An Update
.....
On the last sentence though, it seems hard to push past the divide. The only reason this debate is even happening right now, is a disagreement about whether people should be allowed to hope that CoH may have a future. |
It's like believing that Twinkies will be with us forever, then finding out that nope, they're gone for good! (See what I did there?)
We've all got different ways to deal with our grief. But for now, lets not take it out on each other. Unfortunately, we'll have a lot if time to be angry, but we shouldn't take the time we do have to be angry with each other.

Urge to invade neighboring country, rising.
Seriously though, my main issue was was dragging in another forum's issues, there are other issues, but I don't think those need to be elaborated.

I'm probably not conveying it in an understandable manner but I get what he meant by his offense to the whole kibun campaign and honestly I was a little offended too.
Its the assumption of a culture. I'm from a Hawaiian/Pacific Islander/Asian background (for simplicity's sake I just go with Hawaiian"). Someone might assume "Oh surfing and hula are a big thing for you huh?" when in fact, I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to do either.
Kind of how it is assumed that honor was going to be a big deal for NCSoft because they are an east Asian company. It probably means very little to them in the grand scale of things.
For the record, since everyone thinks people are taking sides just because they agree with something:
I am supportive of some of the Save CoH efforts, I have no love for NCSoft and I don't agree with some of the things Toast has had to say on the whole Save CoH effort but that doesn't mean everything he says is an attack on them or their efforts. There is no reason to lay into the guy and try to irritate him just because he has an opinion you don't agree with.
Golden Girl, whether it is intended or not, you are seen as one of the people representative of those who want to see CoH saved. Please be mindful, your actions reflect the rest of us even if we wouldn't behave as such. That goes for the other big names too.
(I realize my post is a couple pages late ><)

Little Debbie's cloud cakes are the CO of snack cakes.
Notas good as a twinkie (CoH) but hey, its similar.
Tim (Black Scorpion) used to joke that as due to his Irish ancestry, he and Rob (tech lead) should be mortal enemies (Rob was actually from England). It was a hatred I tried to fan the flames of, but alas, I failed because I don't understand how human emotions work.

Thanks.... I've since added to my ignore list I have no problem discussing/debating on a forum, but comments are about as useful as they were before 8/31.
When you are beaten, ridiculed, and called twinyoo because of where you were born... comments and humor aimed at degrading your ethnicity/culture are pretty intolerable.

It started out with "Hope is a disease that must be snuffed...", and is now working its way to, "...because the Titan Network hates Koreans."
I can sympathize with what Toast was feeling, but something seemed strange at the point Toast said they were insulting the culture because they're haters. I replied that if they misunderstood Kibun, that doesn't mean it's driven by hate. And somehow that resulted in, "And that means it's OK?" That's a very black & white response, as if, Titan either HAS to be racist, or there was no wrong-doing.

THIS is why I can't take your cries of "I was treated so terribly!" seriously. You act like your people get mistreated because they are Korean, when in reality its just whoever is different, or whoever a person particularly feels like mocking at whatever point in time.
I have to edit this, because that was a bit harsh. No amount of any sort of hatred is acceptable. But this wasn't some one DIRECTLY INSULTING YOU, or your family. This was a bunch of people with a grudge releasing some anger. And this is YOU, acting like its the end of the world and they are all focused on hatred because of it. TO which I say: Get over it, and good day.
"I have something to say! It's better to burn out then to fade away!"
Man I was regularly mocked and assaulted when I was younger for being POOR, for having clothes with holes in them, for not being SOUTHERN enough, and for just plain being different. When I was older it persisted, since I was still different. Then I moved to New York...and was suddenly mocked for being SOUTHERN.

Always got a kick out of the only time something is considered "hate" is when it is directed towards a group that has an ethnic, racial, religious, national, or sexual background. Any other time someone is ridiculed for what they are, it's just bullying, as if that somehow makes it less evil. Neither you or I ever got to pull out the race card, because what we are doesn't fall under the accepted definition of a 'group.'
I was about to make a similar response. In my case it was either skinny, having glasses, liking video games, liking Star Trek, not being good enough at basketball, not having a girlfriend, etc, and these were all valid reasons for physical assault.
