So are any of the devs actually bronies?
So can/will you tell us if there are any others not on that list that are on the other project?

There's a few others you all have never had forums interaction with. Take into account that people have also been replaced with new hires as well. Generally speaking, I don't think it's appropriate to make a big deal out of people shifting around in the studio. COH still has a strong, dedicated development team and the fact that Paragon has other coals in the fire is a pretty exciting prospect. I know that I'm especially excited as the prospect of building a new Community from the ground up is a challenge I'm looking forward to (I'm not going anywhere, I'm in charge of all of Paragon's Communities )
Many of the people who have opted to shift to another project have put in many years on COH. While that's definitely admirable, from a professional and creative standpoint, I don't think anyone can begrudge them wanting a change of pace.

I don't begrudge them moving on to a new project, especially since it's at the same studio with some of the same people they've been working with for some time. I've not had any negative thoughts or interactions with the people who have replaced them in their previous positions either. I just have new names and faces to get used to and will get to talk to familiar names less here on the forums and possibly at future events like the Player Summits (it was great seeing TR, SM, NS and DW at the Spring Summit even though I knew they were on the other project and I knew they couldn't talk about it).
I'm looking forward to seeing what they are working on. It might be something that intrigues me enough to try for more than the first free month that comes with the game. Or enough that if it's a F2P game that I'd be willing to actually spend money on it. Trust from my previous experiences with those people goes a long way in my book.
Of course, I noticed that you didn't directly answer my suspicions about Ghost Falcon so I'll just keep that as a suspicion until given more information.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

So any chance of giving us hints of what this other project it??? *makes sad but cute puppy or if you don't like puppies then kitty face* *offers brownies, cookies, cake and pie*

Many of us in the community have had direct or indirect interaction with some of the staff (and not just rednames) and have built a bit of a familiar relationship with them.
Knowing that people I've grown to trust are working on Project X makes me think this is something I might like. But some might possibly have that opinion anyway just because it's made by Paragon Studios.
Knowing that several people I've grown to trust are working on Project X makes it even more likely I'd be interested in it. But some might possibly have that opinion anyway just because it's made by Paragon Studios.
It may wind up being something I have no interest at all in, but I can base comments about it or recommendations about it on my previous relationships with those people. But some might possibly have that opinion anyway just because it's made by Paragon Studios.
For example, if it was a game based on the fashion industry I likely wouldn't have any interest in the game but I could give positive recommendations about the people that designed the game due to past interactions with them.
The trust factor is big with me. If you've earned that trust, it takes quite a bit to lose it (or at least something that I consider a very personal betrayal). Once that trust is lost I'm extremely reluctant to have anything to do with someone.
People that have met me and gotten to know me likely have seen that side of me.
Maybe it's not something that would be worth making a HUGE deal over, but mentioning when someone has moved over to work on the other project can help build anticipation for that project.
Of course, I can see where the reverse would be true as well in that some people might not try it just because it was someone that used to work on CoH that they didn't like. But some might possibly have that opinion anyway just because it's made by Paragon Studios.

As we see those leave that we have come to respect, and who we know did great things for the game, I feel we are valid in our concerns over who is leaving.

Do you know why us long time vets are concerned about it? Because CoH has been put in maintenance mode before. It was left with a 15 man crew when Cryptic decided it was going to put "other coals in the fire" and we have legitimate fear of that happening again.

It's a bit more of a changing of the guard.
If they weren't replacing the people moving on to other things it would be maintenance mode.

It's when they replace zwillinger with a sock puppet on a broom handle that we know the game is in trouble.
The ustreams will at least be less tangent-y though.
What we have now isn't maintenance mode.

I know it is not the same thing as what cryptic did, but as you put it before we had developed relationships with some those who have now moved to the other project. It is also hard to assume that their replacements are going to do as well as they did, or have as large a presence in the community.
An example would be BABs no longer being here. He was a big part of the community as a red name. Who is the current lead animator? That is kind of what I mean.

Maybe we're all secretly hoping to figure it out by finding out who's on board with this secret project?

The new project involves computers, computer graphics, and in many cases keyboards. It is very exciting and we believe it will be very successful. |
Still hate the visit Winscott mission- make it dropable, have it give actual exp or remove it altogether. PS- Down knows who you are.

That we know are working on the other project?

As far as I know, Ghost Falcon is still twriling his moustache as business manager for CoH, deciding how much to punish players with prices in the market.

So, three things Zwill:
1. Are you going to CM that new project?
2. Have they hired anyone to CM that new project?
3. Can they hire me to CM a non-existent community for a full time salary for the next two years? I promise to work really, really hard managing the non-yet-existent community!
Speeding Through New DA Repeatables || Spreadsheet o' Enhancements || Zombie Skins: better skins for these forums || Guide to Guides
Now interestingly... no wait... I mean 'now inexplicably'... Cryptic would hire Community Managers for their new projects a full two years before launch. That's right, even during the time when *no information* was being released or published, and during the time they didn't have any press releases, news junkets, or online media, they actually hired and paid full time salaries to be Community Managers.

It's not necessarily an industry standard.
Even if it were, PS wouldn't be required to follow such a policy.
They've already learned that not all of Cryptic's policies were good policies.
