COH editions - Is this everything?
Since my local distributor has decided that they are not going to sell Going Rogue (and they don't sell the super boosters or have sold any version of COH since Good vs. Evil, really) I'm making a list of everything I missed to see if I can Western-Union someone in the US to "complete" my account. I'd rather do it all in one go when the GR complete version preorder becomes available in two weeks, so here's what I'm looking at:
I have: * COH DVD Edition (VIP badge) * COV Collectors Edition * Good vs. Evil Edition (Pocket D porter) * Wedding Pack I need: * Going Rogue Complete Edition - $40 (includes free month?) * Architect Edition - $20 (includes free month and Cyborg pack) * Mac Edition - $20 (includes free month and Valkyrie pack) * Super Booster: Magic - $10 * Super Booster: Science - $10 * Super Booster: Martial Arts - $10 So that's $110 total and it includes 3 months. Am I right? Anything I missed? |
Note: You don't NEED it. But if you WANT to have absolutely everything in the game...
Note: I don't know that you can buy the boosters off a shelf anywhere. AFAIK they're only available from the online store which immediately applies them to your NCSoft account.
The Going Rogue Expansion may not include a free month. The others with a free month are all intented for setting up a new account while GR is an expansion.

Leo, how come it doesn't let you purchase them from the site?
GR should have a free month with it as well. Even though it's an "expansion", it's still a stand-alone retail box, all of which come with a free month... IE.. a new player could buy GR and set up an account with it.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
There was also a super booster Cyborg pack ( the "tech" themed set). And I assume there will be a mutant booster pack before too long.

Oh yeah.. and then costume code perks from live events, but those would have to be obtained from e-bay or something. lol
On a side note, I wish they would be more specific on the Game Account page, cause I can't remember if I bought the Mac pack or the AE pack, or even both. All it says is "Retail" on the page.

According to the MMORPG.Com article about I17 and GR:
The Going Rogue "Complete Edition" has also been announced, featuring both City of Heroes & City of Villains, 30 days of game time, and the "Complete Collection Item Pack," which contains Alpha and Omega costume sets and auras, four stance emotes, and The Shadowy Presence invisibility power. |

Hot dog, I just blew past that article since it didn't seem to have anything new in it. Sure, things can change...but nice find, Kheldarn!

That particular one though is pretty easy.
If you have access to the Valkyrie outfits then you've got the mac pack code used.
And the only thing the AE code is good for would be a $5.00 super-booster (after taking the free month into account) (assuming you don't already have them both). There's nothing special unlocked via the AE code itself.
6000+ levels gained and 8 level 50's
Hello, my name is Soulwind and I have Alt-Itis.
I agree that a little more detail on the codes applied to your account would be good.

I know I bought quite a few of the add-ons myself, so I don't know if I got that one as freebie for the Mac edition or paid the 9.99 for the pack. All I know is that I have only one "Retail" added during that time period, but I don't know which one it was. I think I might have even bought both of them already, but it wouldn't make sense for one of them to show up as one of the "Perk" items. lol
Then again, I think the only pack I'm missing is the Science pack, which isn't eligible as a freebie anyway, right? So nevermind. lol

I dunno if someone in North America (me, for example) could buy one of them and let someone else apply it to an account that's not mine.

It doesn't apply the code immediately but I think it's already associated with your account at that point, right? You just need to select it and tell it which account to apply it to (if you have more than one).

This means that if Leo can't access that part of the site himself, he'd have to give somebody his username/password to do it for him, which is never recommended.
That's the thing... the Valkyrie stuff is available separately too. Basically, I was going to buy the AE edition to get the extra pack for lower overall cost, but I don't remember if I already did. lol

Cyborg : Self Destruct
Valkyrie Pack: Mission Transporter
Magic: Mystic Fortune
Science: Was access to the Super-Tailor
Martial Arts: Ninja Run
The Mission Architect Edition gave you access to either Cyborg or Magic.
Check your inherents/temp powers.

Because of the non-detail in the Account Details, I can only assume I bought the packs separately, or that one of the Retail codes I bought is incorrectly showing as a Perk instead. This is why it would be nice to have the item names updated.
I know which Packs I have, and I know which powers/items come from each one, but that doesn't necessarily mean I bought a specific Retail copy or not. I wanted to buy AE Retail to get a discounted pack, but I didn't know if I already bought it or not.. but since it turns out I already have both eligible items anyway, it wouldn't make much sense to bother with it anyway now.

The Valkyrie costume items and Mission Teleporter are only available in the Mac Pack.
Now, there are two versions of the Mac Pack:
One that allows a new game account set up with a month of time, along with the costume items and Mision TP;
And one that just has the extra items.
I guess the question here is, is it possible to get both the full game Mac pack AND the separate item Mac Pack; or does having one preclude having the other?
Bottom line, though, is that the Valkyrie costume and Mission TP are from the Mac Pack.

North American version includes: North/South America, Australia and New Zealand |
From what I remember, it is the only retailer that people were able to buy the Mac versions from outside the NCsoft store. Given that the important part isn't the download:

My situation was originally regarding the AE Retail package that comes with a free item pack, but because of the way the Account Detail is listed, there was no way to tell if I had purchased it already or not. (that specific retail package)
Then, the whole idea became void anyway when I realized that I already had the only 2 item packages that are eligible with the AE package. The only reason Mac was brought up is because it's the only other retail version that came out, but my Account detail only shows ONE Retail added during that time frame, which doesn't make any sense. I more than likely bought both of them and took advantage of the "discounted" packs for each one, and had bought the other item pack separately beforehand.
My point was that somebody in a similar situation, but didn't already have both eligible packs, might try to buy AE to get the other one free/discounted, not remembering/realizing hey had already purchased it... because the Account Detail is not "detailed".
Thanks for trying though, and I do forgive you, but please.. I'd rather we not continue to Threadjack Leo.
Dang, this thread got long.
Leo, how come it doesn't let you purchase them from the site?
IP block. "Unfortunately, this item is not available for sale to your region from the NCsoft Store. We suggest you inquire with a local retailer to make your purchase."
This is probably done to avoid stepping in the toes of local distributors, but it backfired because the local distributor here doesn't sell squat.
AFAIK [the booster packs are] only available from the online store which immediately applies them to your NCSoft account.
This means that if Leo can't access that part of the site himself, he'd have to give somebody his username/password to do it for him, which is never recommended.
Yep, this is true. And you're absolutely right; it's never recommended. But I don't feel like I'm being given much choice here; if I want the Booster Packs, I have to get them through the NC store, and I can't access it myself. I could use a proxy server, but that feels several times more insecure than giving my login info to one person I trust.
Have you tried to order the Mac Edition from the other company, gametreeonline? They don't seem to have the initial Mac edition, but they do seem to have the Architect Edition, for all of the Americas.
I considered buying it from Steam, but that doesn't help me with the other editions or the booster packs. If I'm going to have someone else applying them to my account anyway, may as well do everything in one swoop.
I hope everything works out for you Leandro, and sorry that NCsoft still hasn't done anything about making sure that LevelUp!Games carries their entire CoH lineup.
It's actually Edusoft for Argentina; LevelUp! is for Brazil. Edusoft has not sold anything since the Good vs. Evil edition, and even that seems discontinued. The only reason I can get time cards from them is because they apply to Lineage II, the only NCsoft game they actually bother to promote and sell.

Got one from a w00tradio contest, one from a SI radio contest, two from Twitter and two from a thread in the forums.
Thanks for the replies, everybody!

Ah, so he did. I missed that.
I was wondering why no one else mentioned the omission. |
