They're a group that's so Golden Age they could cause the word "hoodlum" to make a comeback, and make players refer to any missions featuring them as "capers"

I get the distinct impression that they carefully pulled people away from ideas they already had going so as not to rehash, but perhaps IP was an exception? I can all but guarantee that Boomtown and Shadow Shard are already 'on the radar.' |
My only disappointment with the Revamp panel is that they really should've laid out the ground rules to us beforehand, because it was far less a 'revamp' a zone as it was 'update' a zone. Some of the ideas presented were just major revamps that, while pretty cool, don't seem like they will get much attention given the rules we got.
And the market stuff was addressed in the keynote. New super packs coming, a bunch of beta stuff, the leaked powers (Bio Armor, Water Blast, etc) and.. that was about it.
Well, No answers on the two things I wanted to know the most. Will we ever get the rest of the CoT costumes, and will we get the Black Knight armor in the store?
Please devs take pity on me and my inability to attend and answer these questions. |
As for Black Knight - the chain mail and leather armors are based on them at least.
My arcs are constantly shifting, just search for GadgetDon for the latest.
The world beware! I've started a blog

I was the guy videoing at the back of room. I'll try to have them uploaded on Monday. Only one significant issue when my memory cardfilled up in the middle of a question. I lost about a minute.
Teams are the number one killer of soloists.
Does anyone have a picture of the tights patterns shown?
Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.
As far as red-side zones go, I'm not sure if there's any in real need of being revamped. The Mercy update did wonders for it as a starting zone, but none of the other zones have the same problems that Mercy had. There's the aesthetic issue of the Rogue Isles as a whole, but that really comes down to personal preference (I, for one, am not particularly bothered by everything being grimy and red). And a wholesale remake of the Isles to make them "brighter" is beyond the scope of what the developers would be willing to do.
Positron: "There are no bugs [in City of Heroes], just varying degrees of features."
I'm also pretty disappointed with that crowd in the room for voting radiation armor over throwing weapons. TW would have been a GREAT powerset to build with the playerbase. RA is pretty limited for optionable design in comparison.

No disappointment here. Synapse is still my favorite Dev, but Hawk is doing pretty good.

Thinking about it now.
I have to say I do prefer it when at least some portion about the Pummit is dedicated to 'big reveals'. The format as it is now is kind of sound, but I feel less impetus to sit and watch it via UStream. Given the heavy emphasis on player interaction over presentation for the future makes me feel more at a loss for not attending. At least with the other way I felt I could get excited watching it and seeing the different upcoming tidbits. This way, I feel kind of helpless because I can't voice my thoughts or responses in any way like the attendees, the Ustream audience is just there to observe, our feedback, not that it doesn't matter but it just isn't heard.
For the most part I don't think I walked away from this Summit, as just a Ustreamer, with anything that I didn't already know from Beta, with the exceptions of the Rad Armor and the post-apoc costume.

I watched it all, and the powers panel was really the only part I enjoyed. I know what you mean, and it is really frustrating to have ideas, that are not heard or expressed just because we can't travel.

Well it's less that any particular Redside zone or piece of content needs to be updated as it is just that Redside needs -more- content to fill it out. It's got wonderful core content but it has -none- of the peripheral content that blueside, ironically, has too much of.
|
Though, the pummit as a whole was pretty good, even from watching it on ustream. The audience wasn't totally ignored, but anyone asking about PvP never heard the end of "lolpvp" from the audience, and was told to stop asking about it by the moderating staff (Hit Streak, I think) and that PvP was specifically not being talked about at the pummit. Which is weird. The entire focus of the panels was to just talk with the players and not do big reveals, but oh no we can't talk about that!
Otherwise, good show! I'm super excited for the Post Apocalyptic set, and can't wait to see more on that. Rad Armor sounds promising as well, and even though I don't particularly care for the IP revamp, I'm sure they'll do good work on it.

I'd be all in favor of one, maybe two new red zones. Only concern is that given how there's just a smudge of level overlap between the existing zones, any new zones could potentially cause older zones to be largely empty (yes yes, "Durr hurr redside is already empty!" and all that), thereby repeating the problem present in PAragon City.

Which is why I liked Posi's idea of revamping Striga and giving it to villains. Even the scales ever so slightly.

Assuming, of course, that the PvP community would be willing to engage in honest back-and-forth dialogue with the developers this time, instead of folding their arms and shouting "CHANGE IT BACK NAO!".

Hmm... can't say there is anything being discussed that sounds interesting. Sorta sad about that, really.
I suppose we need new armor. But am really melee'd out atm, so nothing interesting.
Will go a far, far distance to avoid post-apocolyptic nihilism. (Though, have wanted a pair of torn fishnets since I've started playing). I can make a perfectly fine Tank Girl with the snorkel we have now, so can't see anything there.
And... IP? Really?? Unless they make it 1/4 the size it is now, I'm still not going there, no matter what they do with it, or what it's populated with.
But, oh well. I like what we have now. And am sure there will be torn fishnets to buy... um, right? Glad to hear they aren't going to get mired into PvP discussion, though.
NOTE: Obviously, am just speaking for myself. If people like this stuff, great! More players, more joy all around, I'm very happy if everyone else is!
To be fair, the guys that were nagging about PvP were really obnoxious about it and basically insisting that the discussion become about PvP, even in the Zone Revamp panel which had nothing to do with PvP.
And the ustream was regarded slightly? But not much. It's just when audience participation is such a huge focus the Ustream is just a watcher either way.
Oh hang on, did they ever have that Paragon Market session or was it part of the keynote? Was anything juicy revealed there?
NVM - I'm watching the Keynote again. I missed a good chunk of the first half.
