, melee, or a tactical nuclear bombardment. In order to not benefit the melee attacks would need to be specifically tagged to ignore enhancements.

Yeah, I'm familiar with his modus operandi, the only reason he isn't on my ignore list is that I find his raging mildly amusing. At the same time, I'm incapable of seeing someone get insulted without calling the insulter on it.

Well according to your other thread you have the following defenders:
    Dark/Dark
    Sonic/Sonic
    Traps/Rad
    Storm/Elec
    Cold/Ice

Maybe you should actually TRY playing a Trick Arrow Defender before you make blanket insults against people who actually have significant experience with the set? Or at the very least explain why you know better than people who have experience playing the set.

I tend towards "meh" where proliferating Poison to other ATs is concerned. I have no objection to it but I don't see a whole lot of point. It doesn't really offer anything to them that other sets don't do better. With the exception of soloing a GM or AV I would much rather have Rad than Poison.
  10. Also check that you've got Java installed and enabled properly.
  11. I haven't seen anything on it from the devs but my suspicion is that it's probably very low on the list of sets. If you look at the lists of non-elemental sets available to the melee ATs the ones that are thematically finesse based tend to go to Scrappers and Stalkers while Tankers and Brutes get the less subtle sets. Obviously there are exceptions (Dual Blades and Claws). This isn't to say that the devs will never proliferate it to stalkers but I suspect that it will be one of the last ones done (alongside War Mace and Battle Axe).

Because some of Trick Arrows powers do seem.. tech based, lol
Well if you're a power gamer then you really want either Tech or Magic origin for your TA/A. Oil Slick Arrow is a very good power in Trick arrow but you need a source of fire or energy damage to light it. The only source that a TA/A has direct access to is Blazing Arrow which you don't really want to waste on lighting your OSA if you can help it. However both Tech and Magic origin characters get an inherent power that deals energy damage which makes for a convenient way to light your Oil Slick even at high levels (a useful trick is to setup a bind to target and light it in one click).
  14. The Going Rogue Expansion may not include a free month. The others with a free month are all intented for setting up a new account while GR is an expansion.

I suspect it's to make things a little more streamlined for new players. The EATs (particularly the Kheldians) introduce several new mechanics not found on other ATs. Throwing a brand new player in with trying to learn this AND learn the basic command and concepts of the game might be to much. Requiring people to unlock EATs at least means they've played a bit and understand the basics of the game before tacking on the EAT mechanics.

As for Defenders being over powered on a team? Not from where im standing.Id say more balanced would be the word your looking for.

Defenders offer the best of there combined worlds, or power sets, and can be played beautifully in the hands of a compitent player. Most times, this is not the case.
Nope I said overpowered and I meant it. A team of 8 defenders makes a joke out of most content in the game. The only things that come close are teams of Corruptors, Controllers and Masterminds. Buffs and debuffs in this game are so ludicrously overpowered that just two or three characters with buff sets are often enough to make a team into gods and Defenders get the best buffs.
  17. Although the boost will only last the remaining duration of soul Drain. If the Mine goes off after that ti will only do the unboosted damage.
  18. I don't get how you manage to find such a high percentage of idiots when looking for teams. I've never been kicked from or refused a team for not being a healer and my Defenders are a TA/A and a Traps/AR.

But yeah Defenders in general are overpowered in a team setting, some more than most.

To be honest, iv only ever seen 1 good Empathy Defender in the entire game since iv played from the release of CoV.(Vet player, new account.)

What made this guy a good Empathy, is that he acctually attacked, and made sure people knew he was "Off Support", like how people mention they are "Off Tankers", and gladdly fired off a heal here and there when it was needed, but was even more glad to fire off his Electrical Blasts that helped alot in damage, and Sapping mobs.
An Empath attacking is not "off-support" they are a Defender. An Empath who doesn't attack is a "half-Defender". Calling an Empath who attacks "off-support" implies that they are less of an Empath than one who doesn't attack while in fact they are more. Or to quote the Starship Troopers movie: I only have one rule. Everyone fights. No one quits.

Personally I don't consider whether an Empath attacks to be the yardstick of whether they are good or not. I consider attacking to be a sign that they are capable of realizing that this isn't WoW. The difference between a poor Empath and a good Empath is not whether they attack (since this should be a given) or how fast they are on the heals. It is in how well they utilize the buffs. Empathy has two VERY powerful buffs (Fortitude and Adrenalin Boost) but since they are single target the skill lies in identifying who will benefit the most from them.

What really, really pisses me off is Empaths who use Adrenalin Boost solely as a recovery buff. I've seen to many Empaths who either don't use it at all or save it for after someone nukes and need recovery. Pro tip: that is what Catch a Breath inspirations are for. I was on a TF with an Empath like that once (playing my TA/A). I started using EMP Arrow at almost every opportunity not because we needed the hold but because I noticed that when I did the Empath would see my low endurance and run over to cast Adrenalin Boost on me which meant more Oil Slick goodness (amongst other things). Sure I could've talked to him but I'd already had an argument with him about Defenders attacking and I wasn't in the mood for another.
  19. It depends a lot on what you want to do, personally I would say that 33 is the "optimal" in terms of being better than SOs but keeping bonuses when exemplering down to a multiple of 5 (which most TFs do). If you run the Moofire TF a lot then 30/31s are better.

That being said the enhancement supply in the mid-levels tends to be pretty low so I'd recommend taking the 30-33 range when possible or the 34-38 range if you can't get it in 30-33.

I only have one rule. Everyone fights. No one quits. (translated: I will turn you away if you're a pure healer but that's about it).
  21. Trying to make the updater behave like a torrent would be a lot of work and would piss off a lot of people due to potential security holes.

Having a second distribution channel hosted through torrents is more practical but it would require a larger download since the devs would need to include an installer for the patch with the download.
  22. It has been discussed many times and the basic answer is that although a lot of people won't care and will continue to play the characters that they know and love there will probably be a drop in the popularity of some ATs.

The one this is most likely to happen with is the Defender. While Corruptor buffs are worse they aren't much worse and the extra damage (mostly from scourge) makes soloing a lot easier. People aren't going to start turning Defenders away from teams or anything stupid like that but it is likely that people starting a new character will choose a Corruptor over a Defender.

Tankers are already a dying breed since IOs and buffs make it easy for a team to manage without one.

Scrapper and Brutes are virtually interchangeable in a team setting although admittedly once you get beyond two brutes they can run into problems building fury.

Blasters and Controllers will probably still retain their current popularity. Neither has a direct Red side equivalent since Dominators can't buff and nobody deals out the AoE damage like a blaster.

Right, if you update your current installation (i.e. run the updater) that include CoV so you don't need to install anything else. If you can log in and play CoH then you can log in and play CoV there is no way to play one without having th eability ot play the other.
  24. You need a total of 300% recharge to get perma-heatloss (that is the stuff slotted in the power plus global). So if you slot it with 95% recharge then 206% should give you perma-heatloss. I'm not sure why it didn't, perhaps they only had two recharge enhancers in the power itself?

CoH and CoV are a single game, there is no ability to only install one you automatically get both.
