    Taunt, autohit?

Did I ask this wrong? What I meant to ask is if the Tank power taunt needs an accuracy enhancer in it? If it is autohit then no.....

But since you did all the work and responded I will read this as soon as I get my desk cleaned from some work so people dont start screaming at me :-)
In PvE, Taunt is autohit against everything, yes. The only enemies that it will not affect are those that are for some reason un-affectable, such as those that are phased. Taunt only needs Acc for PvP purposes.

Also as a side note, there are some enemies that are resistant to Taunt effects, which will lower the duration of the Taunt effect on them. Nemesis, for example, are resistant to Taunt effects.

    Hello im new

Still, Scrappers, Tankers, and Blasters were all soloing back then, with no problems. Even some Defenders and Controllers could do it, just slower.

You still didn't take into consideration some of the comments from your other thread on this.

Gymnastics provides twice the defensive buff as Combat Jumping or Hover does, and still offers more on top of that.

Equilibrium is less than half as effective as Acrobatics, and offers nothing else with it, either. It's a useless power, equivalent to a single IO.

Spin Kick just seems like a filler power.

And Swinging itself is the exact same thing as Super Jump, just the opposite arc.

This whole power pool just seems like power customization to get the arc changed on super jump.

Radio missions came out since you left the game. Basically, when you go to an city zone for the first time, at level 5 or beyond, you will get introduced to either a Detective (hero-side) or Broker (villain-side). They will give you access to either the Police Radio (h-s) or Newspaper (v-s). These will appear at the top of your contact list.

If you are in a zone appropriate for your level (for instance, King's Row for levels 5-10), then you can click on them, and it will auto-generate three fairly generic missions that you can pick from. They tend to be shorter missions, and aren't tied to anything else, but are ALWAYS in the zone that you're in, so that can cut down on travel time.
  5. Well, first off, welcome back, and welcome to the forums!

Secondly, you may want to ask down in the Brutes forum for some help. They tend to be more familiar with the kind of slotting and powers that you'll want on a Brute-specific character.

Secondly, you'll want to let them know what exactly you'll want to do with this Brute. What do you want to be able to stand up to? What do you want to be killing? What will your difficulty settings be for your missions? What problems are you having with your Brute now? Giving us some details about what you want will help us to give you good information for where you want to go.

Secondly, you may want to take a look around for Mid's Hero Builder. It's a great tool that will let you plan out a build. You can even export your build from it, and get feedback on it from other poster's here.

Just FYI: for most of the rest of the group, it wasn't. Which is one of the reasons that it was changed.

Probably a good idea to start a new character anyways, to learn to play the game from scratch again. Scrappers are always good, easy characters to learn on, with basically any combo. Also, if you wanted to check out City of Villains (which you have access to, now, for free), you could try Brutes, which share many of the same sets with Tankers, but play more like Scrappers.

Anyway, i have a lvl 32 fire/ice tanker, and back then i only remember of putting down that icey slippery thing and turning up my aoe and killing everything by myself , did this thing changed? Also i remeber one thing i hated was running low on end and having to pick up stamina(or some other power i cant recall the name) in every single toon, its that still true?
Well, the tactic still works, but only to a degree. There have been a lot of changes to the game since you've been gone, including the Global Defense Nerf (GDN), Enhancement Diversification (ED), and the target caps. As such, your Ice Patch will only affect five enemies at once. Your burn patch will affect up to 10, but will cause the enemies to run. Since Ice Patch is only affecting five enemies, this means that 5 of your targets might run out of the burn patch.

It is still effective, just not as much as you might remember.

Also, you have an Aggro cap now, meaning that at any one time, you can only have up to 17 enemies focused on you. So, no more herding up whole maps and burning them at once.

You CAN pick Stamina on every toon. Is it required? No. Is it still very useful? Yes. Very yes.

Edit -> Also, two things that you should read up on, in addition to ED: ParagonWiki is a great resource that you might find useful, and while you're there, check up on Inventions.

Well, that was only one of the reasons that Ice Melee was taken from Brutes. The other was that it sucked. Remember, I6 came out before Ice Melee got it's buffs. So it had low single-target damage, next to no AoE damage, and the soft controls that it did have and specialized in hindered Fury pretty well.

Well, that is likely just one of the problems this person is seeing.

Right now, it is early morning in most of the U.S. As such, people here are either likely sleeping, at school, or at work. So they're not likely to be playing.

Also, Galaxy City isn't as used as Atlas Park, so you will see fewer players there. If you're unfamiliar with the team search tool, you might not notice that when you bring it up, it defaults to finding players in your active zone (at least if I recall correctly). So, if there are no players in galaxy City, it won't show anybody else that might be on. Fidget with the search options, and then re-search, and it should bring up more players.

    Welcome to the game!

    Just Came Back

    First off, welcome back.

    A few things:

    1) The game is in-between issues right now, with a decent amount of people in the closed beta for issue 17. Still, population hasn't been that far below average that I've seen. What time were you on?

    2) The help channel now uses the /hc channel identifier, instead of just /h. It seems like the way you go through the process to get there hasn't been updated to reflect that.

Still, if you need in-game help, use the channel identifier hc, not h.
  11. Yup, next time bring lots and lots of purples. She can't hold you if she can't hit you.
  12. I like the basic premise, though I don't necessarily agree that it should be a booster pack, just the costume items.

However, you do know that scimitars and khopeshes are in the game now, right?
  13. The pre-purchase will get you all of GR, including getting DP and DS early.

