Staff Fighting Power Set New!

Gracefully strike your foes with a long staff while assuming one of three different forms: Form of the Body, Form of the Mind and Form of the Soul. Each form grants you a different stacking buff, but will be consumed to empower Eye of the Storm and Sky Splitter. Staff Fighting is a Melee Damage Power Set available to Brute, Scrapper, Stalker, and Tanker Archetypes. Purchase of this Power Set unlocks it for your entire account. NOTE: Stalkers count as always having Form of Body active.

This is an outrage and completely disgraceful, no staff fightin....

Oh there it is sorry I'll just really miss those rants! Now do I make a staff wielding Brute or Stalker...?

@SkullFester

I'm not changing this signature until I'm proclaimed 'King of the World'.

The long description for Staff Fighting on the market has a typo. It says it's available for "Brute, Scrapper, and Tanker Archetypes" but doesn't mention Stalkers.

Awsome: both in the fact that SF is out *and* a well themed sales package. Kudos!

Indeed! I was kinda hoping they might put the other melee power sets on sale and/or the Imperial Dynasty costume set, but I'm having trouble finding a reason to complain about the sales they did give us.

Offering some feedback on staff here:

It's got some nice animations. Scrapper wise it does a good bit of damage and is pretty quick. The powerset needs a better color to identify itself with because it looks too much like random grey powers everyone gets in game. The sound is kinda odd, it makes it sound like metal is hitting metal. Could use more staff types (( like a bladed medieval type staff)).

Before I go for staff, I need to know:

How many models are there currently?

I believe there are 6 at the moment. Metal, Glossy Metal, Wood, Broom, Tech, Pipe. Though I feel like I'm missing one. (Turning on the game might be helpful. )

It's the bundle of the Martial Arts super booster, not brand new costume pieces.

Once upon a time, the MA bundle was bugged in the i21 beta and charged more than 400 Points when purchased, so it had to be pulled from the live release until it could be fixed.

This week's releases are a slap in the face to, um, someone... for, uh... some reason. I'm sure of it.

OH!

No new vanity pets! That's it. This is a slap in the face to players because it doesn't make use of the 4-legged rig as we've come to expect every week. I mean, Staff Fighting? Pfft. Who asked for that?

FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

Technically the devs are still working on Beast Mastery too as it still has quite a bit of buggles in it

But staves will def keep me occupied in the meantime. I think we need another AS animation on the stalker build and better sound effects, but the set is gorgeous and performs quite well.

I tried both, in beta. It's fun on a stalker, very fast, hits hard, good AoEs, reasonable mitigation. But it's amazing on a brute, where the fast, full attack chain, especially early on, makes it easy to build fury quickly and where the 40% endred buff makes it almost impossible to run out of endurance. You can run as many toggles as you want, and still never lose fury because you just plain never have to slow down.

Yeah. Three attacks in, you're pulling the same amount of global endred as unslotted Speed Boost. As much global endred as if you'd put an extra level 45 endred IO in every power. Almost as much global endred as you get from Cardiac Core Paragon. It's that good.

I want a Guan Dao, personally. For either Staff or Titan Weapons.

Is there any gameplay footage of the Staff powerset available, or are we expected to buy it solely on the strength of a picture of a guy with a stick?

YouTube is your friend. Just search for City of Heroes Staff and you should be able to find plenty of videos shot by players and put together by the Devs.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Now they need to make Spear Fighting, a set that uses similar models but is one handed, allowing for shields and Spartans
Long ranged single target attacks.
