Not really. The ONLY thing it tells us is that one person was offended. This is the internet. I can say that the sun rises in the east and find someone who will be offended about it. Without seeing the posts in question, and having cultural knowledge, we don't know if it was actually offensive or if you're just picking a fight.

Nope. He ate the baby.

You sure you weren't just hungry??

Welcome to Japan! ...okay that wasn't nice.

Also yes, just figuratively. I already fear your cross space and time punching skills. You'd probably punch me like, yesterday if I did.

Awright, then go watch What's Eating Gilbert Grape. It really is my favorite movie of all time.

It's a very well-made, poignant movie without any violence or creepiness.

If you watch it, I maaaaay forgive you for devastating me.

Hey. No more attacking the object of my forum-affection. Wait, times up...

Beat Takeshi was outstanding in it. As always.
If you go to the YouTube link I posted for the trailer, one of the recommended videos below is for a Japanese movie called Smiley. The thumbnail alone creeps the frick out of me. Omg that's disturbing.

Everyone should take a look for themselves.....if you want to seriously be traumatized.

I really liked that movie! It's been a long while though...
I just saw it in Tarjay for a very cheap price too... meaning to pick it up and watch it again.
Based on Tunnel Rat's flakiness, I guess I shouldn't count on her joining us for a movie night in New York, right?

Ok, 20 minutes are up, I could fly over, or you can just save us both time and effort and punch yourself. In the face, preferably.

Let me know how that goes.

Please, I can punch myself out waaaay better than you can, with your weak My Little Pony punches.

Fortunately for you, I'm going to sleep.

Thus is NOT a cue for the forums to break in half again!

I dunno, I didn't see him as having actual romantic feelings towards her. It just seemed more like he felt that all the other students were trash (with most of them revealing themselves to be pretty terrible), and that she was some sort of ideal of what the youth should be like.

But I admit that I may have mentally misrepresented it, because making it a romantic thing would be pretty darn gross.

I am going to sleep as well..

OMG that's the rumor I am going to start now.

Anyone think it's odd that Black Pebble and I Burnt The Toast are going to bed at the same time?? HMMMMMMM

1. Either I am insinuating that BP and I are in the same house and going to bed together.......

or

2. Black Pebble/I Burnt The Toast are the same Asian poster!!!!!

Discuss.

It's very possible I misinterpreted it, especially considering I have very little familiarity with Japanese culture (which, as you mentioned before, is important to have to appreciate the film). I may have unfairly associated him with that one girl's creepy step-dad.

The thumbnail was a lot better than the trailer...

It was either that, or Twilight part 2, which I KNOW Tunnel Brat camped out for a week in advance to get into the midnight showing.

I did you a favor.

Okay now going to sleep for real.

HISSSSSSSS. And I'm so not checking out Smiley! Japanese horror films would scare Satan.

I see an American movie called Smiley, but I'm not seeing a Japanese version.

I've seen that image a couple times. And yeah, that image of the killer is seriously hella-creepy, but the trailer makes the movie look like an unimaginative ripoff of Candyman: you call the bad guy, then he comes and gets you.

Basically like Candlejack. If you say his name, he comes and... *dragged away, tied up in a rope*

Hey, I'm by no means an expert myself. I may have taken a few years of Japanese language and a Japanese literature course back in college (nevermind the metric ton of anime I've seen over the last 15 or so years), but I've never actually been to Japan. *shrug*
