A quick thought regarding forum Rep
Shouldn't the jelly beans be red and blue instead of red and green?

If the two colors were red and blue, I would probably make it a goal to turn my rep red since I enjoy redside. Still, a very interesting thought.
Nah.
Red for Stop (as in "Stop Trolling and start being reasonable and polite")
Green for Go/Continue (as in "Continue being decent to folks")
But then the in-between should be yellow in that case, rather than grey.
Gray rep is awesome. It's the forums way of saying that someone's opinion doesn't matter.

... but then, the devs DO hate villains ... ;-)

If you play blue side, you're a stunning beacon of insight into the game, and your opinions should be revered and accepted without complaint. You're loved by the forums and the devs hang on your every word.
So yeah, makes sense to me. Villains = negative rep, Heroes = positive rep.
I like this idea of villainous rep and heroic rep much more than negative and positive rep...
Forum cartel? What forum cartel?
Also, I think I've given out negative rep maybe 3 times, ever. And one of those was because je_saist's crusade against Windows was finally getting on my nerves.

Green is for sycophantic fanbois who make gushing posts to the devs and need each others love and support to convince themselves they're not as insular and narrow minded *** everyone thinks. Red is for: Dared to say something against the forum cartel, constant posters or suggest there is anything wrong with the game. Grey is for: **** you all. |
1) the person is popular
2) the person is helpful
3) the person is a rep farmer
Red rep is much simpler. People with red rep pretty consistently seem to be jerks. They just THINK they're daring/visionaries/nonconformists/etc.

Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

It would be great if they had this option:
When choosing the Hero skin: Positive rep appears blue, Negative rep appears red.
When choosing the Villain skin: Positive rep appears red, Negative rep appears blue.

Well said, mate, well said.
Kiss me.
It usually occurs to me that the sorts of people who have rep disabled are the ones who would have tons of negative rep.

*checks, certainly not negative.*
I just disapprove of the system, and if you check the comments when it came out (and since) I'm not the only one. Besides - *points to forum games* the rep-altering threads in there, among other places, make it even more pointless as an indicator of... well... *anything.*
So, mine's grey.
I'm curious now how many jellybeans I have... I think I'm gonna turn my rep on again for a bit. We'll see what a couple months of "total anonymity" have done to my rep score.
Huh... no change. Bummer. Stupid high rep.
You know, Westley, when I see your avatar, I'm torn. On the one hand, it needs some sound to really appreciate that line. On the other, imagine an entire page of yelling avatars.
I like the idea of people choosing their own +rep color, since no one has any neg rep anyway.

I have rep disabled because it's worthless and a fairly dumb game.

Yeah, overall this positive/negative rep, thumbs up/thumbs down, good comment/bad comment stuff is dumb as hell. Youtube and Gametrailers have it for example.
Some people take it to heart and don't post a comment that doesn't contain praise, because they're so afraid of getting negative points or something.
I don't care myself, but if there's ability to disable it (like in youtube when you upload a video) then I will.
Funge it, I say.
Meh, as long as I get to green rep PK once in a while, I'm content.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