The $40 purchase is for the complete edition, which will come with a few perks, but is not available for pre-purchase.

Well, it was pretty much agreed that Ice Melee needed a change. Our fighting typically tended to be about HOW it should change, which made it so that our conversations were pretty cordial and on track.
  15. Or, you could create characters on the other servers, where names are apparently more plentiful.

Now *that* would be nice for a tanker set and maybe brute.

Otherwise, I'm w/Silverado as being decidedly underwhelmed atm.
Me? I'm betting that the set's animations get faster the more you attack. Maybe recharge too.

Kind of slow attacks at the beginning, then you get faster and faster as combat goes on.
  17. Definitely check out the Tech Issues and Bugs forum for this kind of thing. Those guys know more of this kind of thing than us.

However, I highly doubt that it is CoH that is doing this, and more that your Graphics Card has gone kablooie.

    A 3D Option?

To make things closer to the camera appear further from the screen, you would have to analyze their distance from the camera and offset those things a different amount than things further away. Either way, it's client-side only.

I don't know specifically how other 3D effects are achieved.

But no matter what, it seems like a silly idea.
Sorry for the confusion. I know how the 3D is done, was more asking how this game would do it.

  20. Well, it could be the Taunt Duration.

AAO scales up in duration as you level. It's 13.5 seconds at level 50, but tends to be much shorter in the lower levels. At that low of a level, other sources of aggro could peel things off of you. However, that shouldn't happen if they aren't currently fighting the enemy in question.

That being said: clockwork seem to operate a little...differently. Their sight aggro seems to be a big factor for them, and while most of the time I tend to see them following the normal Threat rules, I have seen them break them many times. I've never been able to duplicate the scenarios though, so I don't know if it's just a glitch in their AI, or something else.

Except, how is this done? If it's done server side, then the game has to send you both sets of visual data, which will likely cause a lot of lag, even if you're not using the option.

If it's done client-side, then it might mess with people who play in windowed mode.

I do like the puzzle idea, one of the things I thought about putting into a list but I tried something like this in MA and people were upset they had to travel all over a 3 level office map to complete a mission. The other thing was I would like to be able to have the choice (per room/floor) of absolute object/mob placement or standard placement; this would make for better 'puzzle' creation.

I was also thinking of speed missions; most timed missions give you so much time to complete them I wonder why they bother to put a timer on them at all. "You have 5 mins to get this task done. Period"

More 'relay' missions (like the PvP Patrol missions)

Word puzzle missions that are a Hybrid between Darrin Wade's 'get the password/give to Ashley' type mishes and the Ashley McKnight 'talk to everybody and their dog' type missions (including reading plaques to find clues)

    Scavanger hunt missions.

Timed 'find this X' non-instanced missions.

    etc
First off, you have the wrong definition of what the Suggestions forum is about. It isn't about Brainstorming, though it can be. It's about seeing whether suggestions are any good or not. If they can't stand a little criticism, then they tend to be bad ideas.

There is one timed mission that only gives you 5 minutes to do it. It's actually designed so that you fail it (of course, this is in the 32+ game, so maybe you've missed it). Most people think that it's annoying, not great. Mostly because the time limit is too short that it becomes stressful to try to succeed (which you actually can't do, if you read the mission text), and people play a game to avoid stress, usually.

Now, certainly the timed missions give you a lot of time to complete them. However, that is for good reason: you don't know what anyone else is doing behind the screen that might also take them some time. Also, you don't know how good their load times are. My old computer was very bad at loading, and took forever. If you gave me a 5-minute timed mission, I'd just skip it on that computer, since I know that I would likely get in the mission with a minute left, leaving me no time to actually do anything. Also, what if I need to do laundry, or cook dinner, or someone comes to the door and it takes a while? Then having some extra time can be a good thing.

They tend to be timed so that you can't farm them, at least in the upper levels, too.

Word Puzzle missions are kinda cool, until one person does them, and posts the results on the forums. Then everybody can find out the answer without undergoing the steps that you might set out for them. Then what? They become boring just like everything else. I've pretty much memorized the answer for access to the Midnighter's Club. I don't really need to do any missions to get the password, just to be allowed a chance to say it.

Now, scavenger hunt missions might be okay. But here's the catch there: if you get one of those, and it takes you a decent time to find something, then you are progressing slower, and it becomes even more of a 'grind' to get to the next level. So what do you do there?

Except, this is so broad that it doesn't mean anything. You're basically throwing out that you don't like the current ice cream flavors, and telling us to make you new flavors, but offer nothing along the lines of what you'd like to see the new flavor be.

"Give me different things to do" isn't good enough, in this case. Make a list of specific things that you'd like. Right now, they can make all of the new missions that you might like (of course, the MA might help you out there), but without any more specifics, they're going to be pretty much the same as what we have now.

    I stated that 30 to 50 is a grind.
For you, it may be. It is not for me. It is only a grind if you let it be.

    Quote:
I implied there's less incentive in the 32-50 game than there is in the 1-32 game.
Implying it doesn't make it true. I think that there is just as much incentive in the level 32-50 content as there is at the lower levels. You're getting your top-tier powers, ancillary pools if you want them, more slots so that you can finally 6-slot the powers that need them, and fighting more challenging enemies. That's enough incentive for me. It's certainly not less than there was in the early game (especially since for a lot of those levels, you're gaining 'standard' powers such as travel powers and the fitness pool).
