  1. Rikti Homeworld zone(s) for your mid-to-high level side-switch morality changing missions, for when you get out of Praeroria level range. Calling it now.

Hey, a man can dream, can't he?
  2. Pretty much the same way I am with badges. I want to get them all. Why? Because they're there.
  3. There are plenty of types of villains which these words could apply to. Maybe your villain is the honorable their type... completely trustworthy, but only so far as they'll agree to. If you task them to do something and they accept, you can bet that they'll get it done.

Or maybe you're not playing the lone wolf villain, and are a soldier under another character or, getting into the actual setting, loyal to Arachnos and not actually intending to overthrow it or anything. There are those sorts, as well.

So no, I don't think that badge names should be changed just because they don't fit Villain Stereotype A... when they can still work for Villain Stereotype B.
  4. Just something I thought would be neat given the suggestion: If you use RoTP while you're still alive, it damages you (how much depends on balancing and math and all that sort of stuff I know nothing about). Just seems fitting to me... if you use it to rez it heals you, but of course you have to be dead for that to happen. If you use it purely as an attack power, it damages you.

The Phoenix is burned to death by it's own flames before it revives, after all. Perhaps there should be a special bonus if you manage to kill yourself with it (instant revive and double up the damage?)
  5. Mender Silos is the Nemesis from Rikti Earth.
  6. I'm just wondering where the heck people are getting these amazing copy/paste scripts! Given that the serials are in images (often with funky colors) designed to throw off captcha-reading scripts, they must be some pretty advanced stuff!

Though probably not all THAT useful, since everyone I know who's gotten a code (myself included) did it legitimately by typing it in. And believe me when I say I'm not the fastest typer in the world!

The whole notion that people are using scripts just sounds like "No! I should have won! They must have cheated somehow!" to me.
  7. I'm pretty used to quickly glancing at my buffs bar to see what I have on me already, so I haven't had any trouble adjusting to color changes. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me.

not to get bogged down in this silly derail, but threads have already shown swashbucklers, "v" style alien soldiers, monks of the four winds, mixed martial artists, wizards, Chinese soldiers, et cetera, with the new options but it certainly was not just "ninja"
I think people are just confusing the Ninja Run power (which is very ninja-y) with the costume pieces, weapons, and emotes (which aren't all that ninja-y).

An understandable mistake, given how freaking awesome and useful Ninja Run is.

This makes sense to me. If you play red side, your opinions are invalid and you should probably be ignored. Chances are you're a horrible poster and/or a troll.

If you play blue side, you're a stunning beacon of insight into the game, and your opinions should be revered and accepted without complaint. You're loved by the forums and the devs hang on your every word.

So yeah, makes sense to me. Villains = negative rep, Heroes = positive rep.

Which could mean anything, until you get to "but evil lurks to bring all down, The helmed one strikes with draining web, the war comes to a crucial head." Could the "draining web" mean anything other than the web weapon that's draped over Grandville, the one designed to funnel all of the world's super-powers into Lord Recluse? The "war" that comes to a "crucial head" is the cold war between the US and the Rogue Isles, which would truly be over if Lord Recluse were even more powerful than he is now and if the rest of the world had no superheroes to resist him.
It's referring to the entire issue. Issue 9: Breakthrough had both the Invention system and Statesman's Taskforce. Which would explain the "and the events of Breakthrough?" part of her analysis.

So yeah. She got it right.

Only if they stop at some point. If they continue going until the point the game eventually dies and the servers close (which hopefully won't be for a long, long time), then it'll be impossible to catch up.
  12. When it comes to the distinction between tech and natural, I usually consider if the character can perform the same actions without the specific weapon. For example, if I have a broadsword character, and I take away the sword... can the character do all the same things with a stick (not as effectively, of course), or is it something about that specific sword that grants the powers? (In this case it could be either magic or tech, depending on how I want to explain it).

Same sort of thing with guns. If my character can just pick up any random gun and still shoot as efficiently, then it's a natural ability. If a specific weapon is needed or it won't work, then it's technology.

So, my definition that if it's a character's natural ability, then it's a Natural origin. If it's an ability related to the weapon (or armor, or something else) that the character can't replicate on his own, then it's technology (or magic, or some other origin).

