So there's one thing I really hate in CoH

Having just absolutely wasted the last couple days, I thought I'd drop in and remind the developers that there's one thing I absolutely, passionately hate about City of Heroes... Outleveling content. Leveling up is supposed to be a good thing, not an "Oh [pancake]! What a [pancake] waste! [Pancake] my life!" moment.

Coh tries to work around this problem. There are numerous tools to help avoid this. You get to stay on a story arc if you outlevel it (better hope you're done with the contact though, and they don't introduce you to another contact you need). Ouroboros will let you go back and play through a story line you may have missed (unless you're working on Praetorian stuff, and it has no bearing on your status with the contact if that matters to you). You can even turn off XP, which is the best so far, unless you get more xp for a mission completion than you were expecting, or you forget that you have to shut it off at 15 (not 16) for Imperial City mission arcs. And unless you've memorized contact level ranges on Paraonwiki (since they aren't listed in the contact description, or any other place actually IN the game), you're bound to miss one every now and then, especially if it's one of those "hidden" contacts that nobody actually introduces you to redside. The worst thing about it is that we have the tech in the game to totally remove this problem, with the automated exemplaring, but it only gets used for Task Forces and Orouboros "flashback" arcs.

I really hate when I run into things like this in this game and am reminded that I'm an obsolete fool for having goals in this game other than reaching level 50 in record time and maxing out my DPS efficiency

Dear NCsoft, if you go through with this shutdown you've guaranteed you'll not see another dime from me on any project you put out, ever.

Alts don't solve the problem of the badge progress bar for Moral High Ground still sitting at 3/5 on a 50, alas.

Yes - for completing five Praetorian moral choice missions. Which can be outleveled. And are solo-only.

Yeah. I had to delete and restart a character because by doing the loyalty arc first, I had prevented myself from being able to do the resistance arc.

I've never been able to do that badge either. One of many reasons I stopped caring so much about badges.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

To start with: Zombie_Man's Plots of the Four Tracks Guide
Paragonwiki's listing for Moral High Ground

Otherwise, If you're worried about outleveling content, there's always turning off XP. Yes, it slows overall progression, but it is a useful tool if you want to progress through multiple Arcs. There's even a slash command for it.

Thank you for the time...

Same here. This, and seasonal events which require me to find teams willing to try for badges after the first 36 hours of the event.

To get the badge you have to do at least one arc outside of your chosen path, which means it's easier to wait until level 15 and run your chosen path and then one of the other two paths available to you (I generally run responsibility and warden). And then I have to run at +0(x1) and skip any of the spawns that I don't need to defeat to complete the mission. Or I can turn off experience.

Oh, I thought you were going to say that NPC heroes/villians that follow you can't keep up with you even without sprint on and consistently have to be checked that they didn't get lost or stuck....or, aggro something you don't want.

Hey, we wanted inherent fitness. We can't complain that the NPC's can't keep up now.

Also, please don't type your name at the bottom of your post like that. This is the 21st century. We can see your name on the left, and you can create a signature that won't be automatically thrown into a quote when someone responds to you.

I really don't have much problem with escorts any more (used to be really bad pathing issues a while ago). I mean, you have to be a little careful, but I haven't lost an escort in a long time.

Also...
Lighten up, Francis!

This is the biggest sticking point for me. For the most part, the game's method of auto-leveling characters for TFs and teaming in general is absolutely excellent and should be copied by every MMO out there. But they've failed to update their archaic contact/mission system with appropriate tech. There's zero reason to out-level a contact or story arc and I can't think of a single other MMO that makes content unavailable if you pass the level it was designed for.

You know you can turn off XP, right?

I've never had a Praetorian that didn't get that badge as a matter of course somewhere around level 15. My secret? Slimby. That as well as always soloing and leaving it on 0x1 with bosses on. Praetoria is pretty much a single player RPG that spits you out into a MMO at the end. If you look at it that way, well, it may or may not be any more appealing to you but I've enjoyed my time with it.

You do know you can read the actual text in the OP before responding, right?

What if I *REALLY* want credited for what I said, huh??!

Besides, with how often I post.....it's too much work to create a sig....had one before they moved the boards!

Still, pet AI/following heroes are horrible. With fitness or not. We need a lot more control over them.

It is rather ironic that Dech's own sig is about 10 times more intrusive than simply ending a post with a name..and ALSO contains 'Dechs'...so he is guilty of the very thing he is moaning about.

It only contains part of his name because of the fact it's in the title of something he is linking.

And it isn't quoted.

English is complicated, though, especially if it's your second language, which I'm never sure of these days. Samuel Tow, for instance, has near impeccable English, but is not a native speaker.

Either way, now you know. And you know what they say about that.

Gee you so got me..cause I totally said 'It is a quote'! Oh wait..no I did not. Learn to read.
Dechs mentioned the quoting..not me. Because apparently it is too HARD for him to delete a few words when he is quoting someone...

English is hard Dechs..so is pushing backspace a few times.
