Discontinued billing?

So when they said billing would be discontinued in the announcement, I thought it would just stop automatically. I just got billed as normal yesterday my question is as follows. Was I supposed to stop my billing? Or was it supposed to stop automatically? If it is the former, I accept that, but if it's the latter, I will be looking for my money like so many others.

I have 2 accounts and both are auto pay from my bank and Paypal. They have always shown up on my statement on the 5th and 9th, but so far nothing. If I were to cancel, I would lose my VIP status. I am just going to leave things as they are for now. (Still hoping the game can be saved.)

Billing was supposed to be entirely disabled, really weird that you got billed, I'd send a PM to Zwillinger. I know several people had their accounts "expire" after the announcement but retained VIP status. Come to think of it, mine was supposed to go on the 10th but I was just on last night and I was still VIP, so I'll go ahead and be another voice to confirm that. I wasn't billed on the 10th but however I did cancel billing beforehand.

I haven't seen anyone else saying they were billed - heck, there are reports of staying VIP after their sub ended - so I would contact support.

Your NCsoft account management page should have no end date on your subscription, which means it shouldn't have billed you.

I was "lucky" enough to get billed on Aug 28th (great timing!) for my monthly fee, so I still have a couple weeks to worry about whether I will be one of the lucky remain-VIP ones or one of the unlucky ones who dropped to Premium. Seems to be a crapshoot whether you stay VIP.

Thanks for the replies. I don't mind paying because as of right now I am still getting the service. I dont want this to happen IF they close shop. I would rather know it will continue until I cancel, than get charged on the last day before they close and have to go through the customer service of getting $14.99 back. I can just cancel before then if it is on me, but I don't wanna cancel early and maybe lose status/perks.

I'm a week past my bill date and I haven't been billed nor have I lost my VIP status.

my 3 month sub renewed on aug 25th so i technically have VIP till nov 25th (i cancelled my sub cause i had suspicion that autorenewed accounts were not disabled)

i will re enable my sub if coh stays alive

Unless things change, you'll remain VIP until November 30th.

My billing was canceled and last day was 10 sept. I am still VIP so I assume canceling billing does not end your VIP at the moment.

I just checked as I am on a yearly payment and found that I was set to be billed November 9th. My autopayment had not been stopped and looked like it was set to bill again on that date. So I cancelled my account.


The author of this post is speaking in generalities from his personal experience.
Your experience may vary.

Actually it's been hit or miss. Some VIP's have dropped to Prem when their billing date arrived. One can only keep his/her fingers crossed and hope it doesn't happen when it's their turn.

All my 5 accounts still VIP. They should all have been billed Sept 1-10

Much like the rest of this mess I am unwilling to research on my account, research on my bank record, or even go into the city in play. I don't harbor grudges and resentments. I nurture them for years until they are full on lifeforces of their own. Trying to get over that habit. Still, this was... Not going to rant. Argh.

Basically I am posting to say "It doesn't matter one way or the other" and other nihilistic thoughts. Anyone seen my copy of Dostoyevsky's "Notes from Underground?" I need something to cheer me up.

As I understand it, cancelling recurring billing does not, and never has, cancelled your account, it just cancels your recurring billing, and you lose all subscriber benefits when your paid time runs out. Since nobody's account has an end date on its subscription any more (or at least, isn't supposed to), you should remain VIP to the end.

Yes, I am aware of the exceptions, but by far, they seem to be the exception, not the norm.

Anyone know how to get VIP status back? I lost mine right before the announcement and was going to resub, and now I cannot. My SG base is shut down and I can't get in there. Was hoping to get the most out of playing for the last few months we have the game.

People have reported that if you apply a box code from one you hadn't used before, you can get VIP back. Read this thread. It seems to work as long as you had been VIP once however it won't take a FTP or only been Premium account and turn it into VIP.

You can invite a VIP to your SG, set them at the lowest rank and give that rank permission to pay base rent. Don't give it any other permissions. They can pay the base rent for you and then leave the SG.

There are several friendly VIP's that have been doing this for Premium players at no charge.

It doesn't get you VIP status, but it does get power back to your base and have it available to use.


If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Both my accounts are on monthly recurring. They auto-deduct around the 5th of each month. My last payment was taken on the beginning of August. They say payment will be taken out September 5th...but they were never taken out. My status is still VIP in game, though...as well as saying VIP on the NCSoft page.

From what I've heard, whatever status you were on the day of the announcement, that's what you'll stay til the end...but that no more billing will take place. I can't figure out why the OP's payment was taken out.
