The CW have officially picked up Arrow, the new TV series about DC Comic's Green Arrow, for the 2012-2013 TV season. TV Line were among the first to report the news, as The CW picked up five new series for the next season, including The Carrie Diaries, Cult, First Cut and Beauty & the Beast.

Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, who was presumed dead for five years, until he is found on a remote island. Returning home, the wealthy Oliver decides to create a vigilante alter ego.

Probably, but at least this character/actor at least looks like he's capable of growing a beard. Which probably puts the character in his early-20s. (even though the actor is 31)

Eh, to me that's never seemed to much to worry about.

"What?! He's 30?! Playign a 20 year old?!" when I've seen so many "OH MY GAWD! You're 20?! You look frikkin 30!"

heh

Also, look at the cast of NCIS. At least 3 of the actors in it are playing characters younger than they really are (Abby, Gibs, Ducky).

It's a little late to be complaining about 30 year-olds playing 20 year-olds when 90210 (the original series; god I hate that I can say that) had the same concept only instead it was 30 year-olds playing teenagers.

Not to mention 21 Jumpstreet.

Well, 21 Jump Street was about kid faced police officers going under cover, and the oldest one on the show was 25.

Not to much of a stretch playing an 17-18 year old.

They looked old to me at the time. But now that I consider it, I had a slightly more youthful perspective at the time.

After looking more closely at this, I'm kinda annoyed that Ollie is going to be a brunette. They went from a blonde without the facial hair to a brunette with the facial hair. It's like they're obligated to miss the mark.

The thing that amazes me is how people pick up on the buzz words I always laugh at and say will NEVER catch on. To see 'The CW' typed out is almost as jarring as when people were saying stuff was 'Upin' (oo-pin).

It's especially jarring for me since I have no idea what CW stands for in this context.

In the context I know it CW refers to Chaos Warrior when talking about Blood Bowl teams.

I didn't know it stood for anything, I just knew it was what the network started calling itself somewhere along the way. Apparently, though, the name comes from it being owned by CBS and Warner Brothers.

New Trailer

Trailer is not bad..

Stephen Amell (the actor who will play Olvier Queen in CW's Arrow) says that his take on the DC superhero has nothing in common with the Smallville version and also discusses the tone, costume and more.
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit.../news/?a=59991

"It's pretty kick ***," the actor tells MTV Splash Page of what we should expect from the CW's take on Green Arrow this Fall. "There's a lot of action; there's a lot of fighting. It's close hand to hand combat and it's aggressive. The entire pilot just keeps ramping up the entire way. You don't get a break." As for the training he went through (Amell can be seen looking extremely buff in the clip, trailer and TV spot) he said, "It was the basics; it was like 'wax on, wax off' stuff. I did a bunch of parkour, and then I got into weight training and the specific fight choreography for the pilot, and that sort of continued to ramp up as we went along."

"I think that when you see the pilot, other than in name, the characters really don't have anything in common," Amell confirmed when asked about any similarities between this and the Green Arrow introduced in Smallville and played by Justin Hartely. "It's very different and people will get that after about two minutes of the show." As for the costume, he added added, "The idea for the costume was I wanted to be able to put the costume on by myself. Because if I could put the costume on by myself that means that it's functional and if it's functional people will buy it. My boots are actually Nike Frees, which is kind of cool. It's leather and it's tight and it's aggressive, but I can move in it. People will like it."

The only way I'd watch this show longterm is if they used the storyline of Oliver running for Mayor... and winning.

Standard revenge storyline plus a bit of Nolan's first Batman film plus the semi standard CW mix of rich pretty 20 somethings.

Stir.

I'm such a comic fan-boy, that I have a pretty high tolerance for "bad" that I can watch if it's comic related. This exceeds that tolerance.

Will not watch.
