So, i stoped playing this game in 2005, and for some reason today i woke up and remembered my account info
Anyway, i have a lvl 32 fire/ice tanker, and back then i only remember of putting down that icey slippery thing and turning up my aoe and killing everything by myself , did this thing changed? Also i remeber one thing i hated was running low on end and having to pick up stamina(or some other power i cant recall the name) in every single toon, its that still true?

Well, the tactic still works, but only to a degree. There have been a lot of changes to the game since you've been gone, including the Global Defense Nerf (GDN), Enhancement Diversification (ED), and the target caps. As such, your Ice Patch will only affect five enemies at once. Your burn patch will affect up to 10, but will cause the enemies to run. Since Ice Patch is only affecting five enemies, this means that 5 of your targets might run out of the burn patch.

It is still effective, just not as much as you might remember.

Also, you have an Aggro cap now, meaning that at any one time, you can only have up to 17 enemies focused on you. So, no more herding up whole maps and burning them at once.

You CAN pick Stamina on every toon. Is it required? No. Is it still very useful? Yes. Very yes.

Edit -> Also, two things that you should read up on, in addition to ED: ParagonWiki is a great resource that you might find useful, and while you're there, check up on Inventions.

Just FYI: for most of the rest of the group, it wasn't. Which is one of the reasons that it was changed.

Probably a good idea to start a new character anyways, to learn to play the game from scratch again. Scrappers are always good, easy characters to learn on, with basically any combo. Also, if you wanted to check out City of Villains (which you have access to, now, for free), you could try Brutes, which share many of the same sets with Tankers, but play more like Scrappers.

Yeah, it wasnt fun for the others
Anyway, how its the game right now? leveling is still a pain? I remember you could only do missions in groups, solo was not an option.
And finding groups took forever.

Leveling is easier than ever with the addition of Radio Missions, configurable mission options and Patrol XP. Teaming is not a problem for me on Virtue, but somewhat problematic on other servers, so it depends where you are.

Personally, I think the game is much better now than it ever has been. True, some servers are pretty deserted, but there is still a lot of "arresting" going on. Soloing is always an option, but teaming isn't difficult if you know where to look.

Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Leveling has never been less of a pain. Patrol XP, XP curve smoothing, debt reductions...

Everyone can solo anything now, and you can set the difficulty for a virtual team size.

Anyone can team with anyone else and sidekicking is handled automatically. One level fifty can have 7 sidekicks. 8 level 40 characters can run a Positron task force and gain XP the whole time.

Where to now?

I forgot about that, I love that change. I ran a Citadel TF the other night on my 41 Blaster and was auto-exemped to 30 the whole time and got bubbles and bubbles of sweet XP. Love it!

Radio missions came out since you left the game. Basically, when you go to an city zone for the first time, at level 5 or beyond, you will get introduced to either a Detective (hero-side) or Broker (villain-side). They will give you access to either the Police Radio (h-s) or Newspaper (v-s). These will appear at the top of your contact list.

If you are in a zone appropriate for your level (for instance, King's Row for levels 5-10), then you can click on them, and it will auto-generate three fairly generic missions that you can pick from. They tend to be shorter missions, and aren't tied to anything else, but are ALWAYS in the zone that you're in, so that can cut down on travel time.

I too had a fire tank and took off five years, just came back a few months ago. Here's a few things to know:

--Burn was majorly nerfed. You can't just taunt everything next to you and then kill everything with it - it has a fear effect so stuff runs out of its radius now. Of course, with ice patch, you can still do some of that.

--There's a limit to the effect of enhancing one specific area of a power - after abotu an 80% boost, to say, damage, the effect of further enhancements is drastically scaled back, so you can't just put 6 damage SO's in Burn, for instance. Not sure if this happened before you left.

--Making up for this is the new Invention Origin (IO) enhancement system, whereby you can get enhancements that don't wear off at any level, and unique 'set' enhancements that can effect multiple parts of a power, and that together give global character bonuses if you have enough of the same set. Do a search for IOs and read up on this if you haven't already.

And yes, Stamina is still an integral game power.

Go to the field analyst (fateweaver for villains), blue icon, to change # of foes, level of foes, whether you want bosses/

Also, since no one has mentioned it, after doing a certain number of Radio/Paper missions (varies depending on level, but at lvl5 it's 3) you'll get access to a Safeguard (hero) or Mayhem (villain) mission.

For Safeguards, the general idea is to go to the bank and stop the robbery. At that point the mission completes and you get a countdown timer. Throughout the map, there will be a boss of a different faction than the rest. (For example, if a mayhem is filled with Hellions, you'd be looking for Skull Bone Daddies.) They will give you a "key" to sub mission (Stop the Arson, Stop the Jailbreak, etc). Completing these will give you more time on the map.

The big reason I mention Safeguards is because the first time you beat one per level range (5-9, 10-14, 15-19, etc) you'll get a temporary power. The first two (5-9, 10-14) are mini travel powers (flight pack, jump pack respectively). It's another little thing that can make travel on low level characters far less annoying/tedious.

I remember when messin' with Hydra in Perez Park was the thing to do. Good times.

Don't let yourself be too much troubled by the global defense nerf and ED. I stopped playing for a while myself about that time.

But since those dark times, Fire has also received a number of buffs, including shorter recharge on the self heal, that will make your life a bit easier. And your ice melee's single target damage has been improved as well, and it always had a lot of valuable control in it.

You should also acquaint yourself with the invention system. Certain invention sets such as Steadfast Protection, Karma, and Blessing of the Zephyr allow you to add knockback protection to a fire tanker. This avoids the need for Acrobatics. They can be pricey, but you can save up your reward merits that are now earned from running task forces and story arcs.

And welcome back to the game.
