Let's talk warmace

So scrappers got warmace a while ago, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone playing it, and I've barely heard anyone talk about it.

This set seems absolutely ridiculous on scrappers. With the scrapper melee numbers, it gets THREE attacks that hit harder than headsplitter on broadsword, two of which have significantly shorter animation times, and it gets two fairly nice AoE attacks that both hit up to 10 targets vs. the titan weapon/staff 5 target attacks, and half of the powers in the set have very high rates of knockdown or knockup.

Am I missing something here? Is there some kind of downside I'm not seeing? I mean, clobber with a base damage of 200, activation time of 1.2 seconds? That's better than the new buffed up assassin's strike.

Why aren't more people bashing heads in?

Going WM/SD myself. Just haven't rolled it yet.

Because people are silly. That's why. War Mace on Scrappers is STUPID good.

Also most of the maces are fugly.

War Mace is quite excellent.

It is a bit short on good-looking weapon models, though...

Echoing lack of good weapon models.
That's why I haven't rolled it yet. :P

After 2 /WM tanks at 50. Inv/WM and FA/WM, I remade my namesake - Phrendon Largo, on the VIP server as a WM/EA scrapper.

I usually just pick up the pipe wrench and hit them with it. It works, with all the stuns.

I selected the fire and ice3 weapons but have yet to even look at the WM options.

Here's my WM/SD. I've incarnated him up. But I don't play him as much for 2 reasons:

1) Hard to balance building a good ST attack chain with having to soft-cap shield.

2) Def sets like shield are being punished end-game by cheaty incarnte to hit bonuses.

Very open to suggestions to tweak the build.

Not sure what you mean here, mace only has one attack that hits harder than headsplitter. Its DPA is substantially better of course.

Actually this is my post ATO build. Enough native recharge w/o hasten to chain Shatter-Clobber-Pulverize-Jawbreaker on ST.

Has T4 Musc and T3 Reactive.

Edit: yeah, the problem is this ... just did a fast pylon test, rounding up a bunch of monkeys for AAO... still took me like 4.30 which is slow in today's incarnted i22 world. Granted this build isn't optimized with procs etc but that's because of how it was built to softcap shield. I'm open to suggestions.

Oops, you're right. I was looking at jawbreaker and shatter slotted with damage procs in mids and it was showing me (187) and (191) in parenthesis.

As far as mace graphics, I think the celestial mace looks pretty awesome, it's a big glowy warhammer, but it is tier9 so I guess not many people can use it.

The Celestial mace is pretty good, but it looks weird to me since they lengthened the haft.

Yeah, mace on scrappers is pretty retarded. Crowd Control alone is bat**** insane. Goodness me I just wonder what would happen if they gave it to stalkers now that stalkers are good!

Don't say "dur bane spider". It's not even close.

I just had a quick look at Warmace (Swapping the slotting on my planned DB/EA) and although it is far from poor it isn't as good (Single Target anyway) as I had thought.

The DPA on Clobber is amazing, but unfortuantely Shatter and Jawbreaker (I was using Clobber>Jawbreaker>Shatter which I think is the best chain) let the side down with their slightly long animation times.

They are still good attacks, and I think the AoE probably makes up for this, but I only work out ~245 dps* (Not taking any -res procs into account).

I think Warmace is still a good set, and I am surprised I don't see more of them, but the lack of AoE until high levels could count for that.

*Compared to a calculated 310 for the DB/EA version.

It's a ported set, so it's been around awhile, and there's currently lots of new sets out, and really, I could see people not caring for it's animations.

There's a youtube video floating around of an absolutely insane Bane. Of course that one's an incarnate so I'm not sure how it played pre-50. I don't really think Banes need a buff so much as Crab Spiders will just always be easier to build well because of their available powers. Kind of like how a Peacebringer won't ever be a Warshade, even though Peacebringers don't really need a buff anymore.

I would make it like this with SMeld so you have an isoftcap on demand....but then I probably wouldn't waste so much inf on a toon that won't do competitive ST damage

All I want is a global proc IO to change Knockback into Knockdown, and then I'd actually be able to play my peacebringer.

Got a WM/EA scrapper that does pretty crazy damage. The AOE potential of the set is quite impressive. It isn't too bad single target with with clobber hitting so hard. Ever since they buffed up WM nicely a bunch of issues back, I've been fairly taken with the set, though I only have 2 50s with it. I should work up a tanker as well. (WM/WP brute, and WM/EA scrapper).

Too many alts to list.

I'm really proud of everyone here for not flooding the thread with "SO STRONG!" comments.\

The devs at least pay attention to HEATs .

I made a WM/SD brute because I got a level bump in beta a while ago because I was curious about WM. I fell in love but at the time it wasn't available to scrappers, So I made a bane. I love my bane but I wish that they had the current version of clobber and I wish that they had Whirling Mace. I actually plan to make a WM scrapper and it will be my first scrapper ever!

I think that Banes do need a small buff. Yes they can get high resistance and defense like a crab or a widow but once that fails you are done. Crabs have def and res and can also hide behind Pets, a heal and a Power that removes taunts for you. Widows have mitigation bakes in their powers and they can get mink link and Elude.

Banes can be amazing though once you grab incarnate powers to compensate for the holes but it's tough for you to wait until lvl 53 for a decent bane that can keep up with a Crab or a Widow.

Banes need buffs? By that logic Huntsman need help too.

As for Warmace, yeah, I wind up defaulting to the Fantasy Mace myself. The Carnival of Light ones could be interesting with a Carnie outfit...but yeah, a lack of decent models is a little depressing.

I played a WM/SD Scrapper and then conceptually turned her into a SS/WP Brute, but the short time I played Mace was outrageous.
