Quick! Name a "Classic" Legacy Story Arc You Haven't Played in Years!!
pretty much all of them.
played them to death back when that was our only option aside from street sweeping, never want to see them again.
I haven't even played the low-ish level CoV arcs in a few years, and those are all Oscar nominees penned by Pulitzer Prize winning screenwriters compared to the junk on blue side.
The Nethergoat Archive: all my memories, all my characters, all my thoughts on CoH...eventually.
My City Was Gone
Ubelmann the Unknown was a classic for its time, and I haven't done it in forever.
Man, I think I've even forgotten who gives it out at this point.
But it sets the stage for all the future (concurrent?) time traveling that the 5th Column have been involved with.
It would be awesome to see it updated with some new mechanics and meshed into the current 5th storyline a little more tightly.
Statesmonkey Sez: Lighten up! It's a game, for Lincoln's sake!
Also: Six years of casual play begins to look an awful lot like one year of hardcore play.
Been a while since I played the arc that culminates in the gang war between the Hellions and Skulls (I think Athena Currie is one of the contacts that gives that arc). It's one of the ubiquitous "MAGI can't keep track of their stuff!" arcs, in that it opens with you having to recover a cloak that was stolen from them and that somehow sparks off the war between the Hellions and Skulls. You fight Marrowdrinker in one mission and Marrowsnap in another in which you beat the guy who's supposed to be in charge of the Hellions, too, and recover the cloak.
The only one I really MISS playing is The Mysterious General Z. I'm sure there are still players who meet General Aarons in the RWZ arcs and go "Who is this guy, and why does he think he can help me?"
Well, in Mysterious General Z, he, an Ambassador from "West Libertalia" and the ambassador's bodyguard provide fire support as you rescue them from the Sky Raiders. And they're armed with assault rifles. And they know how to use them! That mission is about the only reason why I miss playing it, because the rest is standard "Go here, kill Raiders..." fare.

Look at that. A full-grown woman pulling off pigtails. Her crazy is off the charts.
The Blue-Side Carnival or Shadows arcs. I have deliberately skipped them after completing them the first time. And I have no desire to play these arcs ever again.
It's the same reason for both of these arcs - Carnie Hunts. Outside of instances, Carnies show up all of... Two places, I think? Both of them in Peregrine Island, and neither of these points with any reliability. Yet both arcs require a frankly stupid amount of Carnies be hunted down in these locations.
It's what... 90 for Madeleine's arc, 115 for Harveys? If the Devs are going to throw those kinds of numbers at us, they should at least have made places where Carnies ALWAYS spwan...

There was one, can't remember the name, about the Crystal Thorns the CoT use for trapping souls. It had an absolutely awesome story, but I finally had to give up because the mission designer loved MASSIVE Oranbegan maps, oftentimes the size of Kings Row or larger, with a single objective hidden somewhere inside - usually a person, so stealthing through and listening for a glowie wasn't an option. Each mission could take upwards of two hours to completely clear, and CoT are fairly tedious enemies to begin with. Even worse, if you died you had to navigate the labyrinthine map to get back to where you were. Extremely tedious but not too bad if you don't mind the CoT too much.
Freakolympics was a good one, aside from being a bunch of kill alls. Made defeating the Freaks by the dozen satisfying.
Haven't done the Hollows missions in a while, but that's no surprise - they seriously suck. Lots of kill-all missions with little plot. Doesn't help that I originally tried to do them during the Halloween event so street sweeping was basically impossible.
I've actually played them all recently. I do them for fun; I really like the stories if not how they're always told. I love seeing how some of the original story arcs laid the groundwork for things that are just now starting to come into play, like with Dark Astoria.
I also do them for research for my FREEDOM Style series I'm working on in the AE, and frankly, for the xp and merits as well.
Did I mention Oroborous is one of my favorite additions to this game?
"I play characters. I have to have a very strong visual appearance, backstory, name, etc. to get involved with a character, otherwise I simply won't play it very long. I'm not an RPer by any stretch of the imagination, but character concept is very important for me."- Back Alley Brawler
I couldn't agree more.
That was Library of Souls, Grendar.

I don't think there is an arc I haven't run in the last 18 months (hero side). I switch up what content I run a lot. It has been awhile for Freaklympics, but I am running it now and I am pretty sure I ran it in 2011 at least once.

I need to run more arcs. I always keep missing the skyway/steel arcs as 10-20 zips by me these days and when you hit 15-20 there are so many arc options that you just forget about the older ones.
Scroll of Tielekku
For some reason it's one of the few arc names I remember, even though I haven't done most of the blueside content since my first (maybe 2nd) time through. Maybe I'll do it again with my new hero, unless he too falls the dark side.
Came here to say this.
Harvey Maylor's interminable arc about the Bands of Shu and so on is also incredibly tedious. |
One of the projects on my list is to clean out all the high level blueside contacts that I have piled up on the Ill/Storm and my EM/SR brute, so I anticipate experiencing quite a bit of "vintage" content, like Unai Kemen's missions. Haven't done any of them in ages.
Well I just did the Hollows arcs, now that they are soloable and you have travel powers at a lower level.
Wheel of Destruction
Library of Souls
Freaklympics (though that might be fun to run during the London 2012 games).
Any arc given by any contact in I.P.

Any arc that comes from a contact in Skyway.

The Defenders of Paragon
KGB Special Section 8
I've missed a lot of 30-50 arcs lately, maybe from doing more TFs. Anything from Crimson or Indigo, the Brickstown arc where you find the connection between the Lost and Rikti, and that one detective in Founders who's almost a Rikti.
