Okay. Glad we cleared that up.

I'd agree, except they call it Freebie FRIDAY, yet for most of the player base, practically speaking, you have to log in on THURSDAY to get it. It's confusing.

What next? Are the people gonna try to claim that when it's winter in the US they are haveing summer below the equator?
Bunch of crazy complaining nutters.
Since 79% of Freebie Friday falls on Friday in the EST zone of the US....not seeing any misrepresentation
It is a freebie...and if you can't be bothered to log in for 24 hours well then it doesn't mean that much to you. I personally just mentally tell myself it is Freebie Thursday and when I log in on Thursday evening run to the store and click to redeem my lil freebie
Is it written that you have to have time to play when you log in?
Log in for two minutes before you go to work or school on Friday morning. Problems solved.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
Screws up camping, going out of town, crashing at a friends place over night unless you plan for it and then bug someone else at work to do it.

By the same token, I agree with White Hot Flash; just because you don't have time to play during Freebie Friday doesn't necessarily mean that you can't just log in really quick and grab the shiny. If they ditch the idiotically inaccurate name then yeah, there would be no reason to have the event disabled at a later time.

4PM PDT (Pacific Daylight Time) on Thursday in the US of A is 12AM BST (British Summer Time) Friday in Europe.
Freebie Friday starts on Fridays at 12AM BST and ends 24 hour later at 12AM BST.
I applaud the devs for running this feature on EU time for a change. Far too often EU and Aussie players have to suffer things being run on American time zones.
Which is why you *gasp* always have a backup when someone is unavailable. It's not rocket surgery, folks. Is it really the case that this many people simply suck at work?

1) Automate the scheduling process, don't manually operate it.
2) Its advertised as Freebie Friday - not Freebie Friday on Thursday Nights and Friday Morning Coffee Break. People expect the event to be available as advertised. Its not the customer's fault if the advertised timeline doesn't match the actual timeframe.
If they can't manage their own marketing promo, then don't bother doing it.

This game is INTERNATIONAL. It has customers spanning the entire world. There will always be a difference in timezones
As has been made abundantly clear, the event does in fact start on Friday as advertised. It isn't the companies fault if you live in a different timezone than the one the event starts in.

Wait, why am I arguing with a squirrel?
The system has automation, however it's not reliable. So rather than risk it *not* working correctly, we run the process manually.
Please keep in mind that this is a *test* program. It will only run for a limited time, then we'll evaluate the metrics we gather from it and possibly implement it in a much more polished fashion. For the time being, we're going to maintain the current cadence of events.

...which is why you automate the process per regional server so *everyone* gets the same 24hr window of opportunity regardless of country or timezone. We are dealing with IT engineers here, so this shouldn't be rocket science...

2. Everybody currently has the same 24 hour window regardless of country and timezone.
3. If a person can't find 3 minutes out of a 24 hour period to log into the game to claim a free item then they have bigger problems to worry about than what timezone an event starts in.
I'd rather it run on Thursdays my time than not at all. I just think that with a simple name change or other relatively minor accommodating tweak, it would be much less confusing.
The simple fact of the matter is that Freebie Friday ends before most people get home from work, which is arguably when most people play the game. When you tell someone that they're going to get something for free on Friday, they log on as soon as they get home, and find out that it's over already, they'll probably fell a bit sour even though they're technically not any worse off than they were before. That's just human nature.
The thing that I'm stressing here isn't that the world will end if it's not changed, or that as it exists now it's a slap in the face, or anything like that. I'm just saying that with a very tiny modicum of effort, the issue could be avoided altogether.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
Everything I've done outside of normal work hours (mostly working the ticket gate at sporting events or working the Reserved Seating entrance at the football games) was purely voluntary and I was compensated extra for my time.
I believe the infringement on employees off-work time is also the reason they changed the scheduling of the updates to the Paragon Market.
EDIT: Friday night is one of the two days of the week that I'd NEVER ask an employee to have to interrupt their off-hours plans every week. Saturday would be the other day.
