Difficulty settings have been expanded and clarified.

You can choose at what level your missions spawn at, from -1, +0, +1, +2, +3, or +4.

If the mission is a level 10, that means you can have bad guys in it at Level 9, or Level 14, or anything inbetween. Note that the base level is the level of the mission, not your current level.

The second number is your team equivalent. No more fillers! If you can handle a mission meant for a full team by yourself, then set to x8! Your actual team size will overrule this setting, if it is larger.

You can also choose to fight LTs instead of bosses when solo, and choose to fight EBs as AVs even when your team size wouldn't warrant it.

You can change your settings as often as you like, for free.

These settings are currently disabled for Task Forces and Trials.

Check out www.paragonwiki for full details, or chat with a Hero Corps Rep or Fateweaver.

Since you've returned recently, check out "SuperSidekicking" at www.paragonwiki.com as well. It's a great feature.

It's about the difficulty changes... You can adjust your difficulty so that you will generate spawns equivalent to +/- from your level as well as 1 to 8 team members. Also allowing for whether to fight Lt's or bosses when solo and if AV's scale down to EB's...

Oh.. it also doesn't cost any influence to make the changes now, either.

You can change difficulty by speaking to Hero Corps representative (Heroes) and Fortunata Fateweavers (Villains), which are marked on your map.

Weird, i don't recall that at all. It must have been before my time.

Well in the way back, before difficulty settings, some classes had real problems soloing missions. I remember my 8-14 controller not having any fun in a mission versus skull bosses. I seem to remember cursing the name Marrowsnap. I can also remember my defender having problems on occasion.

This was back in the day that debt started at level 5 and the debt cap was quite high. Scrappers and blasters were usually OK to solo due to their damage and tanks could simply survive due to their defenses and hit points.

Wow.. yeah, I remember hating Marrowsnap with every fiber of my being. Of course, soloing on pre-containment /FF controllers with no slotting wasn't exactly a walk in the park.

Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.

What Schismatrix said. I've been soloing my defenders since May 2004. Wasn't necessarily easy back then, but certainly was possible.

Yup, no veteran or origin attacks, no containment, soloing an ice/storm troller was no fun at lowish level.

Also no difficulty slider and a lot less content, so if you did solo, you completed every mission in the game for the level range, then had to streethunt 38-40 before you could get more missions.

Still, Scrappers, Tankers, and Blasters were all soloing back then, with no problems. Even some Defenders and Controllers could do it, just slower.

Actually, we could always solo things. Back then we weren't as smart as we are now.

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

WEll i think the difference is that the game is more balaced now, i remember that i could solo missions for 5 people by myself as fire/ice tanker by pressing two buttons .
Anyway i played a few hours today and got some final questions

-Whats the progression of the game? I was playing WoW and there he have 5 man dungeons then 10 mans and 25 mans, how does it works here? Also do you need certain AT for the groups? Like 1 tank 1 healer and 3 damage dealers

-After you reach the lvl cap what can you do? back then there was no items or this savages and recipes things, do you have to farm for then?

-Can you sell items to other players now? Like enhancements?

-Do PvP works nice in the game? I dont see PvP being discussed too much around here

The progression of this game is to have fun. That's it. There are no requirements for a team. 8 Defenders can really steamroll through the content if you want. A Tanker can make things easier sometimes, but they are not required, either.

Unlike WoW, this game doesn't begin at the level cap. There is stuff to do at all levels. At level 50, you can do a couple of raids; all of the Task Forces, including the end-game ones; you can go back and do any content that you missed, thanks to Ouroborus; you can PvP; you can try to get the best inventions possible for your character to use; or you can roll up a new character. All are viable alternatives.

Yes, through the Markets. Wentworths hero-side, Black Market villain-side. You can also sell recipes, salvage, and inspirations there. And, of course, try to buy what other people are selling.

You can check out the PvP forums here. There's probably a lot more discussion about it going on in there. I'll leave it to them to explain PvP right now, since I'm no expert on that by a long shot.

I've participated in several All-Defender STFs (Statesman Task Force), one of the most difficult TFs in the game (hero side). I think I died less in those that on "balanced" teams.

This includes just ignoring Lord Recluse (well, after casting your debuffs on him if you had any) instead of the typical Tank and healer pair trying to keep him occupied while everyone else tries to take down his super-buffing towers. Lord Recluse can pretty much one shot anyone other than a Stone Tank (well actually 2-shot since there's the no-1-shot death mechanism currently in the game). There were a few individual deaths, but no team wipes.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

This is true, mostly. They put that in after you left.

You can get hit by Ruladek the Strong for 10,000 HP and [like falling] you'll still have one HP left.

However, if you get hit by some super-Rikti doing 5000 smashing and 5000 energy, you're out of luck.

Actually, I think as long as it is in one "dose" the code works. So something with mixed damage will still leave you with 1 hp. It's dots that tend to get you.

This explains why my level 2 toon, when running across Perigrine Island for a Raptor Pack, survives a sniper shot worth 1200.

I wondered. But it's happened so much I figured there was some pity "last breath" coded in.