Batman, for example, is Natural. Sure, he has lots of neat toys... but take them all away, and he can still beat you into next week. If he were a Tech hero, then he'd be completely helpless without them.

That's how I see it, anyway.
  13. Is it some sort of a rule that we have to have this thread every time a new booster is released?
  14. Bought it. Always love more options, and I've always been a sucker for the booster packs. I'll probably get a lot more use out of the run power than I did the other ones (Self Destruct a close second, of course. It's still awesome).
  15. What I love about the original article is that StarTrek Online will apparently be Going Rogue's big competitor when it's released. And that it's a fight that GR can't possibly hope to win. I just find it amusing from a doom-crying perspective.

"Champions is going to come out, steal all of CoH's subscribers, and completely destroy it! DOOOOOOOOM!!!

    ...er... wait? CO fizzled?

StarTrek Online is going to come out, steal all of CoH Going Rogue's subscribers, and completely destroy it! DOOOOOOOOM!!!"

I don't think any actual screenshots are out yet (no official press release, the news was just for the fans so far). But at about 25 minutes into this video, they start doing some before/after comparisons of the current zones. You probably already saw some of the pictures, but it's a lot more impression to see it in motion (and the crowd reactions really sell it )

So if you want before/after images, there's that...
  17. How many missions even have at least 10 glowies? I don't see that QoL improvement being at all useful if it's linked to the number of glowies... it has to be linked to the number of enemies remaining.

Which makes sense, really. It encourages clearing the map, as opposed to stealthing it. I can see the devs considering that a bonus to adding the QoL feature.
  18. BaB said that the doves wouldn't be in the player version of the powers, but I vote that Malta gunslingers get doves added to their arsenal. Just because.
  19. You can reset the choices by leaving and re-entering the zone. That said, it is a pain in the butt to have to do that until you get a mission you want to do.

I've seen it suggested that we have a button or something to reset the scanner/paper and get a new batch of missions, so we wouldn't have to jump back and forth all the time.

The minimum requirements are supposed to be mostly unchanged. The ultra graphical settings are just a new setting, and aren't required. If you can play CoH now, you should be able to play Going Rogue.
  21. Looking at the demon pics, I have to wonder if we're looking at the three summons (minion lieut and boss) or just one of the types (minions maybe) that actually changes and grows as you upgrade it...

    Get rid of rep

I've said it before in suggestions like this, but I guess I'll restate my stance. I don't really care for rep one way or the other. I ignore it, so it's not the issue. So in my mind, the only change removing rep would make is that these types of threads would stop popping up.

So I say get rid of it, just for the sake of clearing up some forum spam.
  23. I tend to list everything for 1 inf. I know there's a chance for a loss, but I really don't care. Since selling everything I don't need on the market has already made me wealthy beyond what I would ever need (I get millions for a high-demand rare regardless of if I list it for 1 or a million), so it's worked out well for me so far. Plus, I like the feeling that I'm helping to supply the market a bit.

So yeah. /unsigned. Working as intended.
  24. It's possible... but not likely. Actually, I think that GR MIGHT be a bit light on mid-level content. So that might be something they'll work on for the following patch. I forget the exact sources, but I've heard that Going Rogue will offer a lot of new engame content options, and will also be fixing/enhancing and building on a lot of the low level content. So if those are the two focuses, then the mid-levels might be a bit lacking.

    Could be wrong, though.

The Loyalty System ends November 15th, and the badges will be awarded within a week after that end date. So no one has the badge yet.

Further more, the player's account has to be "in good standing" to get access to the beta, so there are some people who meet the criteria who may still be excluded.
It may be handled like the CoV beta and be on a different test server (not the normal one), so people who don't check their email or accidentally send the invite to their spam folder may not even know when it starts.
Finally, even though it says that 60+ vets are the first people to get in, it doesn't say it's handled all in a single wave. Depending on how many people meet the criteria and how many people the devs want testing at the time, it may be split into waves. And of course we don't know how long the period between tier1 people and tier2 people being let in will be.

So all in all... no. Looking at someone's badge list doesn't give you a 100% accurate indication of whether they're in beta or not.
