Remove Melee Attacks from MM Bots

Probably been said before (nothing came up in search tho), but having MM Bots deal melee attacks, I feel, is one of the main causes for them to break BG mode, and make them run off and aggro mobs at a whim. It's also the cause of protector bots running into piles of mobs just to cast bubbles.

It's not. The A.I. itself is complicated and does wierd things. Ever noticed how Hellion Buckshots and the like still run into melee range? And yet they don't even have brawl?

Taking melee off the of the Assault Bot would certainly be a bad thing, as he can deal one hell of a punch. But I agree that the A.I. itself needs another pass, because it's still got some really bad screw ups in it.

I must disagree with the majority of your suggestion, the Battle Drones and Assault Bot are perfectly fine with melee attacks for the reason as they're the 'combat-style' henchmen who naturally should be able to deal as much damage as they are equipped to be. But as for Protector bots, I believe there is a kind of AI oversight regarding them, they have no melee attacks yet they run straight towards enemies with their ranged pulse cannons firing.

If anything, a change to Protector bots to stop them from getting into melee range of opponents would help clear the issue up a bit. Sure they have a pulse blast attack, but why the heck do they have to run up straight to the enemy to do so? Removing melee attacks from the Assault bot would be a bit odd, you'd think a huge-*** robot would try to use it's weight to pound the enemy into submission.

Should MM bots lose their melee attacks? No.
Should Protector bots learn to support their allies from a distance? Yes.

They can just as easily shoot point blank, which does just as much damage. I just think the removal would help towards simplifying the Bots overall AI.

Assuming that you can't slot for melee (Damage enhancements don't affect Melee attacks?). What would you suggest would replace the respective powers? More Pulse rifle blasts?

well assuming that the AI randomly chooses an attack type according to mob positioning (?), removing melee out of the list would mean it just uses one of its ranged attacks instead, without any loss of dps.

EDIT: Another issue it would probably fix is the "stay" command. IMO having a "stay" command assigned to a henchman that uses melee attacks, is not really functional, especially when mobs move around as much as they do, or run away for that matter

I'm not sure where you get that idea. Damage enhancements increase the damage dealt by any power regardless of whether it's ranged, melee, or a tactical nuclear bombardment. In order to not benefit the melee attacks would need to be specifically tagged to ignore enhancements.

YOu can make them attack, then tell them to follow you : D Then go around a cornder and the one guy will chase them. It just like a Blaster snipping, it doesn't work all the time but it can work : D
